Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a severe subtype of stroke with high mortality and morbidity. Serpin Family E Member 1 (SERPINE1) has been documented to be upregulated following ICH, however, the participation of SERPINE1 in the development of ICH has never been studied.

Hemin was utilized to develop an in vitro model of ICH. Gene levels were evaluated by the use of quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, as well as enzyme-linked immunoassay assay. The activity of caspase-3 was determined using a commercial kit. Cell viability and apoptosis were assessed using 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay and Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) d UTP Nick-End Labeling assay.

COVID-19 patients faced first-hand the life-threatening consequences of the disease, oftentimes involving prolonged hospitalization in isolation from family and friends. This study aimed at describing the psychological intervention to address the psychological difficulties and issues encountered by the hospitalized post-acute COVID-19 patients in a rehabilitation setting.

Patients' demographics, medical diagnosis, and neuro-psychological information were collected from March 2

to May 12

, 2020. The main psychological issues and intervention strategies were collected.

A total of 181 patients were hospitalized during this period. Among them, the 47.5% underwent psychological assessment (N=86; age 74.58±13.39; 54.7% females). The most common psychological issues were acute stress disorders (18.6%), anxious and demoralization symptoms (26.7%), depression (10.5%%), and troublesome grief (8.1%). Once recovered from COVID-19, many patients were discharged home (38.4%), some received further rehabilitation iring the COVID-19 pandemic, psychological intervention is an important part of rehabilitation in the post-acute phase of the illness to reduce distress symptoms and improve psychological health.

Albumin levels have been reported to be associated with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between serum albumin and prognosis of ischemic stroke patients after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) treatment.

Patients with EVT due to large artery occlusion in anterior circulation were selected from ACTUAL (endovascular treatment for acute anterior circulation) ischemic stroke multicenter registry in China. Serum albumin levels were measured within 24 h of admission. The primary outcome was poor functional outcome (modified Rankin scale score of 3-6) at three months. Secondary outcomes were symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) and three-month mortality.

A total of 605 patients (mean age, 64.2 years; 59.3% male) were enrolled. Up to three months after stroke, 342 patients (56.5%) developed poor functional outcome. After multivariate adjustment for demographic characteristics, National Institutes of Health stroke score, and other potential confounders, the odds ratio for the lowest tertile of serum albumin levels was 2.43 (95%CI, 1.18-5.01;

=0.046) for poor functional outcome, compared with the highest category. Restricted cubic spline regression demonstrated a linear association between albumin levels and poor functional outcome (

Depression is the common mental disorder in the world. However, the pathophysiology mechanism underlying depression remains elusive. It has been reported that aberrant expression of miR-144 is closely related to depression. This study was to investigate whether and how miR-144 involves in depressive-like behaviors in a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) animal model.

A rat model of CUMS was established, and qRT-PCR was performed to detect the expression of miR-144 in the hippocampus of a depressed rat. The lentiviral vector carried miR-144 (LV-miR-144) was injected into the hippocampus of the CUMS rat to investigate the effects of miR-144 on the behaviors and PTP1B/TrkB/BDNF signal transduction in the hippocampus of the rat. The interaction between miR-144 and PTP1B was investigated by biological analyses and dual-luciferase reporter assay.

The results showed that CUMS rats had typical depressive behaviors, and the expression of miR-144 in the hippocampus of CUMS rats was significantly lower than that of the control group. In addition, PTP1B protein expression was significantly up-regulated, while the expression of pTrkB and BDNF protein was significantly down-regulated in the hippocampus of CUMS rats. Moreover, PTP1B was a direct target of miR-144, and miR-144 could activate the downstream TrkB/BDNF signaling pathway by inhibiting the expression of PTP1B in primary hippocampus neurons.

Hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) are both characterized by generalized hypermobility, in combination with pain, affected proprioception, and pronounced fatigue. Clinical observation indicates that behavioral problems, hyperactivity, and autistic traits are overrepresented in children with those conditions. The purpose of this retrospective study was to establish the prevalence of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) among children with HSD and hEDS treated in our clinic since 2012.

Since Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) diagnostic criteria and international classification were changed in 2017, we equate the older diagnosis EDS hypermobility type with the newer hEDS and the older hypermobility syndrome with HSD. A registry search from the computerized medical record system found 201 children (88 boys, 113 girls) aged 6-18 years who were treated at our pediatrics department with the diagnoses HSD or EDS. All medicaerefore, children with HSD or hEDS may need to be routinely screened for neuropsychiatric symptoms.

Epilepsy, defined as seizure activity that is recurrent, unpredictable, and typically unprovoked. It is one of the most common disorders of the nervous system. Sociocultural attitudes in many African nations continue to have a negative impact on epilepsy management. It has been found that stigma and discrimination against people with epilepsy are more devastating and harmful than the illness itself. link3 This is mainly attributed to misconceptions about the disease with fear and fright of the public on confronting an epileptic seizure. So, the current study assesses the community's attitude toward epilepsy patients and associated factors towards epilepsy in South Achefer District, Northwest Ethiopia.

Community-based cross-sectional study triangulated with the qualitative method was conducted from March 1 to May 30, 2020 in South Achefer District. A systematic sampling technique was used to select a total of 762 individuals. Data were collected by face-to-face interview using a structured questionnaire and analformation about epilepsy, witnessing seizure, and knowledge about epilepsy showed a significant association with attitude. Therefore, health professional and health extension workers should provide a larger and comprehensive community-based education to enhance people's knowledge about epilepsy to bring attitude change against a negative attitude towards epilepsy.

The favorable attitude of the community towards epilepsy patients was found high in the study area. Information about epilepsy, witnessing seizure, and knowledge about epilepsy showed a significant association with attitude. Therefore, health professional and health extension workers should provide a larger and comprehensive community-based education to enhance people's knowledge about epilepsy to bring attitude change against a negative attitude towards epilepsy.
