We aim to (a) determine cyamella prevalence in a Korean population, (b) examine coincident development of the cyamella and fabella, and (c) perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on the cyamella in humans. Medical computed tomography scans of 106 individuals were reviewed. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed following PRISMA guidelines. Cyamellae were found in 3/212 knees (1.4%), and presence/absence was uncorrelated to height, age, and sex. The cyamella was not found coincidentally with the fabella, although the statistical power was low. Our systematic review/meta-analysis revealed cyamellae were generally asymptomatic and ossification could occur at 14 years. Cyamellae were equally likely to be found in both sexes, knees, one or both knees, and there appeared to be no global variation in prevalence rates. Cyamellae were found in three distinct locations. There is little support for the role of intrinsic genetic and/or environmental factors in cyamella development in humans. However, the apparent phylogenetic signal in Primates suggests genetics plays a role in cyamella development. We propose a cyamella classification system based on cyamella location (Class I, popliteal sulcus; Class II, tibial condyle; Class III, fibular head) and hypothesize locations may correspond to distinct developmental pathways, and cyamella function may vary with location.Greywater, the wastewater from sinks, showers and laundry, is an understudied environment for bacterial communities. Most greywater studies focus on quantifying pathogens, often via proxies used in other wastewater, like faecal indicator bacteria; there is a need to identify more greywater-appropriate surrogates, like Staphylococcus sp. Sequencing-based studies have revealed distinct communities in different types of greywater as well as in different parts of greywater infrastructure, including biofilms on pipes, holding tanks and filtration systems. The use of metagenomic sequencing provides high resolution on both the taxa and genes present, which may be of interest in cases like identifying pathogens and surrogates relevant to different matrices, monitoring antibiotic resistance genes and understanding metabolic processes occurring in the system. Here, we review what is known about bacterial communities in different types of greywater and its infrastructure. We suggest that wider adoption of environmental sequencing in greywater research is important because it can describe the entire bacterial community along with its metabolic capabilities, including pathways for removal of nutrients and organic materials. We briefly describe a metagenomic dataset comparing different types of greywater samples in a college dormitory building to highlight the type of questions these methods can address. Metagenomic sequencing can help further the understanding of greywater treatment for reuse because it allows for identification of new pathogens or genes of concern.The general principles of anatomical terminology indicate that the "mandibular canal" should be named the "inferior alveolar canal" as it accommodates the inferior alveolar neurovascular bundles. Therefore, we performed a Delphi study to evaluate the current understanding and use of the terminology in different geographical regions and areas of expertise and to determine the appropriate terminology for this bony canal. A Delphi panel was formed and questions sent and answered via email about field of expertise (anatomy, oral surgery/oral and maxillofacial (OMF) surgery, oral radiology/OMF radiology, plastic surgery, ENT surgery, or dentistry with the exception of oral/OMF surgery and oral/OMF radiology), years of experience in the field of expertise, country currently working in, "what is the name of the bony canal that contains the inferior alveolar neurovascular bundle," and "what should the structure above be called, in general?" A total of 52 participants responded to the questionnaire. Half or more of the experts in anatomy, oral/OMF surgery, and ENT/plastic surgery considered "mandibular canal" to be the most appropriate name for this bony canal. In contrast, more than half of all experts in oral/OMF radiology and dentistry, that is, most fields of dentistry, considered "either mandibular canal or inferior alveolar canal" to be the appropriate name. The results of the Delphi study and general principles suggest that an alternative term for the "mandibular canal" should be "inferior alveolar canal."
