To explore the association between levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) on admission and prognosis of patients admitted to intensive care unit (ICU).

The data were collected from patients who were admitted to the ICU of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the United States from 2001 to 2012 with available TSH test records within 24 hours after the ICU admission via the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-III v1.4 (MIMIC-III v1.4). Information including gender, age, ethnicity, type of admission, mechanical ventilation (MV) or renal replacement therapy (RRT) received on admission, comorbidities, and TSH test records within 24 hours after the ICU admission were collected. The sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score, simplified acute physiology score II (SAPS II) and the comorbidities index Elixhauser (SID30) score were calculated according to the parameters. To explore the risk factors of abdominal hemorrhage (AH) in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) and its impact on outcome.

The clinical data of 231 SAP patients admitted to Diagnosis and Treatment Center for SAP of Guizhou Province from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. These patients were divided into AH group and non-AH group. Twenty-four adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into four groups according to the random number table method, with 6 rats in each group. Hyperbilirubinemia rat model was reproduced by intraperitoneal injection of bilirubin once every 12 hours for 4 times, at doses of 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg in low, medium, and high dose bilirubin group (LB group, MB group, HB group), respectively. The rats in negative control group (NC group) were given the same solvent without bilirubin powder. Urine was collected 24 hours after administration, and total protein (TP) level was detected. Then the rats were sacrificed, the blood was collected by cardiac puncture, and the total bilirubin (TBil) and direct bilirubin (DBil) levels were measured by automatic biochemical analyzer. The renal tissue was collected and stained with periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staine, the glomerular morphology was observed unbilirubinemia induced damage to glomerulus in a dose-dependent manner. To assess the ability of the acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) and trauma-injury severity score (TRISS) in predicting mortality in intensive care unit (ICU) trauma patients.

Databases of PubMed, Cochrane Library, SinoMed, CNKI were retrieved from January 1980 to December 2020. The ability of the APACHE II and the TRISS to predict mortality in the ICU trauma patients was compared in the retrieval literatures. The relevant literatures were screened by two researchers independently. The data of the included literatures were extracted, and the quality of the included literatures was evaluated. MetaDiSc 1.4 software was used to test the heterogeneity among studies. Meta-analysis was performed on diagnostic accuracy indicators and the summary receiver operator characteristics curve (SROC curve) was fitted. ITF3756 The area under SROC curve (AUC) of the two scores was compared. Deek test was used to analyze literature publication bias.

Six studies were selected with 4 054 patients involved with medium and high quality. Meta-analysis results showed that APACHE II and TRISS had low sensitivity [the pooled sensitivity and 95% confidence interval (95%CI) was 0.48 (0.41-0.55) and 0.51 (0.41-0.62)], high specificity [the pooled specificity and 95%CI was 0.96 (0.93-0.97) and 0.98 (0.95-0.99)], the pooled diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) and 95%CI was 20 (14-28) and 46 (18-120), and overall good performance in terms of AUC [the AUC and 95%CI was 0.79 (0.75-0.82) and 0.80 (0.76-0.83)] in predicting the prognosis of ICU trauma patients. There was no statistical difference in AUC between the two scores (Z = 1.542, P > 0.05). Deek funnel plot showed little publication bias.

To investigate the role and mechanism of microRNA-499 (miR-499) regulating α-myosin heavy chain (α-MHC) and β-myosin heavy chain (β-MHC) gene axis in septic myocardial dysfunction (SMD) and its significance.

Sixty healthy adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into phosphate buffered saline (PBS) control group (PBS group), lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced SMD model group (LPS group), miR-499 agonist pretreatment group (agomir+LPS group), and miR-499 inhibitor pretreatment group (antagomir+LPS group) by random number table, with 15 rats in each group. SMD rat model was reproduced by intraperitoneal injection of LPS 10 mg/kg. The PBS group was intraperitoneally injected with the same amount of PBS. The two pretreatment groups were injected with agomir 30 mg/kg or antagomir 80 mg/kg through the caudal vein for 3 days, once a day. PBS group and LPS group were not pretreated. Echocardiography was detected 5 hours after LPS injection, and relevant indexes were recorded. The expression of miR-499 in pl expression in myocardial tissue (α-MHC/GAPDH 0.63±0.03 vs. 0.74±0.14, P < 0.01), significantly up-regulated β-MHC protein expression (β-MHC/GAPDH 3.03±0.47 vs. 2.97±0.34, P < 0.01), and significantly increased the level of plasma NT-proBNP (ng/L 373.91±4.23 vs. 334.13±4.36, P < 0.05).

To explore the automated external defibrillator (AED) configuration optimization strategy in line with the characteristics of the rapidly developing cities by analyzing the actual coverage of AED in Bao'an District based on the real world data of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in Bao'an District, Shenzhen City.

The data of cardiac arrest database registered in Bao'an District of Shenzhen City from March 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020 were included in a retrospective observational study. The AED coverage of public and non-public areas was analyzed by calculating the minimum distance between the occurrence place of each OHCA event and the nearest AED. The minimum distance ≤ 100 m was set as AED coverage, and the minimum distance > 100 m was set as non-AED coverage. It was assumed that one AED was configured for each OHCA hotspot area, then the AED coverage changes were analyzed. Based on the actual situation that the AED in schools, governments, sports venues, subways, tourist attractions and parks communities and industrial zones; AED is available in the public areas for 24 hours.

AED configuration in Bao'an District was unevenly distributed, and the coverage rate of AED in non-public areas was low. The allocation strategy for AED in fast-growing cities like Shenzhen should be as follows on the premise of ensuring AED availability for 24 hours, priority should be given to covering the number of AED in the non-public areas including residential communities and industrial zones; AED is available in the public areas for 24 hours.

Finally, the protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis of common DEG was carried out by using Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes Database (STRING) and the key genes were screened out by using CytoScape software, molecular complex detection (MCODE) analysis plug-in and CytoHubba plug-in with maximum cluster centrality (MCC), maximum neighbor connectivity (MNC) and degree. The results showed that the expressions of IL-1β, SOCS3 and MMP-9 were gradually increased with time of ventilation, the differences were found at 6 hours as compared with those in the spontaneous breathing control group [IL-1β (integral A value) 8.40±2.67 vs. 5.10±0.94, SOCS3 (integral A value) 9.74±1.80 vs. 5.95±1.31, MMP-9 (integral A value) 11.45±6.20 vs. 5.36±1.28, all P < 0.05].

To explore the diagnostic value of mechanical power (MP) in patients with moderate to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) based on the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IIIv1.4 (MIMIC-III v1.4).

The information of ARDS patients undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation for no less than 48 hours who were hospitalized at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts from June 2001 to October 2012 in the MIMIC-III v1.4 were collected. The demographics of patients, disease severity scores, ARDS etiology, prognostic indicators, pre-ventilation arterial blood gas analysis and respiratory parameters within 48 hours of ventilation were extracted. According to the lowest oxygenation index (PaO

) before ventilation, the patients were divided into mild to moderate ARDS group (> 150 mmHg, 1 mmHg≈0.133 kPa) and moderate to severe ARDS group (≤ 150 mmHg), and the differences in baseline characteristics between the two groups were compared. The independent predictors associated with the severity of ARDS were analyzed using Logistic regression.
