prediction and importance of severe postoperative complications after ovarian cancer surgery is a strong issue in patient selection and evaluation. Pre- and early peroperative predictors of severe 30-days postoperative complications (Clavien-Dindo class ≥3) after surgery for primary ovarian cancer are not fully established, neither their impact on patients' survival.

A prospective observational study included 256 patients with primary ovarian cancer FIGO stages IIB-IV, operated during 2009-2018 in a primary or interval debulking surgery setting. Patient variables were analysed in relation to severe postoperative complications (Clavien-Dindo class ≥3) and overall survival.

High-grade postoperative complications occurred in 24.2% patients. Class 3a complications were observed in 12.5% cases. High-grade complications class ≥3 were observed in 31.6% after primary debulking surgery compared to 12.2% after interval debulking surgery (p = 0.0004). Peritoneal cancer index ≥21 and preoperative albumin concentration ≤33g/L were independent predictors of high-grade complications. Peritoneal cancer index correlated with the surgical complexity score and completeness of cytoreduction. Increased peritoneal cancer index was a negative predictor of overall survival, but high-grade complications did not influence survival negatively.

We presume that the feedback controller acquires the switching signals and systems state information only at event-triggered sampling instants. An event triggering strategy is presented for both control and switching. Meanwhile, sufficient condition is obtained to stabilize the event-triggered switched linear systems. In addition, we prove that the Zeno behavior can be excluded through the proposed event triggering strategy. Finally, the speed regulation of a turbofan engine model shows that the derived technique is practicable.

Preliminary results using a novel rapid-sequence MRI to diagnose ipsilateral femoral neck fractures in patients sustaining high-energy femoral shaft fractures have been favorable compared to radiographic and CT imaging alone. To evaluate and optimize this new institutional imaging protocol further, we reviewed our results one year after implementation.

Rapid-sequence MRI was added to the imaging evaluation of patients with high-energy femoral shaft fractures without femoral neck fractures identified on radiographs or CT imaging. Data was retrospectively reviewed from a consecutive series of patients who met inclusion criteria.

Several surgical techniques of osteosynthesis have been described for treatment of proximal humeral fractures. There is evidence that the quality of reduction improves the clinical outcome and decreases the number of complications. Reduction of the medial calcar is tricky when standard manoeuvres are performed. We have therefore augmented our standard surgical technique with a low-profile medial hinge plate which aims at better reconstructing the medial metaphysis without extensile soft tissue dissection in combination with proximal humerus locked plating.

To report the clinical outcomes and preliminary experiences of unilateral lumbopelvic fixation for patients with AO/OTA Type C1 and C2 pelvic fractures.

Between May 2014 and Dec 2017, 23 consecutive patients with AO/OTA Type C1 and C2 pelvic factures were treated by unilateral lumbopelvic fixation. Estimated blood loss, operation duration, reduction quality, functional outcomes using Majeed scores and complications were evaluated. Subgroup analysis was used to assess the influence of unilateral lumbopelvic fixation on different type of pelvic fractures.

Fifteen patients with Type C1 pelvic fractures and eight patients with Type C2 fractures underwent unilateral lumbopelvic fixation respectively. The mean follow-up time till May 2019 was 34.3±9.9 months (range 17-60 months). Mean estimated blood loss was 473ml and mean operation duration was 156min during unilateral lumbopelvic fixation. The mean vertical displacement of pelvis decreased from 10.1±4.9mm to 3.1±1.9mm after unilateral lumbopelvic fixation.
