ect on several key autophagy and apoptotic proteins. Therefore, these observations will provide supportive evidence to ADAMTS9-AS2 as a potential biomarker in patients with bladder tumor.

Our previous study has revealed that T-lymphoma invasion and metastasis-inducing factor 1 (Tiam1) overexpression are significantly associated with aggressive behavior and poor prognosis in patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). However, the influence of Tiam1 in the radioresistance of LSCC and its mechanism have never been elucidated.

Western blotting was used to confirm the relationship between Tiam1 and the JNK/ATF-2 signaling pathway. To explore the specific functions of Tiam1 and JNK/ATF-2 signaling pathway on the proliferation and apoptosis of LSCC after radiation, cloning formation assay and flow cytometry were conducted in vitro, and the experiments on a xenograft mouse model and TUNEL assay were performed in vivo.

Western blotting indicated that Tiam1 can regulate the JNK/ATF-2 signaling pathway through the influence of the activity of JNK and ATF-2. Up-regulation of Tiam1 could promote proliferation and inhibit apoptosis of LSCC after radiation both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, the down-regulation of the JNK/ATF-2 signaling pathway reduced the radioresistance of LSCC caused by Tiam1 up-regulation.

These results suggest that the up-regulation of Tiam1 expression can promote the radioresistance of LSCC through activation of the JNK/ATF-2 signaling pathway.

The STAT3/HIF-1α/VEGF pathway is associated with the development and progress of various tumors including NSCLC. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether resveratrol (RES) could suppress NSCLC progression via inhibiting the expressions of STAT3, HIF-1α, and VEGF in a nude rat model.

Twenty-four nude rats were randomly divided into control, NSCLC, and NSCLC+RES groups. An orthotopic rat model of NSCLC was established. The animals in the NSCLC+RES group received the same operation as the NSCLC group and were intragastrically administered RES at 250 mg/kg/day for 12 weeks. Lung tissue samples were harvested for gross tumor burden measurement, histological examinations, RT-PCR, and Western blot assays.

In the NSCLC+RES group, significant decreases in lung weight index, lung tumor burden, STAT3/HIF-1α/VEGF mRNA, and protein levels were observed when compared with the NSCLC group (all

<0.05). The structural integrity of the lung was less affected and the apoptotic index was significantly higher in the NSCLC+RES group, when compared to the NSCLC group (

<0.05).

RES suppresses NSCLC partly through inhibiting the expressions of STAT3, HIF-1α, and VEGF. The STAT3/HIF-1α/VEGF pathway might be a candidate drug target for developing new chemotherapy agents derived from RES for the treatment of NSCLC.

LncRNA EMX2OS (EMX2 opposite strand/antisense RNA) is notably downregulated in prostate cancer (PCa) tissues and may be regarded as a potential molecular biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis. However, its exact role in regulating the development of PCa is obscure.

The EMX2OS expression was assessed in PCa tissues, paracancer tissues, PCa cells and normal prostate epithelial cells by qPCR. Gain- and loss-of-function experiments were performed to investigate the role of EMX2OS and FUS in cGMP-PKG (cyclic guanosine monophosphate-dependent protein kinase)-mediated proliferation, invasion, and migration in human PCa cell lines DU145 and PC3. Then, the interaction of transcription factor 12 (TCF12) with EMX2OS promoter was confirmed by using the dual-luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays. RNA binding protein immunoprecipitation and RNA pull-down assays were used to verify the interaction between EMX2OS and FUS protein. Finally, the role of EMX2OS and FUS in tumor growth in vivo wationally regulated by TCF12, played a synergy role with FUS protein in regulating the proliferation, migration and invasion of PCa cells by activating the cGMP-PKG pathway.

Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome candidate gene-1 (WHSC1) plays key regulatory roles in cancer development and progression. However, its specific functions and potential mechanisms of action remain to be described in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

WHSC1 expression in HCC was evaluated using The Cancer Genome Atlas and verified in HCC tissues and cell lines using qRT-PCR, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Functional assays were performed to explore the role of WHSC1 in HCC progression. Immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry, co-immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry were conducted to evaluate the interaction between WHSC1 and prolyl 4-hydroxylase subunit beta (P4HB). Pathway enrichment was performed using gene set enrichment analysis.

WHSC1 was markedly overexpressed in HCC tissues and cell lines. The level of expression was strongly associated with adverse clinicopathological characteristics. Survival analyses revealed that WHSC1 upregulation predicted poor overall survival and higher recurrence rates in patients with HCC. Functional studies revealed that WHSC1 significantly stimulated HCC proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro and in vivo. WHSC1 was shown to interact with P4HB to stimulate P4HB expression and subsequently activate mTOR1 signaling.

We determined the oncogenic role of WHSC1 in HCC, via P4HB interaction, which activates mTOR1 signaling, and identified WHSC1 as a promising therapeutic target for HCC.

This study is a part of an effort to determine the challenges faced by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) radiographers towards role extension and advanced practice. It reflects the current practice and challenges facing role extension compared to international advancement. The study aimed to assess the radiographers who worked at mammography screening perception and readiness to accept role extension and advanced practice in mammography.

A cross-sectional descriptive study using an online survey was conducted among radiographers who practice mammography. The survey captured demographics, qualifications, professional education, future development plans, interest in role extension, and incentive to pursue the mammography profession.

Forty-five radiographerswere invitedto participate in the study the response rate was 71% (n=32), 34.4 (11%) were UAE nationals with the remainder being expats. The majority were young between 25 and 45 years old (84.4%), 81.3% hold a BSc qualification. 56.3% completed a post-qualification training specialized mammography certificate. 81% of the participants showed interest in role extension after appropriate education, training, and supervision by radiologists.

This study reports on the perceptions and readiness of radiographers on advanced practice within breast-screening centers. The results show acceptance and support after proper training, clear career pathway, and licensing body recognition. The role of the radiographer in the UAE is still growing.

CoV infection mostly occurs during winter and spring in temperate countries; the virus has high transmission efficiency and may have severe infection outcomes. The recent SARS-CoV-2 outbreak exhibited transboundary transmission due to international transportation, trade, and economic exchange. Animal hosts provide a persistent source for CoVs and their recombination. Domestic camels have been shown to be one of the hosts of CoVs, while livestock, poultry and other warm-blooded animals may act as intermediate hosts for CoVs. This paper outlines the biological and epidemiological characteristics and diagnosis of CoVs and describes the origin, transmission route, animal-source food risk, and control measures for CoVs. Such knowledge can be used to prevent CoVs from harming consumers through animal-sourced foods and can help to prevent new zoonoses from occurring. This work will provide a reference for strengthening the controls on the production process in meat production companies, thereby improving food safety.Musculoskeletal disorder is one of the major health issues and is recognized as the second most common occupational disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate the different aspects of musculoskeletal disorders in operating room personnel. The present study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of MSDs among operating room personnel, in January 2020. In this study, the authors explored 30 articles from five databases including Medline/PubMed, ProQuest, Scopus, Embase, and Google Scholar. The present study found that physical, psychological, and demographic characteristics including age, gender, work experience, and smoking were the most important risk factors for these disorders. Musculoskeletal disorders were also prevalent in different areas of the body, with the highest prevalence being in the lumbar region. In addition, regular exercise and physical activity, the use of stretching and gentle exercise to reduce physical pressure, regard to the principles of ergonomics in the workplace, regular physical examinations, and awareness of the risk factors for these disorders. Therefore, operating room officials need to promote operating room programs focused on reducing musculoskeletal disorders and increase the awareness of the personnel about the risk factors by conducting training courses. The World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic on March 11, 2020 due to its rapid spread on a global scale. More than 118,000 cases had been reported in 114 countries, and mortality had reached a total of 4291. Scholars have suggested that the level of panic is correlated with knowledge and attitude among the population. This review presents a summary of knowledge, attitude, and practice during the COVID-19 pandemic among healthcare workers, medical students, and populations in the US, the UK, Italy, Jordan, and China in April 2020. Analysis reveals that the level of the knowledge was positive in general, and optimistic attitudes and good practices are held. Utility of substantial knowledge and positive attitudes and practices hopefully can control the spread of COVID-19.

The information provided in drug advertisements (DAs) often do not follow the recommended criteria and may promote irrational prescribing behaviors. Recently Health Action International (HAI) formulated detailed criteria to evaluate DAs which further develop and expand on the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. This study was done to evaluate DAs using both criteria.

The study was carried out from October 2019 to January 2020 in the Department of Pharmacology of KIST Medical College, Lalitpur, Nepal. A structured proforma was used to collect data.

Altogether 100 DAs were analyzed. Maximum (85%) were having pictorial presentations. Majority (89%) were found to have authentic information and 3% were found to have exaggerated information. All DAs mentioned generic name, brand name, active drug per dosage form and approved therapeutic uses. Only 4% of DAs mentioned about the adverse effects that can be caused by the use of these medicines. The DAs evaluated as per the HAI criteria for pictures and images showed that people portrayed did not seem to be Nepalese.
