45, 95% CI 1.19-5.07) or (5.29 (1.35-20.71) respectively). Reporting more than one sexual partner in the past 6 months was associated with HIV prevalent infection than those reporting no sexual partners (aOR=6.44, 95% CI 1.27-32.83).

adolescents and young people aged 13-24 years in fishing communities around Lake Victoria, Uganda, have a high HIV prevalence, with females having a three-fold higher level than males. These findings highlight-the need to improve HIV prevention among young females living in these fishing communities.

It has been most often reported in Asian subjects while it has been little described in the black population. Its mechanism has been little elucidated, but it would be caused by hyperactivity of the Na+/K+pump. We here report two cases of thyrotoxic hypokalemic periodic paralysis in black African subjects. ML385 cell line The clinical manifestation was identical in both patients proximal muscle paralysis of the lower limbs. Paralysis was associated with severe hypokalemia and occurred in female patients treated for Graves' disease without any other associated disease. Outcome was immediately favorable under potassium supplementation. Treatment of hyperthyroidism prevented recurrences. This study highlights the importance of suspecting the diagnosis of thyrotoxic hypokalemic periodic paralysis despite its rarity in the black African population.Head and neck involvement of Kaposi's sarcoma is rarely encountered, especially for the Mediterranean classic subtype. Here we report a case of non-AIDS related laryngeal Kaposi's sarcoma in a 77-year-old Tunisian man complaining of 4-month history of hoarseness and dysphagia. The patient underwent exclusive local radiotherapy with a prescription dose of 45 Gy delivered in 1.8 Gy daily fractions. He remained complaint-free for 3 months.A cutaneous sinus tract of dental origin is relatively uncommon and may easily be misdiagnosed because of its unusual occurrence and absence of dental symptoms. Extraoral drainage depends on the location of the affected tooth as well as on specific factors such as the virulence of the microorganism, resistance of the patient's body, and the relationship between anatomy and muscle facial attachments.

Zambia has moved from accelerated malaria burden reduction to malaria elimination which requires the national malaria surveillance system to capture all cases from both the public and private sector. This study investigated challenges and factors associated with private health facilities reporting malaria in the national health management information system (HMIS).

a structured questionnaire was administered to the heads of 139 private health facilities in three provinces where approximately 85% of private health facilities are found in Zambia. Logistic regression was performed, and the outcome variable was reporting malaria in the HMIS. Epi Info® version 7 was used to conduct multivariable logistic regression to determine factors associated with private facilities reporting malaria in HMIS.

private health facilities that had been operating for more than 20 years had three (3) times increased odds of reporting malaria in HMIS (AOR = 3.22, 95% CI 1.23, 8.42; P-value = 0.02) compared to those that had been operating for less than 20 years. The private facilities that had staff who were aware about malaria surveillance (AOR = 2.06 95% CI 1.38, 3.99, P-value = 0.01) had two times greater odds to report malaria in HMIS compared to those that were not aware. Lack of information and training in surveillance was identified as the main barrier for private facilities to report malaria in HMIS.

as Zambia progresses towards malaria elimination, there is need to increase awareness and training of private providers on malaria surveillance to improve reporting in HMIS.

It is a communication between the main pancreatic duct (Wirsung) and the accessory pancreatic duct (Santorini). We report a case of the patient, in a 44-year-old, non-alcoholic, hospitalized for acute pancreatitis stage C of Baltazar. A magnetic resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) was performed which showed a gallstone and ansa pancreatica, than an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) revealed an ansa pancreatica with a common bile duct clear, a sphincterotomy of the major papilla was performed. It is still not clear whether the presence of these two pathologies is a coincidence or if the ansa pancreatica is the cause of acute pancreatitis. New studies are necessary to clarify these points.Bronchopulmonary cancer is the leading cause of death in men and the second in women. Some endoscopic or radiological features may guide histological diagnosis and thus facilitate therapeutic management. We here report the case of a 54-year old man, with a history of smoking and recent coronary stent implantation, presenting with haemoptysis and worsening of dyspnea which had evolved over the last month. Chest x-ray showed left pulmonary hemifield lucency with signs of retraction. Bronchial fibroscopy objectified raspberry bud formation spontaneously bleeding, originating from the left main bronchus and suggesting carcinoid tumor. Chest computed tomography (CT) scan showed poorly enhanced endoluminal tissue process at the level of the left main bronchus, located four cm from the carina and complicated with atelectasis. Diagnostic and therapeutic surgery helped to adjust to a diagnosis of endobronchial amartocondroma.
