Participants with one or more solid CP-NCNs between 3.0 mm and 30.0 mm in average diameter were included. For each CP-NCN, the size, location, shape (lentiform, oval, or semicircular [LOS]; triangular; polygonal; round; or irregular), margin (smooth or nonsmooth), and attachment to the costal pleura (broad or narrow) were documented. However, few studies have used MRI findings to predict patients' long-term prognosis. Purpose To investigate the relationship between Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI findings in the liver parenchyma peripheral to CRLM and both pathologic vessel invasion and long-term prognosis. Materials and Methods This retrospective study included patients who underwent Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI before curative surgery for CRLM, without neoadjuvant chemotherapy, between July 2008 and June 2015. Early enhancement, reduced Gd-EOB-DTPA uptake, and bile duct dilatation peripheral to the CRLM at MRI were evaluated by three abdominal radiologists. All tumor specimens were reevaluated for the presence or absence of portal vein, hepatic vein, and bile duct invasion. Purpose To evaluate the effect of DBT slab thickness and overlap on reader performance and interpretation time in the absence of 1-mm slices. Materials and Methods In this retrospective HIPAA-compliant multireader study of DBT examinations performed between August 2013 and July 2017, four fellowship-trained breast imaging radiologists blinded to final histologic findings interpreted DBT examinations by using a standard protocol (10-mm slabs with 5-mm overlap, 1-mm slices, synthetic 2D mammogram) and an experimental protocol (6-mm slabs with 3-mm overlap, synthetic 2D mammogram) with a crossover design. Among the 122 DBT examinations, 74 mammographic findings had final histologic findings, including 31 masses (26 malignant), 20 groups of calcifications (12 malignant), 18 architectural distortions (15 malignant), and five asymmem slices, had similar diagnostic performance compared with the standard protocol and led to a reduced interpretation time for three of four readers. © RSNA, 2020 See also the editorial by Chang in this issue.Recent popular areas of research in psychology suggest that behavioral interventions can have profound effects on our cognitive abilities. In particular, the study of brain training, video gaming, mindset, and stereotype threat all include claims that low-cost, noninvasive manipulations of the environment can greatly affect individual performance. Here, I provide a quantitative reappraisal of this literature, focusing on recent meta-analytic findings. Specifically, I show that effect-size distributions in the four aforementioned areas are best modeled by multiple rather than single latent distributions, suggesting important discrepancies in the effect sizes reported. I further demonstrate that these multimodal characteristics are not typical within the broader field of psychology, using 107 meta-analyses published in three top-tier journals as a comparison. The effect-size distributions observed in cognitive-intervention research therefore appear to be uncommon, and their characteristics are largely unexplained by current theoretical frameworks of cognitive improvement. Before the source of these discrepancies is better understood, the current study calls for constructive skepticism in evaluating claims of cognitive improvement after behavioral interventions and for caution when this line of research influences large-scale policies.Inspired by the synergistic effect of BTSA1 (a Bax activator) and SAHA (a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor) in HeLa cell growth suppression, a series of novel HDAC-Bax multiple ligands were designed rationally. Compound 23, which possesses similar HDAC inhibitory activity relative to SAHA and Bax affinity comparable to BTSA1, exhibits a superior growth suppression against HeLa cells, and its antiproliferative activities are 15-fold and 3-fold higher than BTSA1 and SAHA, respectively. #link# The better antiproliferative activity and lower cytotoxicity of compound 23 indicated that our HDAC-Bax multiple ligand design strategy achieved success. To our knowledge, we first report HDAC-Bax multiple ligands and demonstrate a new paradigm for the treatment of solid tumors by enhancing Bax-dependent apoptosis.In this paper, the hyperkagome lattice of Gd spins in a garnet compound, Gd3CrGa4O12, is studied using bulk measurements and density functional computations, and the observation of large magnetocaloric effect corresponding to an entropy change, ΔS m = 45 J kg-1K-1 (≈ 45 J mol-1K-1) at 2 K, 8 T is reported. Though the compound defies long-range magnetic order down to 0.4 K, a broad feature below 10 K is observed in the specific heat with two low temperature anomalies at T* ≈ 0.7 K and T S ≈ 2.45 K. The anomaly at T* is reminiscent of one in Gd3Ga5O12, where it is related to the development of a complex magnetic phase, whereas the T S -peak is accounted for by a multilevel Schottky-like model. The spin-lattice relaxation times studied by nuclear magnetic resonance experiments show that the relaxation is dominated by the magnetic fluctuations in Cr which has a longer relaxation time compared to that of the garnet, Lu3CrGa4O12 containing a nonmagnetic rare earth. Our first-principles density functional theory calculations agree well with the experimental results and support short-range magnetic order in the Gd-sublattice and antiferromagnetism in the Cr-sublattice.
