Phyllodes tumors (PTs) are rare but complex fibroepithelial lesions of the breast. The present report describes an unusual case of a giant malignant PT with a rich blood supply treated with dominant blood supply internal thoracic artery interventional embolization before surgery. A 41-year-old woman without underlying systemic disease presented with a tumor >20 cm in diameter growing rapidly in the left breast. Radiological results indicated a giant circular tumor with a clear boundary occupying the whole breast, possible invasion of the major pectoralis muscle and several enlarged lymph nodes in the left axillary region. Computed tomography angiography showed a large mass with a rich and powerful blood vessel supply and preoperative interventional embolization was performed to block the internal thoracic artery. Three days after artery embolization, mastectomy and grade I axillary lymph node dissection were performed. The giant tumor measured 17x16x11 cm. The surgery successfully treated the pain and tumor necrosis and the patient received chemotherapy and local radiotherapy. No recurrence was found at the 14-month follow-up.Cervical cancer, one of the high-incidence female malignant tumors, has predominated in recent years. Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) is the main cause of cervical cancer. Studies have shown that infection with certain sexually transmitted disease (STD) pathogens increases the risk of persistent infection with HR-HPV and is a high-risk factor for cervical cancer. In the present study, cervical specimens were collected for Thinprep cytology test detection, while DNA of cervical cells was extracted for HPV genotyping and detection of 10 STD pathogens, including Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), Ureaplasma urealyticum, Ureaplasma urealyticum parvum (Uup)1, Uup3, Uup6, Uup14, Mycoplasma hominis (Mh), Mycoplasma genitalium (Mg) and herpes simplex virus II. Significant differences were observed between CT, Mh and Mg infections and HR-HPV infection (P1; P less then 0.05). In the comparison of Uup3, Uup6 and Mg infections between the cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) group and the control group, statistically significant differences were observed (P less then 0.05). In conclusion, the incidences of CT, Mh and Mg infections were similar with HR-HPV infection. CT, Uup6, Mh and Mg infections were risk factors for HR-HPV infection. Finally, Uup3, Uup6 and Mg were risk factors of CIN.Angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma (AFH) is a rare soft tissue tumor that has only been reported in the central nervous system in case reports. After surgery, patients exhibit tumor recurrence. Pathological diagnosis of AHF remains difficult, especially in sites other than skin. AFH can harbor characteristic translocations implying that the Ewing sarcoma breakpoint region 1 gene (EWSR1) fuses with the transcription factor cyclic AMP response element binding (CREB) family genes. Doxorubicin is a chemotherapy that has previously been used successfully in two metastatic soft tissue AFH cases but never in intracranial AFH. The present report describes a case of an adult with a progressive classical intracranial non-myxoid AFH with ESWR1-CREB1 transcript fusion 4 years after surgery. The patient was treated with doxorubicin as a single agent chemotherapy. This treatment resulted in a prolonged stable disease 15 months after treatment discontinuation. This is the first reported case of a treatment with doxorubicin in an adult with progressive intracranial AFH with ESWR1-CREB1 transcript fusion which was sustained after treatment discontinuation.Treatment strategies for distant organ metastasis have changed markedly since the concept of oligometastasis was introduced. The perception that distant organ metastasis is a systemic disease and not eligible for local therapy is now a thing of the past. Therefore, the present report details a case of postoperative solitary liver metastasis from esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), which achieved a clinical complete response to chemotherapy with cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) followed by stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). VO-Ohpic cost A 76-year-old male patient underwent esophagectomy for lower thoracic ESCC. At 7 months after surgery, abdominal CT revealed a solitary hypovascular mass, 28 mm in size, in segment 7 of the liver. After three courses of chemotherapy with cisplatin and 5-FU, abdominal CT revealed that the liver mass had shrunk to 7 mm in size. SBRT was then administered with a 6 MV X-ray beam generated by a linear accelerator. A total dose of 50 Gy was given in 5 fractions of 10 Gy to the liver mass. At 1 month after SBRT, abdominal CT revealed that the liver mass had disappeared. The patient received no further adjuvant chemotherapy and had no recurrence at 18 months after diagnosis of liver metastasis and 13 months after SBRT.Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common cause of low back pain (LBP) and/or radicular pain (RP). Over the years, different therapies have been proposed to treat symptomatic LDH, including different minimally invasive techniques and open surgical methods. Recently, percutaneous intradiscal injection of radiopaque gelified ethanol (RGE) DiscoGel® has emerged as an effective therapeutic option in patients with LDH. Nevertheless, only few studies addressed the reliability of this technique. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this procedure. We analysed surgical and outcome data of patients with small or medium LDH treated by DiscoGel between 2012 to 2015. Outcome variables included pain relief, the limitation on physical activity and severity of depression status. Overall, complication rate was defined as the occurrence of any perioperative adverse events. A total of 94 consecutive patients were enrolled in the study. Pain relief was achieved in 90.6% and 88.8% of patients at 1- and 4-year follow-up, respectively. At the last follow-up, at least a satisfactory result was achieved in 92.5% of patients. Similar results were obtained in the limitation on physical activity. Depression status did not significantly change after treatment. There was no mortality, and no patients experienced permanent sequelae. In well-selected patients, DiscoGel has proved effective in maintaining excellent functional results in terms of pain relief and limitation on physical activity while minimizing the overall rate of complications related to these kinds of surgical procedures.
