We have applied this expanded framework within the context of Indigenous Peoples in Canada as a way of illustrating specific concepts and focusing our argument; however, this framework is relevant to other groups experiencing marginalizing conditions and inequitable access to healthcare, and thus is applicable to many areas of nursing practice.
To evaluate the process of daily going outside in a nursing home garden and explore the effect of garden use on quality of life and neuropsychiatric symptoms in persons with dementia.
A feasibility study with quantitative and qualitative approaches.
Twenty residents with a diagnosis of moderate-to-severe dementia participated. The intervention consisted of at least 30min of garden use, whereby any activity outside is possible as long as it is person-centred and fitting within usual daily nursing home practice. Interviews were held with caregivers, and questionnaires were sent to other disciplines involved. Quality of life (QUALIDEM) and neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPI-NH) were collected at baseline, intervention and postintervention.

As a result, an increased incidence and variety of neoplasia is expected. This work characterizes diverse neoplasms arising within a managed population of Atlantic bumper fish acquired via repeated collections from the Charleston Harbor region. A total of 76 neoplasms were evaluated histologically from 41 of 45 fish that died or were killed over a 46-month period, including cutaneous hemangiomas and hemangiosarcomas, lepidocytomas and lepidosarcomas, fibromas, vertebral body or cutaneous osteomas, disseminated lymphomas, testicular leiomyomas, cutaneous or branchial fibrosarcomas, myxomas, fibroblastic lepidosarcoma, teratoid medulloepithelioma, ganglioglioma, malignant nerve sheath tumour, cardiac rhabdomyoma, cutaneous rhabdomyosarcoma, soft tissue sarcoma and renal adenoma. Perioral and cutaneous lesions of vascular and scale origin were observed most frequently. Other, often malignant, neoplasms arose within these benign lesions, resulting in extensive local tissue invasion. However, excluding disseminated lymphomas, metastasis was only detected in one case of hemangiosarcoma. These findings suggest early surgical intervention may limit tissue destruction and loss of display quality. This report details a variety of common and rare neoplasms in fish, as well as the first characterizations of neoplasia in Atlantic bumper and ganglioglioma in fish.
A floating system is a suitable low-cost hydroponic method for growing baby leaf vegetables. Among other, an important characteristic of the system is the use of large volume of nutrient solution which is characterized by high heat capacity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different root-zone temperatures on baby leaves of lettuce and rocket plants grown in a floating system under mild (spring) or extreme environmental conditions (summer and winter).
Root-zone temperature was recorded in two tanks, one powered by a photovoltaic system and one where root-zone temperature was not controlled - this was used as a control tank. Photosynthetic parameters, yield, nutritional quality, and mineral composition were determined. In both baby leaf vegetables, during extreme weather conditions, yield was higher in the tanks with controlled root-zone temperature conditions than the control (+18.9% for rocket, and + 31.4% for baby lettuce), while quality parameters and chemical composition were not significantly affected. Stomatal conductance and net photosynthesis values were positively affected only during summer. On the other hand, control of root-zone temperature under mild weather conditions had no significant effect on baby lettuce and rocket.

Measured thermodynamic parameters, the ferric heme superoxide [(PIm )FeIII -(O2⋅- )] (PIm -S) reduction potential (E°') and the PIm -HP pKa value, lead to the finding of the OO-H bond-dissociation free energy (BDFE) of PIm -HP as 69.5 kcal mol-1 using a thermodynamic square scheme and Bordwell relationship. The results are validated by the observed oxidizing ability of PIm -S via hydrogen-atom transfer (HAT) compared to that of the F8 superoxide complex, [(F8 )FeIII -(O2.- )] (S) (F8 =tetrakis(2,6-difluorophenyl)porphyrinate, without an internally appended axial base imidazolyl), as determined from reactivity comparison of superoxide complexes PIm -S and S with the hydroxylamine (O-H) substrates TEMPO-H and ABNO-H.
