Apple (Malus) is one of the most widely grown fruit trees worldwide, and viral diseases can severely inhibit its growth and development. Apple rubbery wood virus 2 (ARWV-2, family Phenuiviridae) is a negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus whose genome comprises three RNA segments (large L, medium M, and small S) (Rott et al. 2018). This virus is associated with apple rubbery wood disease (Rott et al. 2018) and has previously been found in pear (Pyrus spp.) in China (Wang et al. 2019). In autumn 2019, six trees (one each of cvs. Honglu, Hongzhengzhu, Jinxiuhaitang, Liquanduanfu, Huahong-1, and Huahong-2) showing mosaic disease-like symptoms in the leaves and two trees (one each of cvs. Qingming-1 and Qingming-2) showing rusty skin symptoms (i.e., a large number of irregular rust spots on the peel's surface) in the fruits were found in Xingcheng, Liaoning province, China. Shoots of the diseased plants were collected, and total RNA was extracted from the phloem of the samples as described by Hu et al. (2015). ARWV-2 affects the performance and quality of apple. An Enterobacter roggenkampii strain, named KQ-01, was isolated for the first time from the diseased roots of the bacterial wilt-resistant mulberry (Morus atropurpurea) cultivar YS283 in the western part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. E. roggenkampii KQ-01 was characterized by a single, circular chromosome of 4,667,006 bp in size, with a 56.16% GC content. In total, 4,396 genes were annotated, of which 4,281 were assigned as protein-coding genes. In addition, 25 ribosomal RNA, 84 transfer RNA, and 6 noncoding RNA genes as well as 34 pseudogenes were predicted. The resource herein presented will help to explore the pathogenetic mechanisms of mulberry wilt disease caused by genus Enterobacter.Biomechanical factors play an extremely important role in regulating the function of articular chondrocytes. Understanding the mechanical factors that drive chondrocyte biological responses is at the heart of our interpretation of cascade events leading to changes in articular cartilage osteoarthritis. The mechanism by which mechanical load is transduced into intracellular signals that can regulate chondrocyte gene expression remains largely unknown. Ribociclib The mechanically sensitive ion channel (MSC) may be one of its specific mechanisms. This review focuses on four ion channels involved in the mechanotransduction of chondrocytes, exploring their properties and the main factors that activate the associated pathways. The upstream and downstream potential relationships between the protein pathways were also explored. The specific biophysical mechanism of the chondrocyte mechanical microenvironment is becoming the focus of research. Elucidating the mechanotransduction mechanism of MSC is essential for the research of biophysical pathogenesis and targeted drugs in cartilage injury-related diseases.

Readmission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is associated with a high risk of in-hospital mortality and higher health care costs. Previously published tools to predict ICU readmission in surgical ICU patients have important limitations that restrict their clinical implementation. We sought to develop a clinically intuitive score that can be implemented to predict readmission to the ICU after surgery or trauma. We designed the score to emphasize modifiable predictors.

In this retrospective cohort study, we included surgical patients requiring critical care between June 2015 and January 2019 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, MA, USA. We used logistic regression to fit a prognostic model for ICU readmission from a priori defined, widely available candidate predictors. The score performance was compared with existing prediction instruments.

Of 7,126 patients, 168 (2.4%) were readmitted to the ICU during the same hospitalization. The final score included 8 variables addressingssion. The simplicity of the score facilitates its clinical implementation across surgical divisions.

Older (aged 50+) cannabis users are growing in numbers, but research on poison control center (PCC) cases has not focused on them. In this study, we examined (1) changing trends in cannabis forms reported in PCC cases; (2) demographic and clinical factors associated with different cannabis forms; and (3) associations between cannabis forms and medical outcomes.

We used the American Association of Poison Control Centers' National Poison Data System (NPDS), January 1, 2009-December 31, 2019, to examine the 5201 cases aged 50+ in which cannabis was the only or primary substance. Following descriptive analyses, multinomial logistic regression was fit to examine associations of three cannabis forms (dried/undried plant, other preparations, and synthetic cannabinoids/e-cigarettes for cannabis delivery) with cases' demographic and clinical characteristics, and binary logistic regression was fit to examine associations of medical outcomes (major/potentially major vs. nonmajor) with cannabis forms.

Cannabis-relaly few, cases of other cannabis preparations than plant forms increased rapidly in recent years while cases of synthetic cannabinoids decreased. The rate of major medical outcomes also appears to be high.

Although PCC cannabis cases involving older adults are relatively few, cases of other cannabis preparations than plant forms increased rapidly in recent years while cases of synthetic cannabinoids decreased. The rate of major medical outcomes also appears to be high.

Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) has been underused in Britain and internationally since its introduction. 'Stigmatisation' has been identified as one of the barriers to EHC. However, few, if any publications have focussed on the significance of this factor in the British context, the social meanings for women of seeking EHC and the implications for future contraceptive provision and innovation.

In-depth qualitative material from 27 women across two British studies was analysed. The first, in which 11 young women were interviewed in-depth regarding EHC specifically, was supplemented by material from a multi-stage narrative study of 15 women concerning their life history experiences of using contraception more broadly.

Stigmatisation of EHC use is a key barrier and derives from associations with irresponsible behaviour. This irresponsibility exists on a continuum with some behaviours and some women more ir/responsible than others. In addition, despite not being an abortifacient, EHC may be closely aligned with abortion meaning users can be perceived as 'bad women' in a similar way to abortion seekers.
