Volvo drivers enjoy their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle as well as start the motor and even locate it via an app on their smartphone.

Put the key fob face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button to let it go. Put a coin between the fob cover and the fob, and carefully pull it up.

Locking the Doors

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button, hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing up. Locate the black button that is near the edge of the key fob's body, and gently press it to open a cover that conceals the manual key blade. This cover can be flipped counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.

The Engine is Ready to Start

Use a fingernail to remove the cover on the back of the key fob. Under the cover on a diagonal close to the body's edge you should find an unidentified button. Slide it downwards and to the right. To unlock the windows do this, press and hold down the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof if you have one. Then, when you're done with your car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button a second time for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob for activating your car's panic alarm. It will create an ominous sound that will attract attention and deter thieves. It also helps you return to your home in a safe manner when you've been out all night. This feature comes in handy if you are living in a secluded area or want to secure your family members while they are away.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide an array of benefits over a conventional mechanical car key. They're not always perfect, and the batteries can be dead. You can try to program your key fob at home in case you are in a rush or don't have the time to visit the store.

Find a clean surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and any other keys. Find the small black button in the lower left corner of the key fob and move it to the right. The cover should fall off and fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade underneath.

You can open all the doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you can close the windows and sunroof when they're fitted. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't then the owner's manual must include a reset method.
