The role of government and public authorities at all levels - especially the type and duration of measures affecting transport operations - will be crucial for the future development of the aviation industry. The novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak has had wide-reaching and unprecedented impacts on the transport sector worldwide. At present, there is no globally agreed timeframe for when this pandemic will end. The current and near-future potential impacts must be addressed in a relatively comprehensive and seamless way. The present study proposed a PASS (P Prepare-Protect-Provide; A Avoid-Adjust; S Shift-Share; S Substitute-Stop) approach for policymaking that accounts for COVID-19 and future public health threats. The PASS approach was illustrated conceptually, and then policy measures were recommended by referring to the past and ongoing best practices. Bay 11-7085 Policymaking challenges and research issues were discussed. The SARS-CoV‑2 pandemic represents a great challenge worldwide not only under the aspect of treatment but also of prevention. The infection curve could be flattened by the rapid implementation of simple distance and hygiene measures. In order to ensure current and future patient care in conjunction with protection of medical personnel working in the healthcare system during this pandemic, adequate protective equipment is essential. Routine care can only be resumed if there is sufficient and adequate personal protective equipment (PPE). If recommended hygiene protective measures including the necessary PPE are seriously taken into account both elective interventions and emergency care can be carried out without an increased risk of infection. Bay 11-7085 This is very important in vascular surgery with a high proportion of urgent and emergency disease management. In the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home (WFH) became of great importance for a large share of employees since it represents the only option to both continue working and minimise the risk of virus exposure. Uncertainty about the duration of the pandemic and future contagion waves even led companies to view WFH as a 'new normal' way of working. Based on influence function regression methods, this paper explores the potential consequences in the labour income distribution related to a long-lasting increase in WFH feasibility among Italian employees. Results show that a positive shift in WFH feasibility would be associated with an increase in average labour income, but this potential benefit would not be equally distributed among employees. Specifically, an increase in the opportunity to WFH would favour male, older, high-educated, and high-paid employees. However, this 'forced innovation' would benefit more employees living in provinces have been more affected by the novel coronavirus. WFH thus risks exacerbating pre-existing inequalities in the labour market, especially if it will not be adequately regulated. As a consequence, this study suggests that policies aimed at alleviating inequality, like income support measures (in the short run) and human capital interventions (in the long run), should play a more important compensating role in the future.Periorbital necrotizing fasciitis is a very rare condition with a UK incidence of 0.24 cases per million per annum. Outcomes can range from disfigurement to sight loss and even death. Debridement is crucial when sight or life is threatened and the subsequent reconstructive stages can be challenging. We describe two cases of periocular necrotizing fasciitis demonstrating the progression of the disease as well as the surgical debridement for both pre-septal and post-septal disease and the reconstructive steps leading to outcome. Facial pressure ulcers are a rare yet significant complication. National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines recommend that patients should be risk-assessed for pressure ulcers and measures instated to prevent such complication. In this study, we report case series of perioral pressure ulcers developed following the use of two devices to secure endotracheal tubes in COVID-19 positive patients managed in the intensive care setting.
A retrospective analysis was conducted on sixteen patients identified to have perioral pressure ulcers by using the institutional risk management system. Data parameters included patient demographics (age, gender, comorbidities, smoking history and body mass index (BMI)). Data collection included the indication of admission to ITU, duration of intubation, types of medical devices utilised to secure the endotracheal tube, requirement of vasopressor agents and renal replacement therapy, presence of other associated ulcers, duration of proning and mortality.

Non-health workers engaged in essential activities during the pandemic are less researched on the effects of COVID-19 than health workers.
to study the differences between those who work away from home and those who do so from home, when the effects of fear of contagion cross with those of confinement, about the psychological distress during the COVID-19 in Spain.
Observational descriptive cross-sectional study
The study was carried out receiving 1089 questionnaires from non-health workers that were working away from home and doing so from their homes. The questionnaire included sociodemographic and occupational data, physical symptoms, self-perceived health, use of preventive measures and possible contacts, and the Goldberg GHQ-12.
71.6% of non-health female workers and 52.4% of non-health male workers had psychological distress, with differences among those working away from home and those working from home. The level of psychological distress among non-health workers is predicted by 66.5% through the variables being a woman, 43 years old or younger, having a home with no outdoor spaces, poor perception of health, number of symptoms, and having been in contact with contaminated people or material. Among workers who work away from home, being self-employed is another predictive variable of distress
More than the half of the sample showed inadequate management of the psychological distress. There are modifiable factors which provide necessary elements to support a positive attitude of the workers, such as knowledge of hygiene, transmission of the virus, protective measures, and social distancing measures.
