An impedance sensor able to measure the release of microencapsulated active compounds was developed. The sensor was tested with calcium alginate beads encapsulating iron ions and ascorbic acid as active compounds. The prediction and measurement potential of this sensor was improved by developing a thermodynamic model that allows obtaining kinetic parameters that will allow suitable encapsulation design for subsequent release.Data-driven chatter detection techniques avoid complex physical modeling and provide the basis for industrial applications of cutting process monitoring. Among them, feature extraction is the key step of chatter detection, which can compensate for the accuracy disadvantage of machine learning algorithms to some extent if the extracted features are highly correlated with the milling condition. However, the classification accuracy of the current feature extraction methods is not satisfactory, and a combination of multiple features is required to identify the chatter. This limits the development of unsupervised machine learning algorithms for chattering detection, which further affects the application in practical processing. In this paper, the fractal feature of the signal is extracted by structure function method (SFM) for the first time, which solves the problem that the features are easily affected by process parameters. Milling chatter is identified based on k-means algorithm, which avoids the complex process of training model, and the judgment method of milling chatter is also discussed. The proposed method can achieve 94.4% identification accuracy by using only one single signal feature, which is better than other feature extraction methods, and even better than some supervised machine learning algorithms. Moreover, experiments show that chatter will affect the distribution of cutting bending moment, and it is not reliable to monitor tool wear through the polar plot of the bending moment. This provides a theoretical basis for the application of unsupervised machine learning algorithms in chatter detection.Three-dimensional point cloud registration (PCReg) has a wide range of applications in computer vision, 3D reconstruction and medical fields. Although numerous advances have been achieved in the field of point cloud registration in recent years, large-scale rigid transformation is a problem that most algorithms still cannot effectively handle. To solve this problem, we propose a point cloud registration method based on learning and transform-invariant features (TIF-Reg). Our algorithm includes four modules, which are the transform-invariant feature extraction module, deep feature embedding module, corresponding point generation module and decoupled singular value decomposition (SVD) module. In the transform-invariant feature extraction module, we design TIF in SE(3) (which means the 3D rigid transformation space) which contains a triangular feature and local density feature for points. It fully exploits the transformation invariance of point clouds, making the algorithm highly robust to rigid transformation. the-art PCReg algorithms in terms of accuracy and complexity.In a Wi-Fi indoor positioning system (IPS), the performance of the IPS depends on the channel state information (CSI), which is often limited due to the multipath fading effect, especially in indoor environments involving multiple non-line-of-sight propagation paths. In this paper, we propose a novel IPS utilizing trajectory CSI observed from predetermined trajectories instead of the CSI collected at each stationary location; thus, the proposed method enables all the CSI along each route to be continuously encountered in the observation. Further, by using a generative adversarial network (GAN), which helps enlarge the training dataset, the cost of trajectory CSI collection can be significantly reduced. To fully exploit the trajectory CSI's spatial and temporal information, the proposed IPS employs a deep learning network of a one-dimensional convolutional neural network-long short-term memory (1DCNN-LSTM). One of the major challenges associated with building these networks is handover prediction; this is because the mobility model of the sensor nodes is different from that of ground-based wireless sensor network (WSN) devices. Therefore, handover prediction is the focus of the present work. There have been limited efforts in addressing the handover prediction problem in UWSNs and in the use of ensemble learning in handover prediction for UWSNs. Hence, we propose the simulation of the sensor node mobility using real marine data collected by the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency. These data include the water current speed and direction between data. The proposed simulation consists of a large number of sensor nodes and base stations in a UWSN. Next, we collected the handover events from the simulation, which were utilized as a dataset for the handover prediction task. Finally, we utilized four machine learning prediction algorithms (i.e., gradient boosting, decision tree (DT), Gaussian naive Bayes (GNB), and K-nearest neighbor (KNN)) to predict handover events based on historically collected handover events. The obtained prediction accuracy rates were above 95%. The best prediction accuracy rate achieved by the state-of-the-art method was 56% for any UWSN. Moreover, when the proposed models were evaluated on performance metrics, the measured evolution scores emphasized the high quality of the proposed prediction models. While the ensemble learning model outperformed the GNB and KNN models, the performance of ensemble learning and decision tree models was almost identical.This investigation develops a laser encoder system based on a heterodyne laser interferometer. For eliminating geometric errors, the optical structure of the proposed encoder system was carried out with the internal zero-point method. Selected were 276 patients over 19 years of age to complete the questionnaire for oral health habit and take QLF images, periapical and panoramic radiographs. Oral health habit score, age, and sex showed a statistically significant correlation with FPI. The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity of a new application on the use of these wearable sensors, specifically to evaluate a magnet-based timing system (M-BTS) for timing short-duration sports actions using the magnetometer built into an IMU in different sporting contexts. Forty-eight athletes (22.7 ± 3.3 years, 72.2 ± 10.3 kg, 176.9 ± 8.5 cm) and eight skiers (17.4 ± 0.8 years, 176.4 ± 4.9 cm, 67.7 ± 2.0 kg) performed a 60-m linear sprint running test and a ski slalom, respectively. The M-BTS consisted of placing several magnets along the course in both contexts. The magnetometer built into the IMU detected the peak-shaped magnetic field when passing near the magnets at a certain speed. The time between peaks was calculated. The system was validated with photocells. The 95% error intervals for the total times were less than 0.077 s for the running test and 0.050 s for the ski slalom. This paper is devoted to presenting a fair benchmark of the most relevant order reduction techniques present in the literature categorized by the following (i) greedy pursuits, including Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP), Doubly Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (DOMP), Subspace Pursuit (SP) and Random Forest (RF); (ii) regularization techniques, including ridge regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO); (iii) heuristic local search methods, including hill climbing (HC) and dynamic model sizing (DMS); and (iv) global probabilistic optimization algorithms, including simulated annealing (SA), genetic algorithms (GA) and adaptive Lipschitz optimization (adaLIPO). The comparison is carried out with modeling and linearization performance and in terms of runtime. To address this gap, we conducted research on micro-gesture detection on physical objects based on Google Soli's radar sensor. We introduced two novel deep learning architectures to process range Doppler images, namely a three-dimensional convolutional neural network (Conv3D) and a spectrogram-based ConvNet. The results show that our architectures enable robust on-object gesture detection, achieving an accuracy of approximately 94% for a five-gesture set, surpassing previous state-of-the-art performance results by up to 39%.
