Drawing on recent scholarship and my own research, this paper examines some of the interactions between experts and popular discourses on brainwashing. Kit lot change in clinical biochemistry labs leads to variations in patient results. This study planned to identify variations during 60 reagent lot changes in our laboratory during the period from June 2018 to May 2019.

A statistical analysis was performed to identify the difference between patient samples results variations and QC results. The long term drift was analyzed using a regression test.

There was a significant difference between the patient and QC results in 16.7% of reagent lot changes. Moreover, the extent of variation in QC results was 3.3%. No long-term drift was seen in three analytes which were studied using regression analysis.

Our results showed that, during reagent kit lot change, along with QC material, the patient samples should also be run in order to identify the variation. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects human health worldwide. Our objective was to explore the correlation between urinary retinol-binding protein (URBP) and NAFLD.

This cross-sectional study included 445 NAFLD patients and 911 healthy controls. The URBP level and other parameters were measured.

The URBP level (expressed by the RBP/creatinine ratio) was higher in the NAFLD patients compared with the non-NAFLD patients. The urinary RBP/creatinine ratio was an independent risk factor for NAFLD after univariate and multivariate regression analysis, with the or values of 2.271 (1.795-2.872, P < 0.001) and 2.338 (1.775-3.080, P < 0.001), respectively. The prevalence of the urinary RBP/creatinine ratio (groups 1, 2, 3, 4) was 20.0%, 17.3%, 27.3%, and 35.4%, respectively (P < 0.001), and the prevalence of NAFLD in the high urinary RBP/creatinine ratio group was significantly higher than that in the low urinary RBP/creatinine ratio group.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a frequently encountered disorder. This study aimed to identify polymorphisms in ADRB2 in Saudi PCOS development and to study its influence on lipids, hormones, and anthropometric parameters.

Saudi females (100) suffering from PCOS and healthy controls (100) were investigated. The estimation of cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), plasma glucose, leptin Insulin, and ghrelin were carried out. The DNA was extracted, and

The waist, W/H ratio, lipids, glucose, and insulin were significantly higher in the obese PCOS compared to the normal weight group. The leptin and ghrelin were not different. Two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs1042713 (Arg16Gly; A>G) and rs1042714 (Gln27Glu; C>G) were identified. The genotype and allele frequency of rs1042713 did not differ in the total PCOS and normal weight, and obese PCOS compare to the controls. Howin. The aim of this study was to find possible predictive biomarkers produced from routine blood biochemistry analysis results evaluated preoperatively in each patient with solitary brain tumor in distinguishing glioblastoma from metastatic brain tumors as well as revealing short-term prognosis.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the most common causes of chronic liver disease and is associated with various co-morbidities. Transient elastography (FibroScan®) is a non-invasive method to detect NAFLD using the controlled attenuation parameter (CAP). We aimed to evaluate the association of the lipid panel and aminotransferases concentrations with the presence or absence of steatosis and fibrosis.

One hundred and five patients with NAFLD were included. Hepatic steatosis was quantified by CAP (dB/m) and liver stiffness by Kilopascals (kPa), these values were then analyzed against patient lipid panel and serum concentrations of the liver enzymes aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). A correlation and multiple regression were used. Mann-Whitney U test was used as non-parametric analysis.

Till to date whether adiponectin AdipoQ gene variation (rs 1501299) is associated with cardiovascular disease, still remains controversial. Therefore, we aimed to relate the SNP (rs1501299) of adiponectin gene and oxidative stress in context to CVD in Punjabi women of North West India.
