The relationships between ovulation rate and nutrition remain confused, probably because of uncontrolled variation in experimental conditions. To help resolve the problem, we analyzed data from 20 experiments conducted between 2002 and 2016, in Uruguay with grazing ewes. All experiments were carried out by a single laboratory under comparable conditions of experimental design and measured variables. The studies used a total of 3 720 ewes, of purebred Corriedale, Polwarth, or East Friesian x Polwarth genotypes. In all experiments, a control group grazed native pastures and extra nutrition was provided to the treatment groups using either improved pastures or supplements. Ovulation rate was measured by counting corpora lutea using laparoscopy or rectal ultrasound or by counting foetuses at ultrasound on day 45 of gestation. For statistical analysis, data were grouped according to nutritional treatment (control or supplemented) and, within these groups, type of supplement to provide energy or protein (protected eight at the start of supplementation also affected ovulation rate. We conclude that ovulation was most affected by overall energy intake, whereas the factors that affected ovulation rate during short-tern nutritional supplementation were intake of protein from highly digested supplements or dietary protein protected from ruminal degradation.Lactose and somatic cell score (SCS) are major economic traits of milk. The data of 1781 animals with 6519 records obtained over a period of 41 years (1975-2016) were collected from Xinjiang Hutubi Farm, China. The associated stress can negatively impact aspects of reproductive performance. Objectives of this study were to investigate associations between 1) age at first service (AFS) and mixing aggression intensity in first parity sows, 2) mixing aggression intensity and reproductive performance within and between parity one and parity two, and 3) mixing aggression intensity, floor type during gestation and reproductive performance. Gilts (n =160, hereafter referred to as sows) were mixed into stable groups of eight unfamiliar individuals approximately 4 days after artificial insemination, housed on fully slatted concrete (CON; n =80) floor uncovered or covered with rubber slat mats (RUB; n =80), and followed through two parities. Skin lesions (SLMIX; a proxy for the intensity of mixing aggression), were scored post mixing in each parity according to severity (0=no lesions to 5=severe lesions) on fier proportion of piglets born dead (P =0.013) compared with RUB sows in parity two. Mixing aggression has a negative influence on reproductive performance within parities, and it may also have a long-term negative carry-over effect on reproductive performance in subsequent parities. Furthermore, replacing empty BW gain (EBG) with carcass gain (CG) might be a suitable alternative to estimate the retained energy (RE) of beef cattle. Thus, this multi-analysis study was conducted aiming to estimate and validate new equations to predict carcass weight (CW), EBG, and RE of Zebu, beef crossbred, and dairy crossbred. A database composed by 1112 animals encompassing bulls, steers, heifers of different genetic groups (Zebu, beef crossbred, and dairy crossbred), and two types of slaughter plants (commercial and experimental) was used for generating the new CW equation. For the development of the EBG and RE equations, a database of 636 observations composed of bulls, steers, and heifers of different genetic groups (Zebu, beef crossbred, and dairy crossbred) was assembled. The validation of new equations was performed using independent databases composed by 137 observations (80 for CW and 57 for EBG and RE).
