The aim of this paper is to explain the new nomothetic network psychiatry (NNP) approach, which uses machine learning methods to build data-driven causal models of mental illness by assembling risk-resilience, adverse outcome pathways (AOP), cognitome, brainome, staging, symptomatome, and phenomenome latent scores in a causal model. The latter may be trained, tested and validated with Partial Least Squares analysis. This approach not only allows to compute pathway-phenotypes or biosignatures, but also to construct reliable and replicable nomothetic networks, which are, therefore, generalizable as disease models. After integrating the validated feature vectors into a well-fitting nomothetic network, clustering analysis may be applied on the latent variable scores of the R/R, AOP, cognitome, brainome, and phenome latent vectors. This pattern recognition method may expose new (transdiagnostic) classes of patients which if cross-validated in independent samples may constitute new (transdiagnostic) nosological categories.

Epistaxis can be an isolated finding or a manifestation of a systemic disease. Some of the potential etiologies are usage of anticoagulants, bleeding disorders, vascular aneurysms, nasal neoplasm, hypertension and nasal steroids. Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) as a cause of recurrent epistaxis is uncommon.

In this report, we describe an 18-year-old adolescent with recurrent epistaxis, mucocutaneous telangiectasia and family history of HHT, consistent with HHT.

The effect of nanoparticle inclusion on the fermentation process was investigated at different stages which were pre-treatment, liquefaction, saccharification and fermentation. Inclusion of NiO NPs at the pre-treatment stage gave a 1.60-fold increase and 2.10-fold reduction in bioethanol and acetic acid concentration respectively. Kinetic data on the bioethanol production fit the modified Gompertz model (R 2 > 0.98). The lowest production lag time (t L) of 1.56 h, and highest potential bioethanol concentration (P m) of 32 g/L were achieved with NiO NPs inclusion at different process stages; the liquefaction stage and the pre-treatment phase, respectively. Elevated bioethanol yield, coupled with substantial reduction in process inhibitors in the NIISF processes, demonstrated the significance of point of nanobiocatalysts inclusion for the scale-up development of bioethanol production from potato peels.

weeks presented at a university hospital with a history of nausea and vomiting since 20weeks. Other symptoms included slight headache and 5-kg weight loss. She had attended and been admitted to several hospitals during that time. Laboratory evaluation revealed evidence of hepatic dysfunction with elevated liver enzymes. The patient's headache worsened, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed an extra-axial mass in the right tentorial and supratentorial spaces, with brain herniation. Caesarean section and brain tumour resection were performed under general anaesthesia at the same time. Histopathological analysis revealed HPC (World Health Organization [WHO] grade III). The present study investigated the beneficial effect of Ocimum gratissimum extract (OG) in reducing lead acetate (LA) induced oxidative damage in the spleen, thymus, and hematological indices. We employed an in vivo model of LA induced Wistar rats and administered 125 mg/kg/bw and 250 mg/kg/bw of OG extracts respectively. Our control groups were divided into 2; the first group received normal saline, feed, and water while the second group was administered OG extracts only. We assessed the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) in the thymus and spleen and estimated percentages of blood cells. Our results showed that LA induces oxidative damage by significantly elevating MDA and diminishing GSH levels, SOD, and CAT activities. LA administration led to a significant decline in blood parameters. However, co-administration with OG compensated oxidative stress by significantly reducing MDA, increasing GSH, SOD, and CAT. Oral administration of OG to rats attenuated anemia, thrombocytopenia, leucocytosis, eosinophilia, monocytosis, and neutropenia induced by LA. We describe the case of an inner thigh urinary fistula in a patient treated with radical prostatectomy and adjuvant radiation therapy for PCa.
