It has been found that the model error increases as the cone-beam angle increases in both algorithms. However, the model errors are smaller in the combined half-scan image reconstruction when the cone-beam angle is as large as 10 degrees. The accurate segmentation of retinal vascular is of great significance for the diagnosis of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, microaneurysms and arteriosclerosis. In order to segment more deep and small blood vessels and provide more information to doctors, a multi-scale joint optimization strategy for retinal vascular segmentation is presented in this paper. Firstly, the Multi-Scale Retinex (MSR) algorithm is used to improve the uneven illumination of fundus images. Then, the multi-scale Gaussian matched filtering method is used to enhance the contrast of the retinal images. Optimized by the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, Otsu algorithm (OTSU) multi-threshold segmentation is utilized to segment the retinal image extracted by the multi-scale matched filtering method. read more Finally, the image is post-processed, including binarization, morphological operation and edge-contour removal. The test experiments are implemented on the DRIVE and STARE datasets to evaluate the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method. Compared with other existing methods, it can be concluded that the proposed method can segment more small blood vessels while ensuring the integrity of vascular structure and has a higher performance. The proposed method has more obvious targets, a higher contrast, more plentiful detailed information, and local features. The qualitative and quantitative analysis results show that the presented method is superior to the other advanced methods. In this paper, an adaptation method for adjusting the scaling parameters of an unscented Kalman filter (UKF) is proposed to improve the estimation performance of the filter in dynamic conditions. The proposed adaptation method is based on a sequential algorithm that selects the scaling parameter using the user-defined distribution of discrete sets to more effectively deal with the changing measurement distribution over time and avoid the additional process for training a filter model. The adaptation method employs regularized optimal transport (ROT), which compensates for the error of the predicted measurement with the current measurement values to select the proper scaling parameter. In addition, the Sinkhorn-Knopp algorithm is used to minimize the cost function of ROT due to its fast convergence rate, and the convergence of the proposed ROT-based adaptive adjustment method is also analyzed. According to the analysis results of Monte Carlo simulations, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance than the conventional algorithms in terms of the scaling parameter selection in the UKF.This paper presents the details of our research and the activities involved. Japan is one of the most advanced countries in medicine worldwide. However, in terms of technology, knowledge sharing, and successor development, Japanese medicine lags behind other developed countries, and these matters require addressing. The country is also facing a shortage of doctors, among other things, and this medical problem will surely become critical in the near future. In this study, we aim to help solve such problems from the medical engineering viewpoint, analyze and create systems based on the experience of doctors from the engineering viewpoint, and make it easy for patients to understand orthodox and general statistical analysis methods. We perform a visualization and quantitative medical data analysis and examine diagnostic support. We consider sleep apnea syndrome (SAS), and orthostatic dysregulation (OD) in children in this study. This research aims to detect SAS early, identify people with pre-SAS who are likely to become SAS in the near future, and identify OD. We analyze and identify these diseases through statistics and a multivariate analysis and create a dedicated analysis system for them. Our research and system development will allow specialists to make informed diagnoses, reproduce empirical rules, improve work efficiency, and improve patients' health awareness. This research has only looks at two diseases, but these methods can be expected to be applied to other diseases. In current optical wireless communications (OWC) oriented research works, the various multiple input multiple output (MIMO) techniques are introduced and utilized to enhance the coverage performance. Objectively, this Lambertian light beam based MIMO research paradigm neglects the light beam diversity and the potential performance gains. In this work, the distinct non-Lambertian light beams of commercially available light emitting diodes (LEDs) were adopted to configure MIMO OWC links. Specifically, the homogenous and heterogeneous non-Lambertian MIMO configurations were constituted in typical indoor scenarios. Moreover, applying the repetition coding (RC) MIMO algorithm with low complexity, a spatial coverage performance comparison was made between the several above mentioned non-Lambertian configurations and the well-discussed Lambertian MIMO configuration. Numerical results illustrate that the homogeneous NSPW light beam configuration could provide a more than 30 dB average signal to noise ratio (SNR), while the achievable average SNR of the heterogeneous light beam configuration was up to 28.77 dB. On the other side, the counterpart of the Lambertian configuration achieved just about 27.00 dB. Objectively, this work paves the fundamental and essential way for the further design and optimization of MIMO OWC in this novel light beam dimension.Florescence information monitoring is essential for strengthening orchard management activities, such as flower thinning, fruit protection, and pest control. A lightweight object recognition model using cascade fusion YOLOv4-CF is proposed, which recognizes multi-type objects in their natural environments, such as citrus buds, citrus flowers, and gray mold. The proposed model has an excellent representation capability with an improved cascade fusion network and a multi-scale feature fusion block. Moreover, separable deep convolution blocks were employed to enhance object feature information and reduce model computation. Further, channel shuffling was used to address missing recognition in the dense distribution of object groups. Finally, an embedded sensing system for recognizing citrus flowers was designed by quantitatively applying the proposed YOLOv4-CF model to an FPGA platform. The mAP@.5 of citrus buds, citrus flowers, and gray mold obtained on the server using the proposed YOLOv4-CF model was 95.03%, and the model size of YOLOv4-CF + FPGA was 5.96 MB, which was 74.57% less than the YOLOv4-CF model. The FPGA side had a frame rate of 30 FPS; thus, the embedded sensing system could meet the demands of florescence information in real-time monitoring.Respiratory monitoring is a fundamental method to understand the physiological and psychological relationships between respiration and the human body. In this review, we overview recent developments on ultrafast humidity sensors with functional nanomaterials for monitoring human respiration. Key advances in design and materials have resulted in humidity sensors with response and recovery times reaching 8 ms. In addition, these sensors are particularly beneficial for respiratory monitoring by being portable and noninvasive. We systematically classify the reported sensors according to four types of output signals impedance, light, frequency, and voltage. Design strategies for preparing ultrafast humidity sensors using nanomaterials are discussed with regard to physical parameters such as the nanomaterial film thickness, porosity, and hydrophilicity. We also summarize other applications that require ultrafast humidity sensors for physiological studies. This review provides key guidelines and directions for preparing and applying such sensors in practical applications.Processes for evaluating software architecture (SA) help to investigate problems and potential risks in SA. It is derived from many studies that proposed a plethora of systematic SA evaluation methods, while industrial practitioners currently refrain from applying them since they are heavyweight. Nowadays, heterogeneous software architectures are organized based on the new infrastructure. Hardware and associated software allow different systems, such as embedded, sensor-based, modern AI, and cloud-based systems, to cooperate efficiently. It brings more complexities to SA evaluation. Alternatively, lightweight architectural evaluation methods have been proposed to satisfy the practitioner's concerns, but practitioners still do not adopt these methods. This study employs a systematic literature review with a text analysis of SA's definitions to propose a comparison framework for SA. It identifies lightweight features and factors to improve the architectural evaluation methods among industrial practitioners. The features are determined based on the practitioner's concerns by analyzing the architecture's definitions from stakeholders and reviewing architectural evaluation methods. The lightweight factors are acquired by studying the five most commonly used lightweight methods and the Architecture-based Tradeoff Analysis Method (ATAM), the most well-known heavyweight method. Subsequently, the research addresses these features and factors. For people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), using technological tools, such as augmented reality (AR) and serious games remain a new and unexplored option. To attract people with ASD who have communicative, social, emotional and attention deficit disorders to behavioral treatments, an attractive environment is needed that ensures continuity during treatment. The aim of the current work is to efficiently examine systematic reviews and relevant primary studies on ASD solutions from 2015 to 2020, particularly those using the traditional Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), the application of augmented reality and those that propose serious games, thereby providing an overview of existing evidence and to identify strategies for future research. Five databases were searched for keywords that may be included within the broad Autism Spectrum Disorder 'ASD' umbrella term, alongside 'augmented reality', 'serious games' and 'PECS'. We screened 1799 titles and abstracts, read, and retained 12 reviews and 43 studies. The studies scrutinized in our systematic review were examined to answer four primary and four sub-research questions, which we formulated to better understand general trends in the use of approaches for attracting people with ASD to behavioral therapies. Additionally, our systematic review also presents ongoing issues in this area of research and suggests promising future research directions. Our review is useful to researchers in this field as it facilitates the comparison of existing studies with work currently being conducted, based on the availability of a wide range of studies in three different areas (AR, SG and PECS).Inspired by the Ormia Ochracea hearing mechanism, a new direction of arrival estimation using multiple antenna arrays has been considered in spatially colored noise fields. This parasitoid insect can locate s cricket's position accurately using the small distance between its ears, far beyond the standard array with the same aperture. This phenomenon can be understood as a mechanical coupled structure existing between the Ormia ears. The amplitude and phase differences between the received signals are amplified by the mechanical coupling, which is functionally equivalent to a longer baseline. In this paper, we regard this coupled structure as a multi-input multi-output filter, where coupling exists between each pair of array elements. Then, an iterative direction-finding algorithm based on fourth-order cumulants with fully coupled array is presented. In this manner, the orientation of the mainlobe can direct at the incident angle. Hence, the direction-finding accuracy can be improved in all possible incident angles.
