The microbiome in these organs, including the bacteriome and virome, responds to infection and might also influence disease progression and treatment outcome. In a cohort of 13 COVID-19 patients in Beijing, China, we observed that the gut virome and bacteriome in the COVID-19 patients were notably different from those of five healthy controls. We identified a bacterial dysbiosis signature by observing reduced diversity and viral shifts in patients, and among the patients, the bacterial/viral compositions were different between patients of different severities, although these differences are not entirely distinguishable from the effect of antibiotics. Severe cases of COVID-19 exhibited a greater abundance of opportunistic pathogens but were depleted for butyrate-producing groups of bacteria compared with mild to moderate cases. We replicated our findings in a mouse COVID-19 model, confirmed virome differences and bacteriome dysbiosis due to SARS-CoV-2 infection, and observed that immune/infection-related genes were differentially expressed in gut epithelial cells during infection, possibly explaining the virome and bacteriome dynamics. Our results suggest that the components of the microbiome, including the bacteriome and virome, are affected by SARS-CoV-2 infections, while their compositional signatures could reflect or even contribute to disease severity and recovery processes.In present study, dyeing wastewater samples were collected from three typical dyeing wastewater treatment plants in Wujiang, Shengze and Shanghai, China. Physicochemical properties and biotoxicity indicators (luminescent bacteria acute toxicity and umu genotoxicity) were tested and the relationships among them were analyzed. The results revealed that two biotoxicity indicators varied significantly among different treatment units of three plants. After treatment by plant A, luminescent bacteria acute toxicity of dyeing wastewater reduced effectively, while umu genotoxicity increased significantly. Correlation analysis indicated that there was little correlation among biotoxicity indicators and physicochemical properties, meanwhile two kinds of biotoxicity indicators were relatively independent. Therefore, it was recommended that comprehensive evaluation of dyeing wastewater toxicity needs the combination of various biotoxicity indicators, and the relationship among biotoxicity indicators and physicochemical properties of dyeing wastewater should be established individually. The results of this study would offer a general understanding and evaluation of biotoxicity during actual dyeing wastewater treatment processes and provide database for toxicity reduction and management of dyeing wastewater.Road traffic injuries (RTIs) are a major, global problem. Few studies on RTIs have been conducted in Namibia, despite having one of the highest RTI rates globally. We conducted multinomial logistic regression on national Namibian datasets on RTIs 2012-2014. Being a motorcyclist was associated with the greatest risk of being injured (adjusted Relative Risk Ratio (aRRR) 82.1 (95% CI 47.2-142.9)) or killed (aRRR 202.1 (112.7-362.7)). Risks were also elevated for cyclists (57.3 (23.6-139.5)), pedestrians (15.8 (13.2-18.9), passengers (6.1 (5.2-7.2)), relative to drivers.
