Impact craters are both cut by and overprint fracture zone structures. Twelve percent of AMA impact craters that occur within the fracture zone domain predate or formed during fracture zone development. This observation indicates the relative youth of the fracture zone era and is consistent with the possibility that this domain remains geologically active. The AMA records a rich geologic history of large tract of the surface of Venus and provides an important framework to formulate new working hypotheses of Venus evolution and contribute to planning future studies of the surface of planets.Knowing precisely where a spacecraft lands on Mars is important for understanding the regional and local context, setting, and the offset between the inertial and cartographic frames. For the InSight spacecraft, the payload of geophysical and environmental sensors also particularly benefits from knowing exactly where the instruments are located. A ~30 cm/pixel image acquired from orbit after landing clearly resolves the lander and the large circular solar panels. This image was carefully georeferenced to a hierarchically generated and coregistered set of decreasing resolution orthoimages and digital elevation models to the established positive east, planetocentric coordinate system. The lander is located at 4.502384°N, 135.623447°E at an elevation of -2,613.426 m with respect to the geoid in Elysium Planitia. Instrument locations (and the magnetometer orientation) are derived by transforming from Instrument Deployment Arm, spacecraft mechanical, and site frames into the cartographic frame. A viewshed created from 1.5 m above the lander and the high-resolution orbital digital elevation model shows the lander is on a shallow regional slope down to the east that reveals crater rims on the east horizon ~400 m and 2.4 km away. A slope up to the north limits the horizon to about 50 m away where three rocks and an eolian bedform are visible on the rim of a degraded crater rim. Azimuths to rocks and craters identified in both surface panoramas and high-resolution orbital images reveal that north in the site frame and the cartographic frame are the same (within 1°).The Michelson Interferometer for Global High-resolution Thermospheric Imaging (MIGHTI) on NASA's Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) mission is designed to measure the neutral wind and temperature between 90 and ∼300 km altitude. Using the Doppler Asymmetric Spatial Heterodyne (DASH) spectroscopy technique, observations from MIGHTI can be used to derive thermospheric winds by measuring Doppler shifts of the atomic oxygen red line (630.0 nm) and green line (557.7 nm). Harding et al. (2017, https//doi.org/10.1007/s11214-017-0359-3) (Harding17) describe the wind retrieval algorithm in detail and point out the large uncertainties that result near the solar terminators and equatorial arcs, regions of large spatial gradients in airglow volume emission rates (VER). The uncertainties originate from the assumption of a constant VER at every given altitude, resulting in errors where the assumption is not valid when limb sounders, such as MIGHTI, observe regions with significant VER gradients. In this work, we introduce a new wind retrieval algorithm (Wu20) with the ability to account for VER that is asymmetric along the line of sight with respect to the tangent point. Using the predicted ICON orbit and simulated global VER variation, the greatest impact of the symmetric airglow assumption to the ICON vector wind product is found within 30° from the terminator when the spacecraft is in the dayside, causing an error of at least 10 m/s. The new algorithm developed in this study reduces the error near the terminator by a factor of 10. Although Wu20 improves the accuracy of the retrievals, it loses precision by 75% compared to Harding17.Nursing documentation is repeatedly reported to be insufficient and unsatisfactory. Although nurses should apply a holistic approach, they tend to document physical needs more often than other caring dimensions. This study aimed to describe nurses' experiences documenting mental health in older patients receiving long-term care. Individual interviews were conducted with nine nurses and were analyzed by content analysis. One main theme, two categories and seven sub-categories emerged. The findings showed that the nurses perceived mental health as an ambiguous phenomenon that could be difficult to observe, interpret, and agree upon. Thus, the nurses were uncertain about what concepts and words corresponded to their observations. They also struggled with finding the right words to create accurate and complete documentation without breaking confidentiality or diminishing the dignity of the patient. The findings are relevant for nurses in different types of healthcare services and in the educational context to ensure comprehensive nursing documentation. We encountered a patient with intratendinous ganglion which developed in the extensor digitorum communis tendon. Although its developmental mechanism is unclear, synovitis is considered the cause. For treatment, it may be necessary to prepare for tendon transfer and tendon grafting in consideration of the risk of tendon injury. We report a case of purulent flexor tenosynovitis caused by Mycobacterium haemophilum in an immunosuppressed patient who received renal transplantation. Three synovial debridements and multiple antimicrobial administrations with clarithromycin, rifampicin, and moxifloxacin have been performed. No apparent recurrence has been observed two years after the final operation.Breast asymmetry can be congenital or developmental, however a tumorous growth may be the cause of this condition after puberty. A 19-year-old female presented with a slowly developing breast asymmetry pre-operatively diagnosed as Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia (PASH). The patient underwent tumour excision with breast gland remodelling. Postoperative course was uneventful.Scaffold-based bone tissue engineering is the most relevant approach for critical-sized bone defects. It is based on the use of three-dimensional substrates to provide the appropriate biomechanical environment for bone regeneration. #link# Despite some successful results previously reported, scaffolds were never designed for disease treatment applications. This article proposes a novel dual-functional scaffold for cancer applications, comprising both treatment and regeneration functions. These functions are achieved by combining a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer and graphene. Results indicate that high concentrations of graphene enhance the mechanical properties of the scaffolds, also increasing the inhibition on cancer cell viability and proliferation. We describe a case of a 19-year-old female presenting with Mycobacterium bovis meningitis, a rarely encountered infection. link2 We discuss the use of pyrosequencing to aid in prompt diagnosis of M. bovis infection, as well as treatment strategies and challenges given the organism's intrinsic resistance to pyrazinamide. We describe a 43-year-old patient with coronavirus disease 2019 who developed a bullous hemorrhagic rash that progressed to necrotic lesions. Histopathology confirmed a vasculitis of small- and medium-sized cutaneous vessels. The NOD-like receptor protein family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, activated in the setting of HIV, contributes to pro-atherogenic inflammation. Among antriretroviral therapy-naïve people with HIV (vs controls), levels of caspase-1-a key component of the NLRP3 inflammasome-were significantly increased. Six months of elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate significantly decreased caspase-1 levels in association with CD4+/CD8+ ratio recovery.Trial registration. ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01766726.While basic science and social medicine are fundamental to the practice of medicine, the former is often prioritized in preclinical medical education at the expense of the latter. In this perspective, we discuss ways to introduce the concept of interpersonal, institutional, and structural discrimination as social determinants of health (SDOH) into a preclinical microbiology and infectious diseases medical course. We offer 5 specific steps to creating a comprehensive curriculum on discrimination as a social determinant of health define and use standardized terminology; integrate the concept of SDOH throughout the course; encourage critical appraisal of lay and medical resources; encourage student feedback; and provide faculty development supported by key faculty stakeholders that focuses on increasing comfort and facility with teaching such concepts. link3 This approach offers a template for ongoing discussion in the setting of curricular reform. We compared outcomes and clinical characteristics of uncomplicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia planned for a 14-day or >14-day course of intravenous antibiotics. Treatment failure was infrequent in both groups (0% and 5%, respectively). Catheter-associated deep vein thrombosis, immunosuppression, and valvular dysfunction were associated with a longer planned duration of therapy. We report a case of acute weight gain after switching from emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil to emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide for human immunodeficiency virus pre-exposure prophylaxis.Babesiosis with high-grade parasitemia is life-threatening, especially in asplenic hosts. We report an asplenic patient with parasitemia >50% who was successfully treated with prompt red blood cell apheresis and triple therapy with clindamycin + azithromycin + atovaquone. This regimen may be an alternative to poorly tolerated clindamycin + quinine in severe cases.Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is a primary immunodeficiency syndrome that results in increased risk for bacterial and fungal infections, as well as inflammatory/autoimmune complications. While CGD historically has been associated with early death in childhood, the life expectancy and morbidity of patients with CGD have greatly improved. Many patients with CGD now survive well into adulthood, and data on adult cohorts of patients with CGD have been published. However, reports of pregnancy management, complications, and outcomes for patients with CGD are sparse. In find more , management of invasive fungal infections, including use of newer triazole antifungals, during pregnancy has not been well described. We report a case of fungal lung infection in a pregnant woman with CGD, diagnosed during her second trimester, which was treated with multiple antifungal agents, including more than 12 weeks of isavuconazole therapy, resulting in resolution of infection and delivery of a healthy newborn at term.

Effective therapies to combat coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) are urgently needed. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has in vitro antiviral activity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), but the clinical benefit of HCQ in treating COVID-19 is unclear. Randomized controlled trials are needed to determine the safety and efficacy of HCQ for the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

We conducted a multicenter, double-blind randomized clinical trial of HCQ among patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19. Subjects were randomized in a 11 ratio to HCQ or placebo for 5 days and followed for 30 days. The primary efficacy outcome was a severe disease progression composite end point (death, intensive care unit admission, mechanical ventilation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and/or vasopressor use) at day 14.

A total of 128 patients were included in the intention-to-treat analysis. Baseline demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics were similar between the HCQ (n = 67) and placebo (n = 61) arms.
