In this study, a new functional yoghurt-like product was manufactured using soymilk (sample B), mix of soymilk and cow milk (sample C), and both were compared with yoghurt of cow milk (sample A) as a control. The three yoghurt samples (A, B, and C) were processed using the traditional starter culture and Bifidobacterium bifidum (A) 100% cow milk yoghurt, (B) 100% soymilk yoghurt, and (C) (50%cow milk + 50%soy milk) yoghurt. All samples were stored at 4°C for 15 days and analyzed on 1st, 7th, and 15th day of the storage period. The results showed that all samples have kept a vital force of 106 colony/g until the 15th day of cooled storage period, and thus, achieving the feature of probiotic food. Moreover, soymilk yoghurt had the highest content of protein (3.75%) and the highest levels of unsaturated fatty acids, making it nutritious and healthy food. Furthermore, it had an acceptable taste, smell, and a firm texture. This product may be considered as a probiotic vegan and partial alternative to cow milk yoghurt. Additionally, adding probiotic bacteria prolonged the shelf-life and improved the flavor of soymilk.Baobab fruit demand has been on the rise in the recent past, and in an attempt to match the demand, farmers and middlemen are forced to harvest immature fruits which are not fully dried. To ensure an acceptable moisture content, baobab fruits are subjected to solar drying, which is a slow process and often carried out in open and unhygienic conditions raising safety concerns. This study was conducted to investigate the microbial and aflatoxin contamination levels in ready-to-eat baobab products from selected formal and informal processors in specific counties of Kenya. Selected processed baobab products were sampled randomly from formal and informal processors and analyzed for the total aerobic count, Enterobacteriaceae, yeast and molds, ergosterol, aflatoxins, moisture, and water activity. The moisture and water activity of baobab pulp and candies from formal processors ranged between 7.73% and 15.06% and 0.532 and 0.740 compared to those from informal processors which ranged from 10.50% to 23.47% and 0.532 g, transport, and storage conditions of baobab fruits along the baobab value chain.Smoking is one of the oldest technologies for processing and preserving raw materials of animal origin. The research compared the qualitative changes in the fat fractions of hot and cold-smoked salmon during refrigerated storage. Generally accepted physicochemical methods for assessing the quality of fats, such as peroxide, anisidine, and acid number, were used. First, the smoked salmon was stored, and then, the samples were analyzed to find changes in the fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). It was shown that cold smoking significantly inhibited the increase in the level of lipid oxidation compared to hot smoking and raw samples stored in the same way. Summarizing the research, it can be concluded that smoked products are a good and safe source of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet.The availability of comprehensive genomic datasets across patient populations enables the application of novel methods for reconstructing tumor evolution within individual patients. To this end, we propose studying autosomal broad copy number alterations (CNAs) as a framework to better understand early tumor evolution. We compared the broad CNAs and somatic mutations of patients with 1 to 10 autosomal broad CNAs against the full set of patients, using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas breast cancer project. We reveal here that the frequency of a chromosome arm obtaining a broad CNA and a genome acquiring somatic mutations changes as autosomal broad CNAs accumulate. Therefore, we propose that the number of autosomal broad CNAs is an important characteristic of breast tumors that needs to be taken into consideration when studying breast tumors. To investigate this idea more in-depth, we next studied the frequency that specific chromosome arms acquire broad CNAs in patients with 1 to 10 broad CNAs. With this process, we identified the broad CNAs that exhibit the fastest rates of accumulation across all patients. This finding suggests a likely order of occurrence of these alterations in patients, which is apparent when we consider a subset of patients with few broad CNAs. In addition, the potential challenges and future directions of endoscopic PA imaging are discussed.We examine whether complex cross-household structures of post-separation families are associated with higher risk-taking behavior in adolescence (substance use, bullying, early sexual onset) and whether the proportion, and thus statistical normality, of complex family types in a certain country is a potential moderator of this association. Drawing on representative data from 42 countries and regions from the Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC) study in 2001, 2006, and 2010 (N = 506,977), we provide detailed analyses on adolescent risk behavior even for very rare family types, thereby accounting for the complex cross-household structure present in many post-separation families. We combine logistic and count regression models to analyze risk incidence and intensity. This review aims to carve out the full spectrum of recipients' motives and experiences related to donor anonymity which could serve as an analytical framework for future ethical and sociological research on issues of donor anonymity. This review was conducted following a seven-step approach for systematic reviews of empirical bioethics literature. The characteristics and quality of the studies included in this review were reported. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative content analysis and was informed by sociological functionalist theorizations of ignorance. The 53 studies selected showed a diverse spectrum of characteristics concerning date and country of study, methodology, family type of participants, sample size, and the timing of data collection in relation to the stage of treatment. A total of 22 categories of motives and experiences of recipients concerning donor anonymity were identified inductively and grouped into five main categories. Donor anonymity was identified as a eufunctional form of ignorance, by which the recipients experienced or intended to control, regulate, or protect inter-stakeholder relations. Interpreting recipients' motives and experiences concerning donor anonymity as a form of ignorance directed toward particular stakeholders helps reframe the discourse on donor anonymity. It is a fruitful approach that can be refined further and applied in future research. In this study, the suitability of cocoa bean shell (CBS), a by-product of the cocoa industry, as a feed ingredient in the diet of dairy goats was evaluated, with a focus on the related implications on feed intake, milk yield, milk main constituents, and fatty acid (FA) profile of milk fat. Twenty-two Camosciata delle Alpi goats were divided into two balanced groups. All the goats were fed mixed hay ad libitum. The control group (CTRL; n = 11) also received 1.20 kg/head × day of a commercial concentrate, while in the experimental group (CBS; n = 11) 200 g of the CTRL concentrate were replaced by the same amount of pelleted CBS.
