5% (n=24) of cases. Cases did not differ significantly from controls regarding CYP3A4, CYP2C9, or OATP1B1 phenotypes, and genetic variation explained only 20.6% (n=7) of cases. Withdrawal of simvastatin without switching to another statin or with a switch to a hydrophilic statin led to improvement or stabilization in all NSIP cases, whereas all cases who were switched to the lipophilic atorvastatin progressed.

Simvastatin-associated pulmonary toxicity is multifactorial. For patients with this drug-induced pulmonary toxicity who need to continue taking a statin, switching to a hydrophilic statin should be considered. CLINICALTRIALS.

Reactive strength index (RSI) is used frequently in the testing and monitoring of athletes. Associations with sports performance measures may vary dependent on the task but a literature synthesis has not been performed.

The aim of this meta-analysis was to examine associations between RSI measured during rebound jumping tasks and measures of strength, linear and change of direction speed, and endurance performance.

A systematic literature search with meta-analysis was conducted using databases PubMed, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science, and Ovid. Inclusion criteria required studies to (1) examine the relationship between RSI and an independent measure of physical or sporting performance for at least one variable; and (2) provide rebound test instructions to minimise ground contact time and maximise displacement of the jump. Methodological quality was assessed using a modified version of the Downs and Black Quality Index tool. Heterogeneity was examined via the Q statistic and I

. Pooled effect sizes were calcied primarily moderate associations between RSI and independent measures of physical and sporting performance, and the strength of these relationships varied based on the task and physical quality assessed. The findings from this meta-analysis can help practitioners to develop more targeted testing and monitoring processes. Future research may wish to examine if associations are stronger in tasks that display greater specificity.

Precise segmentation of intestinal wall vessels is vital to colonic perforation prevention. However, there are interferences such as gastric juice in the vessel image of the intestinal wall, especially vessels and the mucosal folds are difficult to distinguish, which easily lead to mis-segmentation. In addition, the insufficient feature extraction of intricate vessel structures may leave out information of tiny vessels that result in rupture. To overcome these challenges, an effective network is proposed for segmentation of intestinal wall vessels.

A global context attention network (GCA-Net) that employs a multi-scale fusion attention (MFA) module is proposed to adaptively integrate local and global context information to improve the distinguishability of mucosal folds and vessels, more importantly, the ability to capture tiny vessels. Also, a parallel decoder is used to introduce a contour loss function to solve the blurry and noisy blood vessel boundaries.

Extensive experimental results demonstrate tt the intestinal wall vessels.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) has become the leading cause of blindness worldwide. In clinical practice, the detection of DR often takes a lot of time and effort for ophthalmologist. It is necessary to develop an automatic assistant diagnosis method based on medical image analysis techniques.

Firstly, we design a feature enhanced attention module to capture focus lesions and regions. Secondly, we propose a stage sampling strategy to solve the problem of data imbalance on datasets and avoid the CNN ignoring the focus features of samples that account for small parts. Finally, we treat DR detection as a regression task to keep the gradual change characteristics of lesions and output the final classification results through the optimization method on the validation set.

Extensive experiments are conducted on open-source datasets. Our methods achieve 0.851 quadratic weighted kappa which outperforms first place in the Kaggle DR detection competition based on the EyePACS dataset and get the accuracy of 0.914 in the referable/non-referable task and 0.913 in the normal/abnormal task based on the Messidor dataset.

In this paper, we propose three novel automatic DR detection methods based on deep convolutional neural networks. The results illustrate that our methods can obtain comparable performance compared with previous methods and generate visualization pictures with potential lesions for doctors and patients.

Mammalian adipose tissue is largely divided into white adipose tissue and brown adipose tissue, although recent studies have discovered the existence of beige adipocytes. Adipose tissues are widespread over the whole body and each location shows distinctive metabolic features. Mice are used as a representative experimental model system in metabolic studies due to their numerous advantages. Importantly, the adipose tissues of experimental animals and humans are not perfectly matched, and each adipose tissue exhibits both similar and specific characteristics. Nevertheless, the diversity and characteristics of mouse adipose tissue have not yet been comprehensively summarized. This review summarizes diverse information about the different types of adipose tissue being studied in mouse models. The types and characteristics of adipocytes were described, and each adipose tissue was classified by type, and features such as its distribution, origin, differences from humans, and metabolic characteristics were described. In particular, the distribution of widely studied adipose tissues was illustrated so that researchers can comprehensively grasp its location. Also, the adipose tissues misused or confusingly used among researchers were described. Rapamycin nmr This review will provide researchers with comprehensive information and cautions needed to study adipose tissues in mouse models.

The sensitivity of cytology after fine needle aspiration (FNA-cytology) in detecting medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is low. To overcome this problem, measuring calcitonin (CT) in washout fluid of FNA (FNA-CT) has been largely diffused and showed good performance. However, no evidence-based study exists comparing systematically the sensitivity of FNA-cytology and FNA-CT. This study aimed to systematically review the literature and collect data allowing a head-to-head comparison meta-analysis between FNA-cytology and FNA-CT in detecting MTC lesions.

The online databases of PubMed/MEDLINE and Scopus were searched until June 2021. Original articles reporting the use of both FNA-cytology and FNA-CT in the same series of histologically proven MTC lesions were included They were extracted general features of each study, number of MTC lesions (nodule and neck lymph nodes), and true positive and false negatives of both FNA-cytology and FNA-CT.

Six studies were included. The sensitivity of FNA-cytology varied from 20% to 86% with a pooled value of 54% (95% CI 35-73%) and significant heterogeneity. The sensitivity of FNA-CT was higher than 95% in almost all studies with a pooled value of 98% (95% CI 96-100%) without heterogeneity. The sensitivity of FNA-CT was significantly higher than that of FNA-cytology.

FNA-CT is significantly more sensitive than FNA-cytology in detecting MTC. Accordingly, FNA-CT represents the standard method to use in patients with suspicious MTC lesions, combined with cytology.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an emerging global threat. It increases mortality and morbidity and strains healthcare systems. Health care professionals can counter the rising AMR by promoting antibiotic stewardship and facilitating new drug development. Even with the economic and scientific challenges, it is reassuring that new agents continue to be developed.

This review addresses new antibiotics in the pipeline. We conducted a review of the literature including Medline, Clinicaltrials.org, and relevant pharmaceutical companies for approved and in pipeline antibiotics in phase 3 or new drug application (NDA).

We found a number of new antibiotics and reviewed their current development status, mode of action, spectra of activity, and indications for which they have been approved. The included studies from phase 3 clinical trials were mainly utilized for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections, community-acquired bacterial pneumonia, and pneumonia acquired in the healthcare settings. The number of these agents is limited against high priority organisms. The identified antibiotics were based mainly on previously known molecules or pre-existing antimicrobial agents.

There are a limited number of antibiotics against high priority organisms such as multi-drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. New antimicrobial agents directed against the top priority organisms as classified by the World Health Organization are urgently needed.

Positive effects of exercise in cancer patients have been reported.

To investigate whether intensity, duration, and timing of exercise affect disease relapse and mortality risk in patients with breast cancer (BC).

Patients with local or locally advanced stages of BC between January 2018 and January 2020 were recruited in the study. Sociodemographic and clinicopathological characteristics of patients were recorded. Exercise evaluation was performed by preparing a questionnaire and asking the patients face-to-face questions in the outpatient clinic.

Risk of relapse was 58% lower in patients who exercised than inactive patients (p = 0.004). Patients who exercised for 2 to 5days per week had a 63% lower relapse risk than inactive patients (p = 0.010). Risk of relapse was 66% lower in the patients who exercised for less than 1h or 3 metabolic equivalent of task (MET)-hours per week when compared to inactive patients (p = 0.037). Similarly, relapse risk was 62% lower in patients who exercised between 1 to 3h or 3 to 8.
