Compared with preprocessed obstacle environments, unknown environments are more challenging for path planning. In unknown environments, an agent can make decisions only by relying on the obstacle information detected by its onboard sensors. However, when facing non-convex obstacles, this limited detection information can easily trap the agent in a local optimum. In this paper, a nature-inspired methodology called Interfered Fluid Dynamic System (IFDS) is extended to anti-local-optimum obstacle avoidance in unknown 3D environments for the first time and a novel fluid-based path planning framework is proposed. First, the detection region of the agent is discretized. Then, spherical virtual obstacles (SVOs) located at detected discrete points are generated and memorized. Thus, obstacle avoidance in unknown environments is transformed into the avoidance of known SVOs. Next, the currently generated and memorized SVOs are input to the core of the framework, the IFDS algorithm, to produce repulsive effects, and the corresponding 3D avoidance path is resolved. On this basis, to address local optimum in cases with non-convex obstacles, and considering compatibility with the IFDS, the direction coefficient and sink-heading angular rate adjustment strategies, which belong to the same system as the IFDS, are introduced to modify the IFDS in this framework. Finally, receding horizon control is introduced to improve the obstacle avoidance performance. Simulations show that the proposed framework can enable the agent to autonomously jump out of the 3D non-convex obstacle environments with typical features of the local optimum, including wall-like and cave-like obstacles, and safely reach the destination.The present study reports a dense bloom of the marine-diatom Hemidiscus hardmanianus observed off the Tuticorin coast in the Gulf of Mannar (GoM), India. The bloom extended over an area of approximately 5 km2 around the Tuticorin harbor. Distribution and relative abundance of the phytoplankton and zooplankton species together with the water quality and Chlorophyll-a were studied in the area of bloom. H. hardmanianus density was maximum (10.57 × 104 cells L-1) in the bloom site, which was almost 97% of the total phytoplankton population. Pb, Cd, V, Ni, Cr, and As median levels (mg kg-1) were 0.09, 0.08, 0.29, 0.77, 0.35, and 2.35 in clams and 0.16, 0.15, 0.46, 0.48, 0.25, and 3.34 in mussels. The reported levels were comparable with the published ones, and Hg always fell below LOQ (0.025 mg kg-1). However, the differentiation process, including the signal filtering used before or after differentiation, can significantly affect the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and likelihood of meaningful inference. The aim of the present study was to compare three methods of deriving the yank-time signal Method 1 derived the yank-time signal using 2nd-order central differentiation subsequent to application of a 4th-order Butterworth filter; Method 2 included the same process as Method 1 but additionally filtered the yank-time data with a Savitzky-Golay smoothing filter; and Method 3 directly and simultaneously derived and smoothed the yank-time signal using a Savitzky-Golay digital differentiation filter. The current analyses revealed Method 2 had the best SNR, followed by Methods 3 and 1, but caused a small loss of signal amplitude. With regards to timing of inflection points in the yank-time data, no significant difference was observed. Therefore, Method 3 led to the best derivation of the yank-time signal due to its efficiency and preservation of signal characteristics and good SNR. Also, a strong association between the first maximum point of the yank-time signal and the start of the downward movement of the body's centre of mass during a countermovement jump, as identified by 3-D motion analysis, was observed. Thus, subtle events (e.g. start of downward movement) can be easily observed in the yank-time signal.Quantification of antimicrobial usage (AMU) is crucial to measure the effect of intervention programs, to determine associations between usage and resistance, to compare populations, and for benchmarking purposes. The primary objective of the study was to describe quantitatively the AMU on Quebec dairy farms over 1 yr (1) the total AMU, (2) the AMU per administration route (intramammary, injectable, oral, intrauterine), and (3) the AMU per antimicrobial class and according to the categorizations of Health Canada and the World Health Organization. The secondary objective was to assess the effect of several characteristics (herd size, level of milk production, and incidence rate of common infectious diseases) on AMU rate. The AMU data were obtained for 101 dairy farms randomly selected in 3 important Quebec dairy regions by collecting and recording all empty drug packaging and invoices for medicated feed (spring 2017 to spring 2018). The AMU rate was reported in number of Canadian defined course doses for cattly critically important antimicrobials. At calving, primiparous cows were mixed with familiar peers in a low-stocked pen (≤33% stocking density; n = 22) or mixed with unknown older cows at 100% stocking density (n = 20). All study cows were mixed with older cows 3 wk after calving. Time spent standing and perching (standing with only the front feet in the stall) were measured d 1 to 3 after calving using 5-min scan sampling. Further studies should evaluate the relationship between the social environment and claw health.In this study, a new vancomycin (Van)-modified poly-l-lysine (PLL) magnetic bead (MB) technique was developed for isolation of gram-positive bacteria. The method combines magnetic separation with a multiplex PCR (mPCR) assay and gel electrophoresis for easy and rapid detection of Bacillus cereus. Vancomycin was used as a molecular ligand between the MB and the d-alanyl-d-alanine moieties on the cell wall surface of B. cereus. The PLL served as a flexible molecular tether between the MB and Van that reduced steric hindrance maintaining the biological activity of Van. The MB-PLL-Van capture nanoprobes exhibited excellent capture and isolation efficiency for B. cereus in spiked milk matrix samples without interference from the complex food matrix. The subsequent mPCR assay showed high specificity for the 4 target genes in B. cereus, the entFM, cesB, cer, and 16S rRNA genes, that were used to achieve efficient genotyping and detection. Under optimum conditions, the limit of detection reached 103 cfu/mL, with a dynamic range of detection at 103 to 107 cfu/mL in pure culture. Application of the MB-PLL-Van mediated mPCR assay for B. cereus in milk matrix samples achieved results similar to those of the pure culture. In addition, with a 6-h pre-enrichment of B. cereus that was spiked in milk matrix samples, the limit of detection reached 101 cfu/mL. The MB-PLL-Van mediated mPCR assay developed in this study could be used as a universal technology platform for the efficient enrichment and genotyping of gram-positive bacteria.Chronic stress can cause psychological diseases and affect male fertility and the reproductive system. Maillard reaction of milk proteins improves their functional and nutritional properties through modification of proteins. Previously, we determined that Maillard reaction product (MRP) from milk casein and MRP fermented (FMRP) with Lactobacillus rhamnosus 4B15 (4B15) had anti-anxiolytic effects in mice under chronic stress. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the effects of MRP and FMRP on chronic stress-induced testicular dysfunction in mice through quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and in situ hybridization analysis. Mice were pretreated with MRP and FMRP for 10 wk; simultaneously, from the third week of the experimental period, they were exposed to unpredictable chronic mild stress (UCMS) for 7 wk. The expression levels of the luteinizing hormone subunit β (Lhb) and follicle-stimulating hormone subunit β (Fshb) were remarkably reduced after exposure to UCMS. However, treatment with MRP and FMRP inhibitetion analysis and the results were consistent with those of qRT-PCR. Consequently, these results indicated that MRP and FMRP, manufactured by the heat treatment of milk casein and fermentation with probiotic 4B15, have the potential to prevent chronic stress-induced testicular dysfunction.This study was conducted to examine the effect of active dry yeast (ADY) supplementation on lactation performance, ruminal fermentation patterns, and CH4 emissions and to determine an optimal ADY dose. Sixty Holstein dairy cows in early lactation (52 ± 1.2 DIM) were used in a randomized complete design. Cows were blocked by parity (2.1 ± 0.2), milk production (35 ± 4.6 kg/d), and body weight (642 ± 53 kg) and assigned to 1 of 4 treatments. Cows were fed ADY at doses of 0, 10, 20, or 30 g/d per head for 91 d, with 84 d for adaptation and 7 d for sampling. Although dry matter intake was not affected by ADY supplementation, the yield of actual milk, 4% fat-corrected milk, milk fat yield, and feed efficiency increased quadratically with increasing ADY supplementation. Yields of milk protein and lactose increased linearly with increasing ADY doses, whereas milk urea nitrogen concentration and somatic cell count decreased quadratically. link3 Ruminal pH and ammonia concentration were not affected by ADY supplementation, whereas ruminal concentration of total volatile fatty acid increased quadratically.
