006). Cox proportional hazard regression revealed that the adjusted hazard ratio of calcific tendinopathy in diabetic patients to that in non-diabetic patients was 1.276 (95% confidence interval 1.037-1.571, P=.002). Moreover, the stratified analysis disclosed that DM was a strong independent risk factor for calcific tendinopathy irrespective of the existing comorbidities.
This study demonstrated that patients with DM had a 27% increased risk of developing calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder, 8years after initially being diagnosed with DM.

However, reanalysis of vegetation surveys shows that the negative effect of native richness is statistically significant whether or not predictors of species richness are included.A novel visible-light-driven catalytic activation of C=O bonds by exploiting the photoredox chemistry of 1,3,2-dioxaphospholes, readily accessible from α-diketones and trialkyl phosphites, is reported. This mild and environmentally friendly strategy provides an unprecedented and efficient access to the Wolff rearrangement reaction which traditionally entails α-diazoketones as precursors. The resulting ketenes could be precisely trapped by alcohols/thiols to give α-aryl (thio)acetates and by imines to afford the valuable β-lactams in up to 99 % yields. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Integrative Community Therapy on depression symptoms in adolescents in the school context. This is a quantitative, quasi-experimental, pre-, and post-test study that compared depression scores before and after the Integrative Community Therapy intervention was applied, conducted with 56 adolescent students. The guidelines recommended by the Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence were used to present this study. The instruments used for data collection were the following Participants' characterization, Economic Classification, and the Children's Depression Inventory. This depression inventory was applied before and after the intervention was carried out. Most of the participants presented depressive symptoms (53.6%). Girls presented higher depression scores and were more likely to develop depression; to be working proved to be a protective factor for depression and adolescents with depression symptoms presented a higher proportion of suicidal ideation. The analysis of the depression variable indicated a reduction of the scores in the post-intervention period; however, in the gender analysis, there was a reduction in the depression scores only for the girls. The Integrative Community Therapy was an effective intervention in reducing depression scores, being a relevant strategy for healthcare services and schools in assisting adolescents to deal with their emotions, mitigate psycho-emotional suffering, and contribute as a support tool in the context of vulnerabilities inherent to the process of becoming an adolescent.
To predict the risk of hypoglycaemia using machine-learning techniques in hospitalized patients.
We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients hospitalized under general internal medicine (GIM) and cardiovascular surgery (CV) at a tertiary care teaching hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Three models were generated using supervised machine learning least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression; gradient-boosted trees; and a recurrent neural network. Each model included baseline patient data and time-varying data. Natural-language processing was used to incorporate text data from physician and nursing notes.
We included 8492 GIM admissions and 8044 CV admissions. Hypoglycaemia occurred in 16% of GIM admissions and 13% of CV admissions. The area under the curve for the models in the held-out validation set was approximately 0.80 on the GIM ward and 0.82 on the CV ward. read more When the threshold for hypoglycaemia was lowered to 2.9 mmol/L (52 mg/dL), similar results were observed. Among the patients at the highest decile of risk, the positive predictive value was approximately 50% and the sensitivity was 99%.
Machine-learning approaches can accurately identify patients at high risk of hypoglycaemia in hospital. Future work will involve evaluating whether implementing this model with targeted clinical interventions can improve clinical outcomes.

Spirituality is a fundamental dimension of our human nature that impacts on medical care and yet is relatively neglected by medical education courses in Australia.
This systematic review was conducted to assess the curriculum content currently used to develop medical student understanding of, and engagement with, spirituality in the context of patient care.
Studies published in English from 2010 to the review date were included in order to focus on the most recent curricula. Studies included medical students in undergraduate or postgraduate programs, doctors in resident training programs, and registrars. Interventions considered for inclusion were curriculum modules on communication skills in spirituality, spiritual needs assessments and holistic care planning. Six databases including PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, Embase, Medline, and CINAHL were searched electronically using the following keywords and MeSH search terms- 'medical students', 'doctor', 'physician', 'spirituality', 'spiritual care', 'religion', 'education', 'history taking' and 'communication skills training' from 2010 to 2020.
For 342 articles, three researchers screened the titles and abstracts; disagreements were resolved by discussion. Full-text articles were assessed for eligibility based on study and report characteristics 17 papers were included in the analysis. Curriculum content of each study was reviewed. The following key features were employed frequently chaplain shadowing, communications skills training, self-reflection, examining evidence and relationship building.
