05). There was a significant difference (P≤0.05) in sperm abnormality of P0; P1 with P2; P3; P4. The abnormality between P0; P1 and P2; P3 showed no significant difference (P≥0.05), while P2; P3 showed a significant difference with P4 (P≤0.05). The best result in sperm quality was supplementation with 1.5mM α-tocopherol. Ca

intracellular intensity 142.76± 21.8 au (P0) and 176.06±61.43 au (P3).

It was concluded that 1.5mM α-tocopherol is the best dose to improve sperm quality by regulating intracellular Ca

intensity on Simmental bull cattle.

Several traditional medicines have been developed among communities as part of the efforts to improve thrombocytopenia in patients with Dengue virus infection (DVI). Among those efforts is the administration of Monascus jmbA rice (MJR), which is rice fermented with

. The administration of MJR is believed to increase the platelet count in patients with DVI.

The objective of this study is to elucidate the mechanism of the effects of MJR on increased levels of platelets in DVI serotype 3 through changes in IL-3, IL-6, IL-11 and TNF-α.

It was a true experimental laboratory study using the randomized posttest only control group design. The study compared between groups of wistar rats were being treated only with group IVD wistar rats who experienced treatment followed by administration of MJR as well as groups of wistar rats without any treatment as a control group.

The increase in platelet count in the group treated with DVI + MJR was higher than that treated with only DVI and the difference was a significant (P<0.05). Increased levels of TNF-α in the group treated with DVI + MJR were lower than that treated with only DVI and the difference was significant (P<0.05). The significant levels of the causal relationship of TNF-α with IL-6, TNF-α with IL-11 and IL- 6 with platelets were 0.044 (P<0.05), 0.029 (P<0.05) and 0.041 (P<0.05), respectively.

MJR is capable of increasing platelet count through the role of TNF- α and IL-6 in Wistar rats infected with DVI serotype 3.

The utilization of molecular diagnostic has been setting over the country, however there are still a lot of remote areas that only depend on microscopic smear. Bleach might be used to increase the value of microscopy diagnostic. The study aimed to evaluate the added value of 1% bleach to increase the positivity rate of TB compared to conventional stain. This study was conducted on 70 subjects who were suspected as TB from various primary care centers in West Java and Banten, Indonesia. The sputum was 2-3 mL, and divided into two parts, both of them were stained using Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN), however the first was only stained and the second added 1% bleach. Bleach was added in same volume with sputum and incubated for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the sputum was stained with ZN. The positivity rate for ZN only was 39 (55.7%) compared to 1% bleach was 63 (90%), and significantly different (P=0.000) using Mann-Whitney U test. Bleach can be used as an alternative agent to improve the TB smear in setting that only depends on microscopy diagnostic.

Definition of Congenital Ruben Syndrome (CRS) a disease caused by rubella virus infection. Routine surveillance of CRS is part of a government program in documenting the incidence of CRS so that infants with CRS are diagnosed promptly and receive appropriate care.

This study aims to report the profile of CRS patients 2015 in Audiology Outpatient General Hospital Dr. Soetomo Surabaya.

A descriptive study from CRS surveillance data for the period from January 1

until December 31

, 2015. Data was from Infants who came to the Audiology Outpatient General Hospital Dr. Soetomo Surabaya and did hearing and serological examination.

A total of 65 infants were involved in surveillance. The highest number of patients was the age group 1- <3 years (21 patients, 31.2%). A total of 36 patients (55.4%) were male, 45 babies (69.2%) were suspected of suffering from CRS with 2 infants (3.1%) classified as a laboratory-confirmed CRS. Hearing abnormalities were found in 36 infants (55.4%). Bilateral hearing loss was found in 23 infants (35.4%) and unilateral in 13 infants (20%).

This study shows that hearing impairment is the most common clinical symptom with most bilateral hearing loss. The supervision still needs to be continued to capture more CRS cases in the community and effective supervision to detect hearing impairment early.

This study examined the antimycobacterial action of ursolic acid and its regulation in macrophages during infection. Temsirolimus Colonyforming units of the bacteria were determined in the cell lysate of macrophages and in the supernatant. The effect of ursolic acid on macrophages during infection was determined by analyzing the phosphorylation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway and the concentrations of tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, interleukin-6, and nitrite. The colony-forming units analysis demonstrated that ursolic acid reduced the presence of Mycobacterium avium both intracellularly (in macrophages) and extracellularly. It decreased the levels of tumor necrosis factor- α and interleukin-6 but increased the concentrations of interleukin-1β and nitrite during infection. It also inhibited the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 but phosphorylated the C-Jun N-terminal kinase signaling pathway. The antimycobacterial effect of ursolic acid correlated with its ability to regulate the activation of macrophages. This dual ability made the ursolic acid-related elimination of the mycobacteria more effective.
