The main epigenetic markers reported were global and gene specific methylation and/ or acetylation. The epigenetic changes led to mortality, disruption in development, and risk of later life diseases.

Maternal zinc deficiency is associated with epigenetic modifications in offspring, which induce pathologies and increase the risk of later life diseases. More research and insight into the epigenetic mechanisms could spring up new approaches to combat the associated disease conditions.

Intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury constitutes a severe disorder, in great part resulting from oxidative stress. Because sulforaphane and albumin were shown to increase antioxidant defenses, we evaluated the therapeutic potential of these agents in an experimental model of I/R injury.

Wistar rats were used to establish a model of intestinal I/R (35min of ischemia, followed by 45min of reperfusion) and were treated with albumin (5mL/kg), sulforaphane (500μg/kg), or saline intravenously before reperfusion. Animals that were not subjected to I/R served as the sham (laparotomy only) and control groups. Blood samples were analyzed for arterial gas, reactive oxygen species, and reactive nitrogen species using different molecular fluorescent probes. After euthanasia, ileal samples were collected for analysis, including histopathology, immunohistochemistry, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling assays, and lactic dehydrogenase measurement.

Oxygenation status and hphane and albumin and reinforces their use in future translational research.

The purpose of this prospective study is to evaluate if the association of Bethesda system and a 3-categories Ultrasonography (US) risk stratification system proposed by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists/American College of Endocrinology/Associazione Medici Endocrinologi improves the performance of cytology alone in III or IV categories and if further variables such as US provider (radiologist; endocrinologist, or endocrine surgeon both coming from a dedicated team) influence the accuracy of the diagnostic.

570 consecutive patients with complete clinical records, affected by Bethesda III or IV nodules, have been addressed to two public referral surgical centers of Western Sicily. Age, sex, autoimmunity, nodule size, and US provider were recorded. Fisher's exact test was used for the univariate analysis; Odd's ratios were calculated for the multivariate analysis.

248 patients had malignancy at histology, 322 were benign. The mean age was 52years for the malignancy group and 58 y for trongly improves the results of Bethesda system especially when performed from dedicated endocrinologist or endocrine surgeon.

Exposure to phthalates may affect fetal growth, but previous studies are inconsistent and have not explored the trimester-specific effects of phthalates on repeated measures of fetal growth.

To assess the associations of maternal phthalate metabolites urine concentrations with fetal growth measures and birth outcomes and identify potential windows of vulnerability to exposure.

Population-based prospective cohort study, the Generation R Study (2002-2006). Bcl-2 protein family Data analysis was performed from November 2019 to June 2020.

Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

1379 pregnant women.

Maternal phthalate metabolites urine concentrations in first, second and third trimester.

Fetal head circumference, length and weight measured in the second and third trimester by ultrasound and at birth and preterm birth and small size for gestational age at birth.

Higher pregnancy-averaged phthalic acid, low molecular weight phthalate (LMWP), high molecular weight phthalate (HMWP) and di-2-ethylhexylphthalate (DEHP) concentrations teseem to be related with fetal growth restriction and preterm birth. Phthalates may have trimester specific effects on fetal growth and birth outcomes. Further studies are needed to explore the underlying mechanisms and long-term consequences.

Previous studies of association between exposure to poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and gestational hypertension (GH) and preeclampsia (PE) have shown conflicting results, but most dichotomized outcome and did not study continuous blood pressure (BP) changes.

To study the association between PFAS exposure in early pregnancy and maternal BP trajectories in pregnancy, gestational hypertension and preeclampsia.

1436 women were enrolled in the Odense Child Cohort in early pregnancy and had a serum sample drawn, from which perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) and perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) were measured using LC-MS/MS. Repeated BP measurements through pregnancy and information on PE were obtained from hospital files. Adjusted linear mixed models were used to investigate association between PFAS exposure and BP trajectory. Associations between PFAS and PE and GH were assessed by Cox proportional BP might appear small, statistically non-significant and the possible clinical importance low. However, at a population level this may slightly shift the distribution of BP towards an increased incidence of GH. If BP increases in pregnancy, it may have long-term impact on health not only of the pregnant woman but also of her offspring.

This research is an intervention study designed as a single group pre-test post-test model without control group in order to examine the effect of education provided to nursing students based on peer education model on HIV/AIDS knowledge level and attitude.

The research was carried out at Nursing Department of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Sample of the study consisted of second year nursing students who agreed to participate in the study and enrolled Internal Medicine Nursing course for the first time (n=88). In the first stage of the study, nine peer mentors were selected and a total of 12h of training were given to them by the researchers. In the second stage, peer mentors provided a total of 12h of training to nine peer students groups. All groups were created by simple randomization on the "research randomizer" website. Demographics questionnaire, AIDS knowledge scale and AIDS attitude scale were used to collect the data. Data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson Chi-square test, paired sample t-Test, Wilcoxon test and Spearman correlation test.
