The catalytic performances of unary metal, binary metal, and ternary metal phosphides, oxides, and sulfides were systematically studied. It is demonstrated that the ternary metal phosphide Fe-Co-Ni-P-1 manifests the best catalytic performance, which is mainly attributed to the monodisperse core-shell structure, low resistance, large electrochemical active area, and the synergistic effect among metals.Melt and glassy states of coordination polymers (CPs)/metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained attention as a new class of amorphous materials. Many bridging ligands such as azolate, nitrile, thiocyanide, thiolate, pyridine, sulfonate, and amide are available to construct crystals with melting temperatures in the range of 60-593 °C. Here, we discuss the mechanism of crystal melting, glass structures, and mechanical properties by considering both experimental and theoretical studies. High and exclusive H+ or Li+ conductivities in moldable CP glasses have been proven in the all-solid-state devices such as fuel cells or secondary batteries. Transparent glasses with wide composition and available dopants are also attractive for nonlinear optics, photoconductivity, emission, and light-harvesting. The ongoing challenge in the field is to develop the design principles of CP/MOF melts and glasses, corresponding functions of mass (ion, electron, photon, phonon, and so forth). transport and conversion, and the integration of devices with the use of their tunable mechanical properties.A highly efficient catalytic method has been developed for asymmetric radical cyclopropanation of alkenes with in situ-generated α-heteroaryldiazomethanes via Co(II)-based metalloradical catalysis (MRC). Through fine-tuning the cavity-like environments of newly-synthesized D2-symmetric chiral amidoporphyrins as the supporting ligand, the optimized Co(II)-based metalloradical system is broadly applicable to α-pyridyl and other α-heteroaryldiazomethanes for asymmetric cyclopropanation of wide-ranging alkenes, including several types of challenging substrates. This new catalytic methodology provides a general access to valuable chiral heteroaryl cyclopropanes in high yields with excellent both diastereoselectivities and enantioselectivities. Combined computational and experimental studies further support the underlying stepwise radical mechanism of the Co(II)-based olefin cyclopropanation involving α- and γ-metalloalkyl radicals as the key intermediates.

To explore the organic features of redundant endometrium (RE), we examined the expression of different endometrial hormone receptors, oncogenes, and cell replication markers, in normal endometrium (NE), endometrial polyps (EP) and RE specimens.

This was an experimental study examining endometrial tissue expression of estrogen receptors (ER1 and 2), progesterone receptors (PR-A+B), androgen receptor (AR), insulin receptor (Insulin-R), insulin-like growth factor receptor 1 (IGFR-1), thyroid hormone receptor (TH-RB), B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2), Ki67, HOXA10, in women with NE, EP and RE, of women undergoing hysteroscopy for benign gynecologic pathology. Specimens were separated in 3 groups NE, EP, RE. Endometrial samples were processed for real-time RT-PCR analyses. Main outcome measure was tissue expression of the markers in the three groups.

Of the 16 patients, 2 had NE, 8 had RE, 5 had EP, 1 had both, RE and EP. Compared to NE, RE and EP showed significantly increased Bcl-2, Insulin-R, ER-ß, PR-A+B, and TRB expression (p<0.044), with EP showing significantly increased PR-A+B, compared to RE (3.29±0.47 fg/μg RNA versus 1.86±0.34 fg/μg RNA; p=0.023). The other markers were not significantly different across the three groups Ki67 appeared non-significantly decreased, while HOXA10, IGF-R1, AR, and ER-α, were non-significantly increased.

RE showed biochemical characteristics different from NE. Similar to endometrial polyps, RE showed enhanced cell differentiation, but not cell replication. These changes in RE could be detrimental for embryo implantation and should be of consideration in women undergoing fertility treatments.

Suboptimal medicines management due to inadequate knowledge can cause risks to patient safety and affect the quality of care and patient outcomes.

To examine the effect of an educational programme on nurses' knowledge of medicines management.

A pre and post-design was used to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational medicines management programme. Data were collected from nurses before and after programme participation from September 2016 to June 2018. A total of 99 nurses received a multiple-choice questionnaire before and after the programme to assess for changes in their knowledge. Any changes in test performance following the medicines management programme were quantified and tested using McNemar's test and the generalised estimating equation for binary outcomes. The Chi-square test was used to analyse group differences.

The nurses' scores were significantly improved after the medicines management programme on questions regarding documentation, observation, aseptic technique and pharmacology half-life. There was a significant improvement on one of the five questions relating to medicine calculation when converting doses from milligrams to grams.

A mandatory hospital medicines management programme had some effect on increasing nurses' knowledge. STAT inhibitor However, it also was also found that the programme content could have been improved, particularly regarding nurses' responsibilities for medicines management at patient discharge and documentation when undertaking generic substitution.
