Starting from a [(MeO C^N^C)AuCl] complex as precursor, a direct substitution by C,H-activation from sp-, sp2 - or sp3 -C,H-bonds under basic conditions in a planetary ball mill was achieved. Because of the extraordinary photophysical properties of the target compounds, this protocol provides an easy access to a highly valued complex class. In contrast to existing protocols, no pre-functionalization of the starting materials is necessary and the use of expensive transition metal catalysts can be avoided, which makes this application appealing also for industrial purposes. In addition the methodology was not restricted to pincer complexes, which was demonstrated by the substitution of chelate type [(tpy)AuCl2 ] complexes.AngioVac system (AngioDynamics) has already proved to be a useful tool in the treatment of thrombotic and endocarditic formations concerning the venous district. Herein, the AngioVac aspiration system combined with the bidirectional rotational Evolution mechanical sheath lead extraction was used for an effective and safety cardiac-device-related-infective-endocarditis removal in a grown-up congenital heart disease patient through a totally peripheral approach.Supporting a parent with dementia living in their own home is a challenging care issue which has potential for negative physical, emotional and psychosocial impacts. This research explores the experiences of adult daughters who sustain this arrangement as well as managing the competing demands of their lives. Using a qualitative approach, semistructured interviews were conducted between March and October 2017. Eight adult females in the United Kingdom who were supporting a parent with dementia to remain living in their home were interviewed. Photo-elicitation was used as an aid to data collection and complemented the use of Thematic Analysis (TA) to analyse verbatim transcripts. Four themes were identified (a) Impact on identity impact of the participants' experience on their sense of identity; (b) Continuity and change relationship redefinition and duality of roles; (c) Stepping up to the challenge adjustment to and coping with competing demands and ethical dilemmas; and (d) Finding help 'It is just a minefield' experiences of help-seeking and service provision. click here This study highlights the experiences and challenges for adult daughters who support a parent with dementia. Ethical dilemmas regarding autonomy and safeguarding concerns figure large along with the competing demands of multiple roles. Service providers should aim to be more proactive in offering timely practical and psychosocial support and guidance to avoid compassion fatigue and acknowledge the valuable unpaid service provided by these 'women in the middle'.Evidence exists relating to music-based initiatives and positive health outcomes for people living with dementia who can access them. Yet, knowledge about the impact of 'music-making' on the well-being of community-dwelling people with dementia is limited. Much of the existing evidence about the benefits of music is focused on care home settings where initiatives can be readily applied as part of a weekly schedule of activities. Therefore, this initiative aimed to provide opportunities to participate in music-making, to increase social interaction and ultimately well-being in a community environment. Ten music-making session were scheduled for community-dwelling people living with dementia and care-partners, once a month between September 2019 and March 2020. Three sessions did not take place due to Covid19. Eighteen participants consented to take part including seven people living with dementia, five care-partners and six former care-partners. Baseline semi-structured interviews explored the lived experience of music and expectations of the upcoming music-making cafes. Self-report questionnaires captured 'in the moment' experiences of each music-making cafe. Follow-up semi-structured interviews explored the impact of music-making on participants' self-reported well-being. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed thematically. The findings demonstrate that participating in the music-making café benefitted the self-reported well-being of participants in three ways first, a sense of camaraderie that enabled the facilitation of connections with others; second, creating opportunities to 'level the playing field' by always assuming a person's strengths and abilities; and third, group participation in music-making meets a need for meaningful musical experiences. We conclude that participating in music-making is a powerful medium to promote well-being for community-dwelling people living with dementia and care-partners.Conventional stylet-driven leads with extendable helix can be implanted successfully for left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) with a low acute complication rate. We report two cases in which lead repositioning after a first unsuccessful attempt to LBBAP was associated with fracture of the helix rotating mechanism and failure to fully extract the pacing lead.Cold-Spray Ionization mass spectrometry (CSI-MS) that can be compared to an electrospray ionization (ESI) source acting with a nebulizing gas cooled by liquid nitrogen is used for analyzing reline as Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES). The association of cholinium chloride salts with urea molecules is evidenced in negative CSI-MS through the chloride adduct formation. The structure of the supramolecular assemblies forming the reline ions that are observed on CSI mass spectra is rationalized by chemical quantum calculations. The theoretical studies indicate that the ionic network organization is only supported by a maximization of hydrogen bonds of the chlorides with the hydroxyl and methyl moieties of the cholinium cations and the amino groups of urea. The studies of gas-phase fragmentation of the supra-molecular ionic assemblies detected in CSI-MS are performed using the in-source collision-induced dissociation experiments. The experimental measurements in CSI-MS, interpreted at the light of the molecular modelization results, suggest that the insertion of urea in adducts of chlorides with cholinium cations does not lead to the most stable ions.
