Replacement UPVC Door Handles

If you're replacing the handles or adding a little more security, you can find the right handle for your door. These upvc handles are easy to fit and comply with the required 92mm centres for multipoint locks.

The backplate's fixing centre as well as the lever/keyhole dimensions are the most important measurements. Compare these measurements to your existing measurements prior to making a purchase.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad door handles consist of an elongated lever handle on one side and a paddle shaped handle on the other. These are designed to be used with key wind locks, however, they can also be fitted to split spindle multipoint door locks (though you'll require a separate dual spindle lock case).

Once you have selected the correct handle for the doors the finishes will be displayed in the drop-down list. Not all styles of handle are available in every finish though and you should always look over the sizes and technical drawings for the specific product you are looking to ensure that you can get the correct size and fitting.

It is important that when choosing a new set upvc lever pad handles, they are in line with the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the center of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because they need to be aligned in order so that the doors remain locked, regardless of whether you are viewing them from the inside or from the outside. The handles we sell are designed to work with the majority of standard cylinder locks, however it is advisable to double-check before purchasing.

You'll need to remove your existing handles and dismantle the lock case if you are upgrading to dual spindle handle levers as this will require a split inline cylinder. These are available separately, and we provide an entire technical diagram to look at in the images for each product.

After you have removed the screws that are holding the door handle you have, it is recommended to loosen them and examine the mechanism to determine what condition it is in. If the screws aren't loose enough it is possible to loosen them even more. Then, you can remove the spindle from the door handle and replace it with your new Upvc handle. It is essential to ensure that the handle is in the right position before fixing it. You can do this by placing your finger between the frame and the handle to make sure that it is level.

Lever/Lever

Lever door handles function as an a multi-point lock using an Euro Cylinder and can be found on a majority of upvc double doors, aluminium doors, and some wooden doors. They feature a lever inside and a paddle on the outside and are usually supplied in two different types. Sprung - these have a spring cassette fitted inside the backplate to bring the handle lever into the horizontal position. Non-sprung: They do not have a mechanism to spring the handle lever to a horizontal position.

To repair a sagging door handle lever you'll need to locate the hole or pin that is the detent access point. It's typically small, protruding ring, or rectangle, located on the handle base plate. Once you've located it, you can loosen the set screw with a screwdriver and remove it to release the lever and return it to its horizontal position.

When the handle is in a horizontal orientation, you can put the screws back in place and tighten them to make sure the handle remains secured to the base plate. You should also consider applying a threadlocking adhesive to the screw threads to increase the grip and stop them from loosening over time.

There are many reasons that door handles for levers drop. The most common cause is that the fixings aren't tight and the lever bearing to pull up against the door. It could also be due to the fact that the levers aren't being operated at a straight angle and this is compressing the latch mechanism and preventing it from fully springing back into action.

Another common cause is that the lever that is sprung is not operating correctly and this is usually due to the spring not being in the correct position within the backplate. To check whether the handle is back to horizontal, simply operate it.

If your door handles are loose it is important to identify the problem quickly, as this could lead to excessive wear on the screws, and even to the handle falling off the base plate. It is recommended to tighten all screws that are loose on a regular basis, as this will help to stop them from loosening.
