Supervised learning techniques were applied linear regression and k-means clustering. The results indicated that the type of blended learning in use predicted 40.4% of student learning outcomes. It also predicted 71.9% of the effective learning behaviors of students in learning management systems. It therefore appears that blended learning applied in Learning Management System (LMS) with hypermedia resources favors greater achievement of effective learning. Likewise, with this type of Blended Learning (BL) a larger number of students were found to belong to the intermediate cluster, suggesting that this environment strengthens better results in a larger number of students. BL with hypermedia resources and project-based learning increase students´ learning outcomes and interaction in learning management systems. Demographic parameters such as host recruitment rates can have profound effects on the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases and, thus, are critically important in high-turnover populations such as farmed swine. However, knowledge concerning the implications that such parameters have on S. suis disease control remains unknown. A stochastic mathematical model incorporating sub-clinically infected pigs was developed to capture the effects of changes in host recruitment rate on disease incidence. Compared to our base model scenario, our results show that monthly introduction of pigs into the nursery (instead of weekly introduction) reduced cumulative cases of S. suis by up to 59%, while increasing disease-removal rates alone averted up to 64% of cases. Sensitivity analysis demonstrated that the course of infection in sub-clinically infected pigs was highly influential and generated significant variability in the model outcomes. Kale (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala) plants were grown in a plant factory and harvested at 42 days after transplanting. The single and combination treatments lasted for 7 to 1 days and 4 to 2 days before harvest, respectively. The results of both Fv/Fm (maximal photochemical efficiency in photosystem II) and leaf water potential could ensure the function of photosynthesis and maintain normal leaf moisture in single drought treatments of less than 4 days. As a result, drought for 3 days before harvest could achieve the highest potential value of kale as a source of natural antioxidants.Abstract Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)/epoxy composites with excellent adhesive properties were prepared by forming an interface membrane on the UHMWPE fiber surface. The interface membrane of the UHMWPE fiber and epoxy resin was polymerized by an aldol condensation between polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and glutaraldehyde. Different surface treatment methods of UHMWPE fibers were optimized and the two-step PVA-glutaraldehyde condensation (Corona-PG-2S) method is the best. The interfacial adhesion between UHMWPE fiber and epoxy resin was enhanced, and the adhesive properties of the composite were improved. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and energy dispersive spectrum (EDS) results of the fiber treated by Corona-PG-2S shows that the surface oxygen content was up to 25.0 wt %, with an increase of 17.3 wt % compared with the surface oxygen content of unmodified UHMWPE fiber, which indicated that the surface polarity was greatly enhanced. The adhesive properties were improved by improving the polarity of the surface. The peel strength, ultimate cohesive force, tensile strength and flexural strength of the composite treated by Corona-PG-2S were greatly increased to 262.8 %, 166.9 %, 139.7 %, 200.6 % compared with those of unmodified samples. Interviews were conducted with key opinion leaders, including village chiefs, traditional healers, heads of health centres and pesticide sellers. Focus group discussions were conducted with youth and elders. A total of 203 individuals participated in the questionnaire survey (132 males, 65%). We found that people had good knowledge about malaria and mosquitoes transmitting the disease, while they felt that preventing measures were ineffective.
