Additional PET, but not MRI, has advantages over CT alone in clinically distinguishing benign from malignant tumors of the mediastinum.Various cytokines are involved in carcinogenesis and tumor progression. Some tumor cells produce cytokines by themselves. Using secretome analysis, a high expression of APEX-1 was found in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) cell lines. During this secretome analysis, it was found that CCA cell lines overexpressed some cytokines and related molecules, including interleukin 25 (IL-25). In the present study, we first performed precise secretome analysis on cytokines and related molecules in CCA cell lines and identified that IL-25 was overexpressed in CCA cell lines. Then, using immunohistochemical methods, we investigated the expression of IL-25 in the cancer tissues from 20 CCA patients in Northeast Thailand. Correlation between IL-25 expression levels and patients' clinical parameters were analyzed. The results showed that IL-25 expression was significantly (P less then 0.0001) higher in cancerous tissues than in the normal bile ducts and in the adjacent tissues. Overexpression of IL-25 protein in CCA tissue was confirmed using western blot analysis. Moreover, IL-25 expression in cancerous tissues was significantly (P less then 0.0015) higher in CCA patients with metastasis than in CCA patients without metastasis. Survival analysis revealed that a high expression of IL-25 was correlated with shorter survival time of CCA patients (P=0.0260). Aberrant expression of IL-25 in CCA tissue was associated with tumor metastasis and poor prognosis, suggesting that IL-25 is a potential prognostic biomarker. Biological roles of IL-25 in CCA genesis and progression should be explored in future.Emergence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) forced the worldwide higher educational institutes to adopt distance learning mode. Further, remote electronic exams (E-exams) were considered as mode of assessment. Objectives This cross-sectional study evaluated the students' experience of remote E-exams during the COVID-19 pandemic among Medical Sciences students in Jordan. Materials and Methods A survey of 29 questions was prepared on Google forms and distributed among students at Faculties of Medical Sciences (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Applied Medical Sciences) at Jordan University of Science and Technology. The questions include students' demographics, stress experience, and factors contributing to stress as well as behavioral changes related to remote E-exams. Responses were analyzed using descriptive, cross tabulation and Chi-square tests. Results Among 1019 respondents, 32% reported more stress with remote E-exams. This was associated with academic major and gender. Among students witho dietary, sleep quality, physical activity and smoking are highly valuable for students' health benefits. This is of particular importance since the current students at Faculties of Medical Sciences are the future health care providers. The aim of this study was to assess the seroprevalence of SARS-Cov-2 in the setting of a non-dedicated COVID-19 hospital in a low CoV-2 incidence area. We analysed the data of the patients admitted at our surgical department during the period 31st March - June 30, 2020. Among 86 patients included in the study, we found 2 (2.3%) patients positive for both SARS-CoV-2 specific IgM and IgG, 2 (2.3%) for only SARS-CoV-2 specific IgM, and 1 for only SARS-CoV-2 specific IgG. Thus, seroprevalence for SARS-CoV-2 was 5.8%; nasopharyngeal swab was negative in all the cases. Considering the current limitations in sensitivity of nasopharyngeal swab, the uncertainty in the natural history of SARS-CoV2, and the reported prevalence of CoV-2, we think that careful preadmission triage and tests, the use of personal protective equipment and safe management of surgical smoke are mandatory also in our context of low CoV-2 incidence area.

The COVID pandemic, which started on 11th March as per the World Health Organization, has resulted in a drastic change in health care delivery, including emergency services. Most health workers have deviated towards COVID care delivery; only a few were available for non-COVID conditions. All elective and non-essential services were postponed resulting in the increased burden of the emergency department. The emergency department had to provide essential emergency care with available staff without exposing them to the virus. Triaging of the patients was modified according to the needs.

The statistics of the emergency department of this period (April and May 2020) are compared with the same period of previous years (2018-2019) with the number of patients, indications, and complications. #link# check details of triaging and preparation were discussed.

The number of patients admitted to the emergency department (ED) was low during the COVID pandemic. Nevertheless, they got admitted with complications due to delay in care delivery for non-COVID conditions resulting in more amputations of limbs and resections of the bowel. So the type of care in the emergency department was changed due to atypical presentation and complicated cases. It is necessary to ensure the provision of high quality health care delivery to non-COVID patients also.

Oral cancer (OC) is a neoplastic process of the oral cavity that has high mortality and significant effects on patients' aesthetics. The majority of OC is oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and resection remains the most frequent treatment. Recurrence is the main cause of tumor-related mortality.

A retrospective review of patients' charts at Hamad Medical Corporation examined 154 adults who were diagnosed as OSCC and referred to the national head and neck cancer multi-disciplinary team meetings between 2012 and 2018. The data extracted was demographic, pathologic and clinical. All patients with oral cavity tumors other than squamous cell carcinoma were excluded.

Males comprised the majority of the sample, mean age was 46.93 years. Tongue was the most common location. The majority of the patients were diagnosed at early stages, and a small subset of patients had histologically-proven local recurrence.

The young male predominance of OSCC patients in Qatar is unprecedented worldwide. Most patients were non-Qataris, mainly from South Asia. Loss of follow-up was a challenge in assessing the long-term outcomes of OSCC. Our findings suggest the need for a more vigilant surveillance approach to oral lesions particularly in male South-Asian patients, as well as improving the follow-up strategies.

Cervical facet dislocations are one of the traumas that caused the neurological disability, and it is often found and shows a spectrum of facet fracture-dislocations. Cervical facet dislocation classified by the mean of mechanism into a flexion-distraction injury. The goal of the treatment is to reduce the dislocation in favour of the patient's condition and hospital facility.

We reported a case of 32 years old female with incomplete spinal cord injury due to Flexion distraction injury of C4-C5 spine, cervical X-Ray shows anterior translation for about 50% of C4 relative to underlying C5 on lateral projection, the patient was diagnosed with bilateral facet cervical dislocation and treated by gradual closed reduction using Gardner Wells Tongs followed by posterior body stabilization and fusion.

We initially load of 4 kg gradually along with continuous observation using lateral cervical radiograph and careful neurological assessment. The dislocation was finally reduced after gradual and dynamic loading with 14 kg load.

There are several strategies for managing cervical injuries. Aside from whether the MRI has to perform before or after the reduction, the option on whether to use closed or open reduction can be managed at best in favour of the current condition.

Gardner Wells tongs is one of the best alternatives when the surgical approach is unavailable.

Thyroid disorders affect the life quality of patients in various aspects. The present work aims at investigating the effect of thyroid hormonal status on the quality of life (QoL) among patients receiving Levothyroxine at the level of primary healthcare.

All patients receiving Levothyroxine at an academic primary healthcare center were included in a cross-sectional evaluation. QoL was measured by the Thyroid-Related Patient-Reported Outcome questionnaire (ThyPRO). The conducted analysis was based on the last thyroid hormones level during the last year and questionnaire scores where higher scores indicated lower QoL.

We included 127 patients; all domains of their QoL questionnaire were affected. link3 The highest scored domain of the ThyPRO was tiredness, while the least was goiter symptoms. An association between the affected QoL and thyroid hormones could not be built. Certain domains of the ThyPRO were influenced by the existence of comorbid diseases.

QoL was impacted in patients receiving Levothyroxine, regardless of hormonal status. Management of comorbid diseases and patients' concerns are advised to be taken into consideration to achieve a satisfying treatment. We highly recommend the integration of health life quality assessments in primary health care systems.

The current study evaluated the effects of academic career courses offered at two institutions that were specifically designed to increase career awareness, interest, and career-related confidence among doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows. Methods Participants enrolled in a career course at trainees' respective academic institutions and responded to pre- and post-course surveys (n=32, n=148). The paper offers a thematic analysis of each of the two courses using an individualized learning plan career development framework and describes the results of their respective pretest-posttest evaluations which indicated increases in career readiness. Results Though the format and content provided in each course varied, participation was associated with increases in career readiness. Participants relize these and are an effective way to prepare PhDs for their transition from training positions into careers.
