LSNs were encouraged to meet virtually to create an informal network, giving an opportunity to discuss all aspects of primary care as a group. Data were collected prior to, during and at the end of the pilot period using a mixed-methods approach of questionnaires with Likert scales and focus groups.Results Quantitative and qualitative data analysis demonstrated that LSNs supported the workforce through increased knowledge, communication, networking, resilience and well-being. Each LSN should have a variety of career stages represented with initial meetings face-to-face, but virtual meetings can then be utilised to continue the group relationship.Conclusion LSNs can benefit all stages of a GP career, with further implementation across a larger geographical area considered and evaluated as an adjunct to formal mentoring and support already available.

The flocs produced by SACC were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy FTIR and X-ray photo electron spectroscopy. The thermodynamic and kinetic behaviours of phosphorus removal by iron sol adsorption were also studied in detail. In a self-made SACC reactor equipped with five sets of parallel iron electrodes spacing 10 mm, the removal rate of TP reached 90.9% for a pH 7.0 wastewater with 5 mg dm-3 TP (κ = 800 μS cm-1) after being treated for 60 min by applying 2.12 mA cm-2 sinusoidal alternating current. Compared with direct current coagulation (DCC), SACC exhibits a higher removal efficiency of phosphorus due to the stronger adsorption of the produced flocs. It was found that the adsorption in the SACC process follows pseudo-second-order kinetic with the involvement of the intra-particle model. In this study, by monitoring intracellular calcium, particularly by tracking vacuolar calcium dynamics in living cells through a novel procedure using modified aequorin, we found that calcineurin dysfunction systematically caused abnormal intracellular calcium homeostasis in cytosol, mitochondria, and vacuole, leading to drastic autophagy, global organelle fragmentation accompanied with the increased expression of cell death-related enzymes, and cell death upon extracellular calcium stimuli. Notably, all detectable defective phenotypes seen with calcineurin mutants can be significantly suppressed by alleviating a cytosolic calcium overload or increasing vacuolar calcium storage capacity, suggesting toxicity of exogenous calcium to calcineurin mutants is tightly associated with abnormal cytosolic calcium accumulation and vacuolar calcium storage capacity deficiency. The brain tumor glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly invasive and metabolically plastic tumor with an inevitable recurrence. The neuronal glucose transporter 3 (GLUT3) was previously reported to correlate with poor glioma patient survival and be upregulated in GBM cells to promote therapeutic resistance and survival under restricted glucose conditions. It has been suggested that the increased glucose uptake mediated by GLUT3 elevation promotes survival of circulating tumor cells to facilitate metastasis. Here we suggest a more direct role for GLUT3 in promoting invasion that is not dependent upon changes in cell survival or metabolism. Analysis of glioma datasets demonstrated that GLUT3, but not GLUT1, expression was elevated in invasive disease. In human xenograft derived GBM cells, GLUT3, but not GLUT1, elevation significantly increased invasion in transwell assays, but not growth or migration. Further, there were no changes in glycolytic metabolism that correlated with invasive phenotypes. We identified the GLUT3 C-terminus as mediating invasion substituting the C-terminus of GLUT1 for that of GLUT3 reduced invasion. RNA-seq analysis indicated changes in extracellular matrix organization in GLUT3 overexpressing cells, including upregulation of osteopontin. Together, our data suggest a role for GLUT3 in increasing tumor cell invasion that is not recapitulated by GLUT1, is separate from its role in metabolism and survival as a glucose transporter, and is likely broadly applicable since GLUT3 expression correlates with metastasis in many solid tumors.
