Adherence to regular, thorough skin self-examination (SSE) and consistent sun protection behaviors among melanoma survivors is relatively low. This study reports on the impact of an online intervention, called mySmartSkin (MSS), on engagement in SSE and sun protection behaviors among melanoma survivors, as well as the mediators of the intervention effects. see more The intervention was compared with usual care (UC), and primary outcomes were assessed at 24 and 48 weeks. Beneficial effects of MSS were significantly mediated by knowledge about melanoma and characteristics of suspicious lesions, as well as self-efficacy. Participant engagement in MSS was satisfactory, with approximately two-thirds of participants completing at least two of the three core components. Content was rated as highly trusted, easy to understand, easy to navigate, and helpful. In conclusion, MSS illustrated significant and durable effects on SSE and mixed results on sun protection. Future studies should consider ways to further enhance treatment effects and engagement in MSS.

Prompt notification of critical laboratory values to providers is essential for effective patient care. To improve the delivery of these critical values, a quality improvement project was initiated to determine the obstacles to prompt notification and to identify possible interventions to improve this process.

Critical value call logs were retrieved, and delivery time, patient location, test name, and call time were abstracted and analyzed. All critical values with delivery times greater than 60 min were reviewed by 2 authors for 1 representative month in both the pre- and postintervention period.

The overall rate of calls greater than 60 min decreased from 3.4% ± 0.8% in the preintervention study period to 1.3 ± 0.3%, postintervention. A probabilistic cohort state-transition model was used to conduct an economic evaluation of added-sugar labeling and 13 obesity-associated cancers among 235 million adults aged 20 years or older by age, sex, and race/ethnicity over a median follow-up of 34.4 years. Policy associations were considered in 2 scenarios with consumer behaviors and with additional industry reformulation. The model integrated nationally representative population demographics, diet, and cancer statistics; associations of policy intervention with diet, diet change and body mass index, and body mass index with cancer risk; and policy and health-related costs from established sources. Data were analyzed from January 8, 2019, to May 6, 2020.ng young adults, women, and non-Hispanic Black individuals than other population subgroups.
