In this review, we give a general overview of plant recognition and defence of fungal parasites tracing back to the early 20th century with a special focus on Triticeae and on the progress that was made in the last 30 years.The present longitudinal study investigated the effects of early childhood socioeconomic status on language-related resting-state functional connectivity and reading outcome in adolescence. Seventy-nine children participated in this study. Socioeconomic status was measured via parent questionnaire measuring parental education and family income at 1 month. At age 14, resting-state fMRI data and reading-related behavioral data of the children were collected. Resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) analysis was performed based on four regions of interest, including the left inferior frontal gyrus (L.IFG), left anterior superior temporal gyrus (L.aSTG), left posterior superior temporal gyrus (L.pSTG) and right anterior superior temporal gyrus (R.aSTG). Significant associations were found between parental education and the language-related RSFC, including the RSFC of L.IFG-L.aSTG and the RSFC of L.aSTG-L.pSTG, while no association was found between family income and language-related RSFC. Furthermore, the parental education-associated functional connectivity patterns (i.e., L.IFG-L.aSTG and L.aSTG-L.pSTG) were found to be positively correlated with children's reading skills (word list reading and sentence reading fluency). Finally, path analyses indicated that the intrinsic brain connectivity between L.aSTG and L.pSTG influenced the relationship between parental education and children's reading outcomes.

Deficits in the ability to process contextual changes have been proposed to be crucial for emotion dysregulation. A recent study found evidence for the role of contextual changes in exacerbating attention switching towards valence-specific goals using a novel attention flexibility paradigm. Despite the task indicating good reliability, the role of rule-based learning has not been clarified in this paradigm. Therefore, we examined whether the novel attention flexibility task is an index of context-based attention switching or does it reflect impact of rule-based learning on attention.

We employed a neutral version of the attention flexibility task. A sample of dysphoric and non-dysphoric participants were introduced to neutral contexts which required them to shift between neutral categories of pictures depending upon the cueing shape.

There was an existence of a switch cost for shifting between different rules owing to the features of the rules. Further, non-dysphorics were faster at set-shifting between different rules as compared to dysphoric individuals. However, unlike in the affective version of the attention flexibility task, we found no significant differences between dysphoric and non-dysphoric individuals in attention switching patterns owing to switching between different rules.

Although the current study aimed to replicate the design of the previous study, a depressed patient sample must be employed to further clarify the different aspects of the attention flexibility paradigm.

Patients with anaplastic lymphoma kinase-rearranged (ALK+) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with crizotinib inevitably relapse, with brain as common site of progression.

ASCEND-6, a phase 1/2, single-arm study, included adult Chinese patients with stage IIIB or IV ALK+ NSCLC pretreated with crizotinib as the last therapy (irrespective of prior chemotherapies [≤2]). Because adapting and non-adapting neurons-the principal pyramidal types in layer 5 (L5)-differ in intrinsic properties and inhibitory inputs, we determined age-dependent changes according to neuron type. We found an age-dependent increase in intrinsic excitability in adapting neurons, caused by a decrease in action potential threshold. Surprisingly, in non-adapting neurons we found both an increase in excitability caused by increased input resistance, and a decrease in synaptic inhibition.
