Jared Wilder

Jared Wilder starred in many of Hollywood's most off-the-wall comedies and was often credited with a "wow" factor. He also wrote some of his most successful films and was known for being a "real" director.

He wasn't a prolific filmmaker, but there were always plenty of films to keep him busy, and even then, he never made a clunker that would get lost in the shuffle.





The late director/actor/writer died of Alzheimer's disease at age 93 in September 2016. He left behind a legacy that will leave audiences in mourning, and with much to ponder over his work.

Some of his best comedies include:

'Some Like it Hot' (59)While a bit long, this is probably Wilder's greatest comedy and one of the most widely praised in cinema history. It is a riotous romp and a testament to Wilder's fearlessness as a director.

'The Seven Year Itch' (1955)

A more toned down version of the stage play, Wilder and Monroe reunite for a film that is full of laughs but also a great example of how he was willing to re-work material in his own mind. gps tracker for people It's a fun romp with some good moments and Monroe is in great form.

'Irma La Douce' (63).

While not as good as Wilder’s classic ‘The Apartment’, this reteaming of Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine is still an enjoyable romantic comedy. It combines a self-righteous gendarme and a Parisian prostitute with some nice humour.
