In Australia stressors pertaining to socioeconomic, housing and employment precariousness, as well as difficulties in accessing halal foods were identified as challenges. Furthermore, food stress in Australia was associated with the cultural appropriateness of food, the complexity of the food system, and the women's lack of skills and experiences in navigating the food system. With increasing refugee and immigration flows globally, it is necessary to acknowledge how food and social determinants intersect for refugee immigrants to ensure positive health outcomes. The aim of this work was to develop sensors that enable the monitoring of respiratory frequencies and will be competitive at a global level in replacing conventional electronic sensors based on rigid and uncomfortable materials. The preliminary work carried out showed the real possibility of creating flat fibrous products containing carbon nanotubes with sensory properties. Bearing in mind the production of a textile deformation sensor, textile materials with high elasticity and deformation reversibility were used in the preliminary studies. The authors assumed that it would be possible to conduct registration associated with the measurement of pneumography continuously in various atmospheric conditions and with varying intensification of human physical activity. The conducted experiment allows us to state that the resistance at the level of 10 kΩ is sufficient to collect results of breathing frequency at rest and after physical effort.Subjective aspects such as oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and depression are important aspects in the periodontal care. The objectives of the study were to test a predictive model of clinical attachment loss and OHRQoL in a pooled sample of dental patients with periodontitis and mental health patients with depressive symptomatology, and test the invariance of the model across both types of patients. Selleckchem D-Lin-MC3-DMA Three self-report scales were applied to assess depression, OHRQoL and oral hygiene habits, saliva samples were collected for three proinflammatory biomarkers, and the clinical attachment loss was measured in 35 patients with periodontitis and 26 patients with depressive symptomatology. Data were analyzed through structural equation modeling. The one-group analysis revealed a psychosomatic complaint model of disagreement between the complaint and the clinically observable. In the multi-group analysis, the model was not invariant. It was necessary to introduce a singularity in relation to depressive symptomatology for each population. Thus, a good and equivalent fit was achieved between the six nested models in constraints, as well as equivalent parameters between both types of patients. The study of a dental population in conjunction with a mental health population with a psychosomatic risk factor reveals interesting and unexpected results.Glucans possess a broad spectrum of biological activities. In this context, the present study was performed to isolate glucans from an Italian cultivar of Ziziphus jujuba Mill. at three different harvesting periods, in order to evaluate their effects on wound healing. The dry fruits were subjected to an alkaline extraction and then isolated glucans were purified by dialyzation. The crude and soluble samples were characterized by FT-IR and SEM analyses. Afterwards, total, α- and β-glucan content was measured using an enzymatic procedure. The results highlighted that the glucan amount increased as the maturation proceeded as well as the β-glucan percentage, which ranged from 48.2 at the first harvesting to 65.4 at the third harvesting. Furthermore, the effects of isolated glucans on the viability and migration of keratinocytes were evaluated using the in vitro MTT and scratch wound assays. The best proliferative effects on keratinocyte migration have been achieved with soluble glucans from third harvesting at 100 μM after 24 and 48 h (*** P less then 0.001). The same treated group showed significant narrowing of the scratch area after 24 h and complete closure of the injury after 48 h. The findings highlighted the effectiveness of soluble glucans on regeneration of damaged skin.In the pathology-oriented study of depression, inflammation hypothesis has received increasing attention for recent years. To mimic the depressive state caused by inflammation, rodents injected intraperitoneally with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) are usually used to stimulate an immune response. However, the dose of LPS that causes depressive-like behavior varies widely across many literatures. Previous study has uncovered the non-linearity in the dose-effect relationship for the depressive-like behavior induced by LPS administration, while the reason for this is still unclear. The present study aims to investigate the underlying mechanisms of this non-linear dose-dependent relationship. Four groups of mice were injected intraperitoneally with different doses of LPS (0, 0.32, 0.8, and 2 mg/kg). The tail suspension test was conducted to evaluate the depressive-like behavior within 23-25 h after the LPS administration. The neuroplasticity was assessed by the levels of related proteins, TrkB and PSD-95, and by the qucorresponded to the content of these two metabolites of the KYN pathway in each group. Consequently, it was speculated that the homeostasis of different glial cells could lead to a non-linear dose-dependent behavior by regulating the KYN pathway in the LPS-induced depressive-like mice. The paper is devoted to the structure and properties of the composite material based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) covered with pyrolytic iron and chromium. Fe/MWCNTs and Cr/MWCNTs nanocomposites have been prepared by the metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) growth technique using iron pentacarbonyl and bis(arene)chromium compounds, respectively. Composites structures and morphologies preliminary study were performed using X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy and Raman scattering. The atomic and chemical composition of the MWCNTs' surface, Fe-coating and Cr-coating and interface-(MWCNTs surface)/(metal coating) were studied by total electron yield method in the region of near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) C1s, Fe2p and Cr2p absorption edges using synchrotron radiation of the Russian-German dipole beamline (RGBL) at BESSY-II and the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) method using the ESCALAB 250 Xi spectrometer and charge compensation system.
