The primary purpose is to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture and physical training on DRA in post-partum women. The study will be conducted from March 2022 to March 2023. In this study, we evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture in post-partum with DRA.Aims To identify dietary patterns during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and to examine their association with changes in weight status in the Chinese population. Methods The 2020 China COVID-19 cross-sectional survey is an anonymous 74-item survey administered via social media across 31 provinces in mainland China between April and May 2020. Dietary data were assessed by a Food Frequency Questionnaire and the changes in weight status were self-reported. Exploratory factor analysis using the principal component analysis method was applied to identify dietary patterns. The multinomial regression models were conducted, and forest plots were used to present the associations between dietary patterns and changes in weight status. link2 Results Of a total of 10,545 adults (aged ≥18 years), more than half of participants reported to have weight gain, with 18.6% of men and 16.3% of women having weight gain >2.5 kg. Approximately 8% of participants reported to have weight loss, with 2.1% of men and 2.5% women having weight loss >2.5 kg. Two dietary patterns, namely, the modern and prudent dietary patterns, were identified during the COVID-19 pandemic. The modern dietary pattern was loaded heavily with soft drinks, fried foods, pickles, and inversely with fresh vegetables. The prudent dietary pattern was characterized by high intake of fresh fruits, vegetables, and inversely with soft drinks and fried food. Nowadays, pathogenic variants of SLC13A3 gene were found to cause acute reversible leukoencephalopathy and α-ketoglutarate accumulation (ARLIAK) in patients. Here, we report two novel SLC13A3 variants c.185C>T (p.T62M) and c.331C>T (p.R111*) identified in a Chinese patient with ARLIAK. Case Presentation The patient was a Chinese girl aged 13 years and 7 months old, who had acute, recurrent neurological deterioration during two febrile episodes. She presented with reversible leukoencephalopathy and increased urinary excretion of α-ketoglutarate. Genetic studies revealed compound heterozygous variants (c.185C>T, p.T62M, and c.331C>T, p.R111*) in SLC13A3, which had not been reported previously. Conclusions These findings expand the variant spectrum of SLC13A3, providing the basis for the further study of this rare disease.Necrotizing stomatitis is a rare, acute-onset disease that is usually associated with severely malnourished children or diminished systemic resistance. We describe a 1-year-old girl who developed necrotizing stomatitis, vasculitic rash, skin desquamation on the fingers and toes, and persistent hypertension after serologically confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Her laboratory investigations revealed positive IgG anticardiolipin and IgG anti-β2 glycoprotein antibodies, and biopsy of the mucosa of the lower jaw showed necrosis and endothelial damage with mural thrombi. Swollen endothelial cells of small veins in the upper dermis were confirmed also by electron microscopy. As illustrated by our case, necrotizing stomatitis may develop as a rare complication associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection and can be considered as a part of the clinical spectrum of COVID-19 vasculopathy. The pathogenic mechanism could involve a consequence of inflammatory events with vasculopathy, hypercoagulability, and damage of endothelial cells as a response to SARS-CoV-2 infection.The rise in rates of opioid abuse in recent years in the United States has led to a dramatic increase in the incidence of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). Despite improved understanding of NAS and its acute symptoms, there remains a paucity of information regarding the long-term effects of prenatal exposure to drugs of abuse on neurological development. The primary goal of this study was to investigate the effects of prenatal drug exposure on synaptic connectivity within brain regions associated with the mesolimbic dopamine pathway, the primary reward pathway associated with drug abuse and addiction, in a mouse model. Our secondary goal was to examine the role of the Ca+2 channel subunit α2δ-1, known to be involved in key developmental synaptogenic pathways, in mediating these effects. Pregnant mouse dams were treated orally with either the opioid drug buprenorphine (commonly used in medication-assisted treatment for substance use patients), gabapentin (neuropathic pain drug that binds to α2δ-1 and has been increasingly co-abused with opioids), a combination of both drugs, or vehicle daily from gestational day 6 until postnatal day 11. Our aim was to determine the mode of death for children who died with sTBI in a Pediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) and evaluate factors associated with mortality. link3 Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study of all severely injured trauma patients (Injury Severity Score ≥ 12) with sTBI (Glasgow Coma Scale [GCS] ≤ 8 and Maximum Abbreviated Injury Scale ≥ 4) admitted to a Canadian PCCU (2000-2016). We analyzed mode of death, clinical factors, interventions, lab values within 24 h of admission (early) and pre-death (48 h prior to death), and reviewed meeting notes in patients who died in the PCCU. Results Of 195 included patients with sTBI, 55 (28%) died in the PCCU. Of these, 31 (56%) had a physiologic death (neurologic determination of death or cardiac arrest), while 24 (44%) had withdrawal of life-sustaining therapies (WLST). Median (IQR) times to death were 35.2 (11.8, 86.4) hours in the physiologic group and 79.5 (17.6, 231.3) hours in the WLST group (p = 0.08). The physiologic group had higher partial thromboplastin time (PTT) within 24 h of admission (p = 0.04) and lower albumin prior to death (p = 0.04). Conclusions Almost half of sTBI deaths in the PCCU were by WLST. There was a trend toward a longer time to death in these patients. We found few early and late (pre-death) factors associated with mode of death, namely higher PTT and lower albumin.Human activities have been changing in conjunction with the status of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, with school closures and activity cancellations becoming commonplace. As such, the COVID-19 pandemic likely also has had a detrimental impact on the behavioral problems of children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD). In Japan, the government issued a stay-at-home order causing children to stop participating in school activities following the first declaration of a state of emergency (April 7 to May 25, 2020). During winter 2020, the stay-at-home order and school closures were lifted. Using longitudinal data of children with NDD, we compared the behavioral problems of children with NDD between October 1 and December 31, 2020 (i.e., winter 2020) with their behavioral problems before the COVID-19 pandemic (pre-COVID-19). In this study, 143 caregivers of children with NDD evaluated their behavioral problems using the Japanese version of the Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC-J) in the pre-COVID-19 period and winter 2020. We found no scores that were higher in winter 2020 compared to pre-COVID-19. Moreover, irritability and hyperactivity scores were significantly lower in winter 2020 compared to pre-COVID-19. These findings suggest weak negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the behavioral problems of children with NDD. In schools and clinical practice, children learned knowledge about COVID-19 and related preventive behaviors. Therefore, these practices may have alleviated the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children with NDD.We examined feeding problems, including Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), in preschool children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Data were collected from a prospective longitudinal study of 46 children with ASD in a multiethnic, low resource area in Gothenburg, Sweden. Feeding problems were found in 76% of the children with ASD, and in 28%, the criteria for ARFID were met. The study highlights early onset age, the heterogeneity of feeding problems, and the need for multidisciplinary assessments in ASD as well as in feeding problems, and also the need for further elaboration of feeding disorder classifications in children.
