Covering up to 2022Plants are organic chemists par excellence and produce an amazing array of diverse chemical structures. Whereas primary metabolites are essential for all living organisms and highly conserved, the specialized metabolites constitute the taxonomy-specific chemical languages that are key for fitness and survival. Allocation of plants' wide array of specialized metabolites in patterns that are fine-tuned spatiotemporally is essential for adaptation to the ever-changing environment and requires transport processes. Thus advancing our knowledge about transporters is important as also evidenced by the increasing number of transporters that control key quality traits in agriculture. In this review, we will highlight recently identified transporters and new insights related to already known transporters of plant specialized metabolites. Focus will be on the transport mechanism revealed by the biochemical characterization and how that links to its function in planta.We developed a dual-responsive fluorescent probe MC-V-P for the simultaneous detection of ONOO- and viscosity by different imaging channels. MC-V-P has high sensitivity and selectivity, and shows good stability at different pH levels. Notably, the probe has two independent fluorescence signals toward ONOO- and viscosity changes at 580 nm and 740 nm, respectively. Cell imaging experiment results demonstrated that MC-V-P exhibits low cytotoxicity and could be used to monitor viscosity and ONOO- in living HepG2 cells simultaneously.Cardiovascular instability and a blunted respiratory drive in hypoxic conditions are hallmark features of the genetic sensory and autonomic neuropathy, familial dysautonomia (FD). FD results from a mutation in the gene ELP1, the encoded protein of which is a scaffolding subunit of the six-subunit Elongator complex. In mice, we and others have shown that Elp1 is essential for the normal development of neural crest-derived dorsal root ganglia sensory neurons. Whether Elp1 is also required for development of ectodermal placode-derived visceral sensory receptors, which are required for normal baroreception and chemosensory responses, has not been investigated. Using mouse models for FD, we here show that the entire circuitry underlying baroreception and chemoreception is impaired due to a requirement for Elp1 in the visceral sensory neuron ganglia, as well as for normal peripheral target innervation, and in their central nervous system synaptic partners in the medulla. Thus, Elp1 is required in both placode- and neural crest-derived sensory neurons, and its reduction aborts the normal development of neuronal circuitry essential for autonomic homeostasis and interoception. This article has an associated First Person interview with the first author of the paper.A colorimetric assay was described for determination of tetracyclines (TCs) in complex matrices based on dual regulation of gold nanoparticle (AuNP) aggregation and in situ silver metallization. The reaction between p-aminophenol and silver ions (Ag+) catalyzed by aptamer (Apt)-functionalized AuNPs promoted the in situ deposition of Ag shells on AuNPs to afford core-shell bimetallic NPs (Au@AgNPs). When the target is present, Apt is separated from the AuNP surface through the Apt-target interaction. With the desorption of Apts, AuNPs catalyzed the formation of more aggregated Au@AgNPs with a thinner Ag shell, corresponding to the solution color gradually changing from orange-yellow to brown. Using A600/A410 as the determination signal, the assay gave visible linear relationships for TCs in the range of 0.3-6.0 μmol L-1 with a detection limit (LOD) of 33.6 nmol L-1. In particular, the assay was successfully applied to detect TCs in real samples with the recovery rate ranging from 91.2% to 106% and relative standard deviation (RSD) less than 4.6%. These results meet the requirements of sample analysis.

To describe the mentoring process between the ICN Advanced Practice Nurse Network practice subgroup and the University of Pécs to support the emerging advanced practice role in Hungary, and explore the creation of a mentoring algorithm for faculty and other key stakeholders worldwide who wish to develop advanced practice nursing programs.

Advanced practice nurses provide comprehensive clinical care and expand access to care in more than 70 countries. In March of 2017, a representative of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Pécs requested assistance in curricula development for the inaugural advanced practice nursing program in Hungary.

A mixed-methods single case study was undertaken. The sources of evidence include interviews, e-mails, review of the literature, and related documents. Qualitative data were analyzed for content, and frequencies were calculated for quantitative indicators.

The findings highlight the importance of clear communication, development of shared goals, and detentoring colleagues can contribute to and support the development and acceptance of national policies for the advanced practice nursing roles.

To develop a B1-corrrected single flip-angle continuous acquisition strategy with free-breathing and cardiac self-gating for spiral T1 mapping, and compare it to a previous dual flip-angle technique.

Data were continuously acquired using a spiral-out trajectory, rotated by the golden angle in time. During the first 2 s, off-resonance Fermi RF pulses were applied to generate a Bloch-Siegert shift B1 map, and the subsequent data were acquired with an inversion RF pulse applied every 4 s to create a T1* map. The final T1 map was generated from the B1 and the T1* maps by using a look-up table that accounted for slice profile effects, yielding more accurate T1 values. T1 values were compared to those from inversion recovery (IR) spin echo (phantom only), MOLLI, SAturation-recovery single-SHot Acquisition (SASHA), and previously proposed dual flip-angle results. This strategy was evaluated in a phantom and 25 human subjects.

The proposed technique showed good agreement with IR spin-echo results in the phantom experiment. For in-vivo studies, the proposed technique and the previously proposed dual flip-angle method were more similar to SASHA results than to MOLLI results.

To investigate the efficacy of adding ultrasound cavitation and radiofrequency versus cryolipolysis to weight reduction program on leptin, insulin, waist circumference, skinfold, body weight in central obese subjects.

Sixty centrally obese participants were randomly allocated into three equal groups. Subjects in the study group (I) received cavitation and radiofrequency plus dietary regimen, subjects in the second study group (II) received cryolipolysis in conjunction with the same diet program, and subjects in the control group (III) received the same dietary regimen only. Leptin, insulin level, waist circumference, skinfold, body weight, and body mass index were measured shortly before intervention techniques and 3 months afterward.

This review aimed to examine the evidence for the effect of Lf supplementation on inflammation, immune function, and respiratory tract infections (RTIs) in humans. Online databases were searched up to December 2020 to identify relevant, English-language articles that examined the effect of Lf supplementation in human subjects of all ages, on either inflammation, immune cell populations or activity, or the incidence, duration, or severity of respiratory illness or RTIs. Twenty-five studies (n = 20 studies in adults) were included, of which 8 of 13 studies (61%) in adults reported a decrease in at least 1 systemic inflammatory biomarker. Immune function improved in 6 of 8 studies (75%) in adults, with changes in immune cell populations in 2 of 6 studies (33%), and changes in immune cell activity in 2 of 5 studies (40%). RTI outcomes were reduced in 6 of 10 studies (60%) (n = 5 in adults, n = 21232186.Effects of storage after heating on the odor of yellowtail Seriola quinqueradiata muscle were investigated. Sensory evaluation demonstrated odor degradation during storage of ordinary muscle as well as dark muscle (DM). First, different volatile profiles between OM (dorsal and ventral) and DM were found; their profiles were also different between non-stored samples (raw samples and just-heated samples) and stored samples except for a part of stored OM. Although the dorsal and ventral OMs differed in lipid content, their volatile profiles were similar to each other. The aforementioned differences were due to increased levels of lipid oxidation compounds (eg, aldehydes and alcohols) during storage after heating. However, none of the muscle parts showed significant changes in the intensity of each odor perceived by gas chromatography-olfactometry and trimethyl amine during storage. These findings suggested multiple volatile components may contribute to the odor deterioration of heated yellowtail muscle during cold storage.

Refractory bladder neck contracture (BNC) following transurethral prostatectomy is rare and difficult to manage. Success rate of endoscopic treatment decline considerably after repeated treatments. Bladder neck reconstruction are often the last resort to treat refractory BNC failing endoscopic treatments. In general, experience is limited with this type of bladder neck reconstruction, particularly in adult patients. This study aims to determine the success rate, functional and patient-reported outcomes (PRO) of open Y-V plasty in treatment of refractory BNC after transurethral prostatectomy. The study also aims to determine the rate, and potential predictors of persistent storage symptoms after Y-V plasty.

Between January 2016 and February 2021, 18 consecutive patients with refractory BNC who underwent open Y-V plasty were included in this study.
