Methods A retrospective observational study was performed on medical records of 266 patients with inhalation injuries combined with total burn area less than 30%TBSA who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University from January 2008 to December 2016 and met the inclusion criteria. The following statistical data of the patients were collected, including gender, age, injury site, injurious factors of inhalation injury, degree of inhalation injury, combined total burn area, tracheotomy, time of tracheotomy, mechanical ventilation, whether stayed in intensive care unit (ICU) or not, microbial culture results of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, length of hospital stay, length of ICU stay, mechanical ventilation days, and respiratory tract infections. Single factor and multivariate linear regression(odds ratio=1.079, 0.815, 1.400, 1.331, 1.803, 1.958, 0.990, 0.320, 3.094, 95% CI=0.840-1.362, 0.641-1.044, 1.122-1.526, 1.028-1.661, 1.344-2.405, 1.460-2.612, 0.744-1.320, 0.241-0.424, 2.331-4.090, P less then 0.1). Smoke inhalation, degree of inhalation injury, with mechanical ventilation and respiratory tract infections are the factors that affect the outcomes of patients with inhalation injuries combined with total burn area less than 30%TBSA. Additionally, prophylactic tracheotomy shows its potential value in reducing respiratory tract infections in patients with moderate or severe inhalation injuries.Objective To observe the effects of balance training combined with routine training on patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunctions after severe burns. Methods A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. From January 2016 to January 2020, sixty-four patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunction after severe burns who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to Tongren Hospital of Wuhan University&Wuhan Third Hospital. According to the random number table, the patients were divided into routine training (RT) group and combined training (CT) group. There were 32 cases in each group, 22 males and 10 females in RT group, aged 40.5 (35.5, 52.8) years, and 24 males and 8 females in CT group, aged 37.0 (30.0, 44.0) years. Patients in RT group performed conventional treatment including knee joint stretch, continuous passive motion, lower limb muscle strength training, and pressure therapy etc., while patients in CT group received balance training in addition to RT treatment including atients in CT group was significantly higher than that in RT group (t=3.343, P less then 0.01). The balance activity self-confidence scores of patients in RT and CT groups after 4 months of treatment were obviously higher than those before treatment (t=-19.611, -34.300, P less then 0.01). Conclusions Conventional treatment combined with balance training for patients with lower limb motor and balance dysfunctions after severe burns can effectively promote the recovery of their lower limb motor and balance function.The incidence and clinical manifestations of scars and keloids are different in different races, and Asians are more likely to suffer from this disease than Caucasians. China and Japan are the representative countries for medical development in Asia. There is no comprehensive study on the similarities and differences between the academic circles in the two countries in the diagnosis and treatment of scars and keloids. By comparing and analyzing the latest expert consensus in the field of scars and keloids between the two countries, we found that the organization form of expert team and main contents of the consensus from the two countries are basically similar. However, there are obvious differences in the composition of experts, logical thinking and organizational form of consensus contents, and details of the specific schemes for scar assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The differences in the diagnosis and treatment of scars and keloids in China and Japan may indicate the direction of future cooperative research. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from cancer cells are known to modify the tumor microenvironment. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of miR‑125b‑3p carried by EVs in DLBCL in vitro and in vivo. TNFAIP3 expression in patient lesions was measured and the upstream miR that regulates TNFAIP3 was predicted using the starBase database. EVs were isolated from DLBCL cells and identified. DLBCL cells were transfected with pcDNA to overexpress TNFAIP3 or inhibit miR‑125b‑5p expression, incubated with EVs, and treated with rituximab to compare cell growth and TNFAIP3/CD20 expression. DLBCL model mice were administered EVs, conditioned medium, and rituximab to observe changes in tumor size, volume, and weight. TNFAIP3 was downregulated in patients with DLBCL and its levels further decreased in patients with drug‑resistant DLBCL. Overexpression of TNFAIP3 in DLBCL cells enhanced the inhibitory effect of rituximab and increased CD20 expression. miR‑125b‑5p targeted TNFAIP3. Inhibition of miR‑125b‑5p enhanced the inhibitory effect of rituximab in DLBCL cells. The EV‑carried miR‑125b‑5p reduced the sensitivity of DLBCL cells to rituximab, which was averted by overexpression of TNFAIP3. EVs reduced the sensitivity of DLBCL model mice to rituximab via the miR‑125b‑5p/TNFAIP3 axis. The study findings indicate that the tumor‑derived EVs carrying miR‑125b‑5p can enter DLBCL cells and target TNFAIP3, thus reducing the sensitivity of DLBCL to rituximab, which may provide a novel therapeutic approach for DLBCL.We previously reported that high expression of procollagen‑lysine 2‑oxoglutarate 5‑dioxygenase 2 (PLOD2) leads to stabilization and plasma membrane translocation of integrin β1 to promote the invasion and metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The present study aimed to further understand the relationship between PLOD2‑integrin β1 signaling and the tumor microenvironment. This study provided further advanced insights indicating that elevated interleukin (IL)‑6 in the tumor microenvironment acts as a key molecule that triggers PLOD2‑integrin β1 axis‑derived acceleration of tumor invasion and metastasis. It was found using the dual‑luciferase reporter assay system that signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) activation by IL‑6 was essential for increasing the expression levels of PLOD2 through direct activation of the PLOD2 promoter in oral SCC, whereas IL‑6 stimulation did not contribute to integrin β1 expression or the subsequent maturation process towards a functional form on the plasma membrane. Furthermore, the expression of IL‑6 in oral SCC tissues was mainly observed in the tumor stroma. Finally, with double immunofluorescence staining, it was found that IL‑6 expression occurred in CD163‑positive M2 macrophages distributed around the tumor nest. These results combined with our previous results indicate that as IL‑6 significantly increases STAT3‑mediated PLOD2 promoter activity, IL‑6 released by M2‑type tumor‑associated macrophages is a crucial factor that promotes PLOD2‑integrin β1 axis‑enhanced invasion and metastasis of oral SCC cells.

This study evaluated the diagnostic performance of contrast-enhanced voiding urosonography (ce-VUS) using a second-generation ultrasound contrast agent for the diagnosis of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) and intrarenal reflux (IRR), and compared it with that of standard fluoroscopic voiding cystourethrography (VCUG).

Thirty-two consecutive children from April to September 2019 were included in this study. ce-VUS and VCUG were performed simultaneously by two operators with intravesical infusion of a mixture of ultrasound contrast medium, iodinated contrast medium and water. Two pediatric radiologists independently reviewed the ce-VUS and VCUG images and reported the presence and degree of VUR (grades I-V), and the presence and type of IRR.

Twenty-seven of 63 urinary systems showed VUR. Interobserver agreement for VUR grading was very good for both examinations (κ=0.87; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.82 to 0.92 for ce-VUS and κ=0.92; 95% CI, 0.87 to 0.96 for VCUG). The detection rate of VUR showed no significant difference between the two examinations (P=0.370). Four cases of VUR were missed on ce-VUS, while one case of VUR was missed on VCUG. All four false-negative cases on ce-VUS were grade 1 VUR. The two examinations showed very good agreement regarding VUR grading (κ =0.89; 95% CI, 0.81 to 0.96). IRR was more frequently detected with ce-VUS than with VCUG (10 cases with ce-VUS vs. 3 cases with VCUG, P=0.016).

Catastrophic wear is a rare outcome following Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA), documented to happen in less than 0.5% of THA. We present 5 cases of revision THA performed successfully on 5 patients presenting Catastrophic wear, following Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA). Specifically, Catastrophic wear cases were selected, emphasizing differential diagnosis, and a revision THA was performed in all of them and resulted in a good long-term outcome. The purpose of this case series is to contribute to the literature in evaluating both the causes of implant failure as well as the outcomes after their revisions.

We evaluated 5 patients that presented Catastrophic rupture of acetabular implants in a 3-week period in our prosthesis center.

The 5 patients were females, the mean age was 56 years (44-65), the mean post-surgery time was 20 years (17-23), 4/5 of the coupling wear was ceramic-polyethylene and only one case was metal-polyethylene; 4/5 had bilateral total hip replacement. In the 5 cases a revision THA was performed, all with a successful outcome.
