RESULTS Mean patients' age was 39.9 ± 5.8 years; they demonstrated a BMI of 23.9 ± 4.6 kg/m2 and antiMullerian hormone (AMH) of 1.7 ± 2.4 ng/mL; 21.3% were parous, 19.1% reported no prior pregnancy losses, 36.2% 1-2 and 6.4% ≥ 3 losses. Karyotypes were normal in 34% and abnormal in 66%. Adjusted for BMI, women with elevated CRP were more likely to experience euploid pregnancy loss (p = 0.03). This relationship persisted when controlled for female age and AMH. CONCLUSIONS Women with elevated CRP levels were more likely to experience first trimester miscarriage with normal fetal karyotype. This relationship suggests an association between subclinical inflammation and miscarriage.PURPOSE To investigate the role and underlying mechanism of H19 in regulating angiogenic capacity of extravillous trophoblasts. METHODS Gain and loss of function experiments were performed using a human first-trimester extravillous trophoblast (EVT) cell line, HTR-8/SVneo cells. H19 was overexpressed or knocked down in HTR-8 cells by transfecting plasmid harboring whole-length H19 sequence (pH19) or siRNA specially targeting H19, respectively (siH19). Cell migration and tube-formation assay were assessed in the indicated groups. Gene expression was detected by RT-qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA assay. RESULTS Overexpression of H19 in EVT cells increased cell migration and tube formation, while downregulation of H19 in EVT cells decreased cell migration and tube formation. 2-NBDG Furthermore, we found that H19 played its role by VEGFA. In addition, we demonstrated the H19/miR-106a-5p/VEGFA regulatory axis in EVT. Experiments of the clinical specimen showed that H19 was very abundantly expressed in human first-trimester trophoblasts, and we found that the expression of H19 and VEGFA were significantly downregulated in the villous tissues from idiopathic recurrent miscarriage (RM) patients; moreover, the expression of H19 and VEGFA was positively correlated. CONCLUSION H19/miR-106a-5p/VEGFA axis plays a role in regulating the angiogenic capacity of EVT, which might contribute to idiopathic RM.OBJECTIVE Guidelines on safe use of iodinated contrast material recommend intravenous prophylactic hydration to prevent post-contrast adverse (renal) effects. Recently, guidelines have been updated and standard prophylaxis is no longer recommended for the majority of patients. The current study aims to evaluate the consequences for clinical practice of the updated guidelines in terms of complications, hospitalisations, and costs. METHODS The Contrast-Induced Nephropathy After Reduction of the prophylaxis Threshold (CINART) project is a retrospective observational study. All elective procedures with intravascular iodinated contrast administration at Maastricht University Medical Centre (UMC+) in patients aged > 18 years, formerly eligible for prophylaxis (eGFR 30-44 ml/min/1.73 m2 or eGFR 45-59 ml/min/1.73 m2 in combination with diabetes or > 1 predefined risk factor), and currently eligible for prophylaxis (eGFR less then  30 ml/min/1.73 m2) were included. Data were used to calculate relative reductions in cractice guidelines recommend prophylactic intravenous hydration to prevent post-contrast adverse outcomes such as contrast-induced acute kidney injury. • Clinical practice guidelines have recently been updated, and standard prophylaxis is no longer recommended for the majority of patients. • The guideline updates have a large impact on daily clinical practice relative reductions at Maastricht UMC+ were - 89% prophylaxis complications, - 93% hospitalisations, and - 91% costs, and similar reductions are expected for Dutch and adherent European medical centres.OBJECTIVES In some cardiac pathologies, impairment of left ventricular (LV) longitudinal function may precede reduction in LV ejection fraction. This study investigates the effectiveness of a fast method to quantify long-axis LV function compared to conventional feature tracking and manual approaches. METHODS The study consisted of 50 normal controls and 100 heart failure (HF) patients including 40 with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), 30 with mid-range ejection fraction (HFmrEF), and 30 with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Parameters including fast long-axis strain (FLAS) at end-systole and peak strain rates during systole (FLASRs), early diastole (FLASRe), and atrial contraction (FLASRa) were derived by a fast semi-automated approach on cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance. RESULTS FLAS exhibited good agreement with strain values obtained using conventional feature tracking (bias - 2.9%, limits of agreement ± 3.0%) and the manual approach (bias 0.6%, limits of agreement ± 2.1%), where FLAS was more compared to conventional feature tracking and the manual approach. • Progressive reductions in left ventricular long-axis strain and strain rate measurements were observed from HFpEF, HFmrEF, to HFrEF group. • Based on long-axis strain, systolic abnormalities were evident in HFmrEF and HFpEF indicating common coexistence of systolic and diastolic dysfunction in the HF phenotypes.OBJECTIVE This study was conducted in order to assess the diagnostic accuracy of LI-RADS v2018 ancillary features (AFs) favoring malignancy applied to LR-3 and LR-4 observations on gadoxetate-enhanced MRI. METHODS In this retrospective dual-institution study, we included consecutive patients at high risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) imaged with gadoxetate disodium-enhanced MRI between 2009 and 2014 fulfilling the following criteria (i) at least one LR-3 or LR-4 observation ≥ 10 mm; (ii) nonrim arterial phase hyperenhancement; and (iii) confirmation of benignity or malignancy by pathology or imaging follow-up. We compared the distribution of AFs between HCCs and benign observations and the diagnostic performance for the diagnosis of HCC using univariate and multivariate analyses. Significance was set at p value less then  0.05. RESULTS Two hundred five observations were selected in 155 patients (108 M, 47 F) including 167 (81.5%) LR-3 and 38 (18.5%) LR-4. There were 126 (61.5%) HCCs and 79 (28.5%) benign lesions.
