Methods Elite male hockey players (N = 16) wore player-tracking devices in six international matches. Sprint efforts were defined using four separate classifications speed >5.5 m∙s-1, acceleration >1.5 m∙s-2, speed-or-acceleration, and Pmet >25.5 W∙kg-1. RS bouts were defined as ≥3 efforts with mean recovery ≤21 s. For Pmet, RS bouts were also classified using a maximal recovery period ≤21 s. The number of sprint efforts and RS bouts, and the number of efforts, effort durations and recovery periods within RS bouts, were compared across each classification method, and between mean and maximal recovery criteria. Results More RS bouts were identified via Pmet (8.5 ± 2.8) than either speed and/or acceleration, and comprised more efforts (4.0 ± 0.4) with shorter recovery periods (11.5 ± 1.8 s). Fewer RS bouts (7.3 ± 2.8 vs. 8.5 ± 2.8) were identified with a maximum rather than mean recovery criterion. Conclusions Definitions of sprint efforts and recovery periods which reflect ATP depletion and replenishment via Pmet suggest that RS activity occurs frequently in team sport competition, and is more demanding than when speed and/or acceleration are used to define RS activity in variable-speed locomotion.A large peak hip adduction angle during running is a risk factor for several overuse injuries in women. The purpose of this study was to determine if female runners with a large peak hip adduction angle have differences in eccentric hip abductor muscle strength, hip neuromuscular control, and/or hip width to femoral length ratio (HWFL) compared to those with a small angle. Hip adduction during running, hip strength, hip control, and HWFL were measured in sixty healthy female runners (1.66 ± 0.06 m; 63.2 ± 8.3 kg; 27 ± 6 years). Data from twenty runners with the largest and twenty with the smallest peak hip adduction angles were analysed. Between-group differences in hip strength, control, and HWFL were determined using independent t-tests (p less then 0.05). Variables that were significantly different between groups were entered into a regression model. Runners in both groups had similar hip strength (p = 0.90) and control (p = 0.65). HWFL was greater in the large peak angle group (p = 0.04), but only explained a small amount of peak hip adduction angle variance for all sixty runners (R2 = 0.05). Methods Participants, PWP (n = 60) and OA (n = 34) performed the F8W, usual straight path walking, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and the Late-Life Function and Disability Instrument (LLFDI). Results Among PWP, F8W time and steps related to usual gait speed (r = -0.660, -0.650); stride time variability (r = 0.377, 0.438); cognition (r = -0.293, time only); and physical function (r = -0.532, - 0.619), all p less then .05. Area under the curve (AUC) analyses demonstrated greater sensitivity and specificity of F8W performance (0.811, 0.790) compared to usual gait speed (0.729) to recognize the motor skill of walking in PWP from that of OA. Conclusion The F8W is a valid indicator of the motor skill of walking in PWP. The development of phage-based therapy combined with antibiotics might be an advantageous weapon in the arms race between human and MDR bacteria. A cocktail composed of the MDR Acinetobacter baumannii infecting bacteriophages with high lytic activity was used in combination with antibiotics to destroy a bacterial biofilm in human urine. A. baumannii exhibited varying susceptibility to the host range of bacteriophages used in this study, ranging from 56% to 84%. This study demonstrated that bacteriophages could reduce biofilm biomass in a human urine model, and some of the antibiotics commonly used in the treatment of urinary tract infection (UTI) act synergistically with phage cocktails. Moreover, we also investigated whether collective identity moderates the relations among deviant peer affiliation, perceived social support, and substance rehabilitation. The participants were 430 male substance abstainers who completed a battery of questionnaires. The Chinese versions of the Deviant Peer Affiliation Questionnaire, Motivation for Abstention Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale and Identity Orientation Scale were used. The results showed that all the dimensions of deviant peer affiliation were negatively associated with the dimensions of substance abstention motivation. Moreover, perceived social support partially mediated the relations between deviant peer affiliation and substance abstention motivation. Additionally, collective identity was a significant moderator of the relations between perceived social support and substance abstention motivation. These findings provide a clearer understanding regarding the impact of deviant peer affiliation and perceived social support on substance abstention motivation in individuals with substance use disorder.Risk assessment in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) mainly relies on (cyto-)genetic and morphologic features. Nonetheless, further markers are needed to allow for accurate risk stratification. Type I Fc gamma receptors (FcγRs) such as CD16, CD32, and CD64 play an important role in mediating immunomodulatory functions in different myeloid cell types as well as NK and B cells. We here evaluated expression of the three FcγR on peripheral blood AML blasts. Using flow cytometry, we found heterogeneous expression of the FcγR throughout the patient cohort. Correlation of expression levels with disease outcome revealed significantly shorter OS in patients with CD16+ blasts at first diagnosis. CD32 and CD64 expression showed no association with survival but correlated with a mature phenotype and FAB M6. Our data provide clear evidence for the value of immunophenotyping FcγR expression on leukemic cells using peripheral blood, which is rapidly available and improves risk stratification in AML.
