The average relative prediction error decreased from 35.7% before the correction to 8.71% after the correction. Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) are a group of diseases characterized by muscle weakness, which limit activities of daily living. Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) is a set of outcome measures developed using NIH funding, but has not yet been studied in adult IIM. Currently, the most commonly used PROs in IIM are Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ-DI) and SF-36 physical function-10 (PF10), both of which have several limitations. In this study, we investigated psychometric properties of PROMIS physical function-20 (PF-20) and compared to HAQ-DI and SF-36 PF10.

Patients with IIM completed PROMIS PF-20 and six myositis core set measures [manual muscle testing (MMT), physician (MD-GDA), patient (PT-GDA) and extra-muscular global disease activity, HAQ-DI and creatine kinase], SF-36 PF10 and functional tests [six-minute walk, timed up-and-go and sit-to-stand tests] at monthly visits over 6-months. Total improvement score (TIS) using 2016 ACR/EULAR myositis response criteria was obtained as measures of change.

Fifty patients [mean age, 51.6; 60% females] were enrolled; 6 PM, 24 DM, 9 NM and 11 with AS. PROMIS PF-20 showed strong test-retest reliability when repeated in 1-month. PROMIS PF-20 had moderate-strong correlations with MD-GDA, PT-GDA, MMT, HAQ-DI, SF-36 PF10, and functional tests indicating good convergent validity. Change in PROMIS PF-20 strongly correlated with TIS demonstrating good responsiveness. HAQ-DI and SF-36 PF10 exhibited similar validity and responsiveness; HAQ-DI was found to have a ceiling effect.

To evaluate the prognostic significance of circulating tumour cell (CTC) number determined on the Epic Sciences platform in men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) treated with an androgen receptor signalling inhibitor (ARSI).

A pre-treatment blood sample was collected from men with progressing mCRPC starting either abiraterone or enzalutamide as a first-, second- or third-line systemic therapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (Discovery cohort, N=171) or as a first- or second-line therapy as part of the multicenter PROPHECY trial (NCT02269982) (Validation cohort, N=107). The measured CTC number was then associated with overall survival (OS) in the Discovery cohort, and progression-free survival (PFS) and OS in the Validation cohort. CTC enumeration was also performed on a concurrently obtained blood sample using the CellSearch® Circulating Tumor Cell Kit.

In the MSKCC Discovery cohort, CTC count was a statistically significant prognostic factor of OS as a dichotomous (<3 CTCs/mL versus≥3 CTCs/mL; hazard ratio [HR]=1.8[95% confidence interval CI 1.3-3.0]) and a continuous variable when adjusting for line of therapy, presence of visceral metastases, prostate-specific antigen, lactate dehydrogenaseand alkaline phosphatase. The findings were validated in an independent datas et from PROPHECY (HR [95% CI]=1.8[1.1-3.0] for OS and 1.7 [1.1-2.9] for PFS). As infants become increasingly mobile, the nature of these interactions change from person-oriented to object-oriented, with the latter relying on children's emerging ability to engage in joint attention. Joint attention is acknowledged to be a foundational ability in early child development, broadly speaking, yet its operationalization has varied substantially over the course of several decades of developmental research devoted to its characterization. Here, we outline two broad research perspectives-social and associative accounts-on what constitutes joint attention. Differences center on the criteria for what qualifies as joint attention and regarding the hypothesized developmental mechanisms that underlie the ability. After providing a theoretical overview, we introduce a joint attention coding scheme that we have developed iteratively based on careful reading of the literature and our own data coding experiences. This coding scheme provides objective guidelines for characterizing mulitmodal parent-child interactions. The need for such guidelines is acute given the widespread use of this and other developmental measures to assess atypically developing populations. We conclude with a call for open discussion about the need for researchers to include a clear description of what qualifies as joint attention in publications pertaining to joint attention, as well as details about their coding. Drosophila melanogaster was selected as the model organism for our study, in which a 3.5 GHz radiofrequency radiation (RF-EMR) environment was simulated at intensities of 0.1 W/m2, 1 W/m2, and 10 W/m2. The activity of parent male and offspring (F1) male flies was measured using a Drosophila activity monitoring system under short-term and long-term 3.5 GHz RF-EMR exposure. Core genes associated with heat stress, the circadian clock and neurotransmitters were detected by QRT-PCR technology, and the contents of GABA and glutamate were detected by UPLC-MS. The results show that short-term RF-EMR exposure increased the activity level and reduced the sleep duration while long-term RF-EMR exposure reduced the activity level and increased the sleep duration of F1 male flies. Under long-term RF-EMR, the expression of heat stress response-related hsp22, hsp26 and hsp70 genes was increased, the expression of circadian clock-related per, cyc, clk, cry, and tim genes was altered, the content of GABA and glutamate was reduced, and the expression levels of synthesis, transport and receptor genes were altered. To investigate the recovery of loss of smell and taste among recovered COVID-19 patients.

This cross-sectional follow-up study is a sequel to a study by Biadsee et al. Among the previous study population of 128 non-hospitalized patients, positive for COVID-19 by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), 97 patients participated in a survey designed for this study. Information and data regarding loss of smell and taste, rate of recovery, xerostomia, and additional symptoms; (Cough, Myalgia, Weakness, Rhinorrhea, Nasal congestion) were collected.

A total of 43 men and 54 women were included. Mean age was 37.5years (range 19-74). Mean follow-up was 229days (range 191-253). Sixty-five patients reported gustatory dysfunction during the disease of which 61.5% reported full recovery, 38.5% partial recovery. Of 65 patients who reported olfactory impairment during the disease, 52% had full recovery and 48% reported partial recovery of olfactory function.
