The results support the assumption that the caput collum diaphyseal angle has an influence on fracture type of the proximal femur. This could possibly be a predictor for the fracture type of the contralateral hip (second fracture). Based on this, present data may benefit prosthetists in developing new and more efficient hip protectors.

Total knee arthroplasty surgery (TKA) using prenavigated Patient Specific Instruments (PSI) technique represents one of the most recent technological evolutions in development of prosthetic surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate kinematic and functional recovery of patients operated with prenavigated PSI technique compared to those operated with traditional technique.
A cohort of 20 patients is divided in two groups; some are operated with traditional technique (with NexGen Knee system) and others with prenavigated PSI technique (with eMP Knee system) at Asiago Hospital. Limb circumferences are measured for edema evaluation and different evaluation forms are provided to patients SF-36, KSS pre-surgery (T0), KSS 15 (T1) and 45 days after surgery (T2).

The analysis of KSS and SF-36 evaluation forms shows a greater improvement in PSI Evolution group in terms of articulation (comparison between T0 and T1), knee function and early return to physical and social activities. Pain is lesser in NexGen group, in an earlier phase, but 45 days after surgery (T2) there are no significant differences between two groups. Perception of general state of health improves more and earlier in NexGen. In NexGen group edema evaluation had significant differences at the level of prosthetic leg, but not in knee and thigh. Overall the walking pattern is more physiological in PSI Evolution group.

Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) is used in patients with osteoarthritis who have failed conservative management to reduce pain, improve functional outcomes and ultimately quality of life. However, less than optimal patient satisfaction has led to continued improvements in design and technology of TKA. One factor that can limit patient satisfaction is postero-lateral overhang of the tibial baseplate. The purpose of our study is to utilize pre-operative CT scans to assess the prevalence of posterolateral tibial overhang with the use of a symmetric tibial baseplate component in a popular knee system with robotic assistance.

The current study appraised the potential of hydrogen peroxide through seed pre-treatment on the seedling growth and defense responses of three wheat cultivars i.e. PBW 644 (tolerant), PBW 621 and HD 2967 (sensitive) grown under drought stress. Imposition of drought stress reduced seedling growth of all the three wheat cultivars. Pre-treatment of seeds with 60 mM H2O2 alleviated water stress induced growth inhibition in all the three wheat cultivars. selleck inhibitor Further, it enhanced the drought tolerance of PBW 644 by upregulating SOD, POX, APX and GR enzymes accompanied by an increase in total phenols and ascorbate content. This was a retrospective study of hospitalized COVID-19 patients over 18 years old between March 2020 and May 2020. Patients were diagnosed to have COVID-19 based either on chest computed tomography findings or reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction test. Age, gender, chronic medical conditions, and laboratory values including hemogram parameters (white blood cell, neutrophil, lymphocyte, and platelet counts), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, D-dimer, ferritin, fibrinogen, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time and the international normalized ratio were recorded. Overall, we included 302 patients. Of these, 148 patients were male; the male to female ratio was 0.961. The mean age of the entire study cohort was 57.1 ± 17.6 years. The most common chronic medical condition was hypertension (38.1%). Half of the patients received low molecular weight heparin.
