Peri- and post-procedural ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a rare complication after leadless pacemaker implantation and requires an individualized approach. In this case report we describe the management of VT in a patient with subendocardial scarring due to prior coronary artery disease who presented with monomorphic VT the day after implant. The etiology was found to be related to the novel ventricular activation wavefront by ventricular pacing which induced a reentrant circuit dependent on pre-existing myocardial substrate. Invasive electrophysiologic study and ablation is a safe and successful treatment strategy in selected patients with evidence of myocardial scarring.Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis (TPP) is a rare but potentially life-threatening entity, which is characterized by sudden onset of muscle weakness and can in exceptional cases be associated with more severe symptoms, such as severe hypokalemia. We present the rare case of a young patient presenting with monomorphic ventricular tachycardia secondary to hypokalemia due to TPP. This case report highlights the importance of recognition of TPP as a rare cause of VT. A high index of suspicion is needed since signs of hyperthyroidism may be subtle. However, early diagnosis is crucial in order to avoid cardiovascular complications and improve outcomes. In our previous studies, we found that as the active gradients of Adonis coerulea, cardenolides and cardiac glycosides presented toxicity against mites by inhibiting Na+-K+-ATPase. In this paper, after evaluating the acaricidal activity of the commercial cardiac aglycones/glycosides, serials of novel strophanthidin derivatives were designed and synthesized with an efficient and simple route under mild conditions, and their toxicity against mites, the cytotoxicity and inhibitory effect on Na+-K+-ATP enzyme in PC12 cells were investigated. Results showed among of all compounds, including 9 commercial agent and 32 synthesized strophanthidin derivatives, QXG-1 presented the strongest toxicity against mites with the LC50 value of 320.0 μg/mL. C-19 group of strophanthidin substituted with glycinemethylester would increase the toxicity against mites, and the hydroxyl group at C-5 play the vital role in terms of the toxicity. At the given concentration, QXG-1 displayed the safety against PC12 (10.0 μg/mL) in vitro and mice (3.2 mg/kg) in acute toxicity test, and strong inhibitory effect on Na+-K+-ATPase. It could be used as a promising acaricidal agent. This study lays the foundation to develop of QXG-1 as a relatively safe and alternative acaricidal agent. We investigated the effects of gastrointestinal nematode (GIN) challenge on activity in first season grazing lambs naturally exposed to two different levels of multispecies GIN infections. Ewes and their twin-born lambs were turned-out to graze in two permanent pasture enclosures naturally contaminated with GIN the previous year, thereby exposing them to overwintering strongyle larvae. Animals in the low parasite exposure group (LP) were dewormed monthly with 0.2 mg ivermectin (Ivomec® vet, oral suspension) per kg body weight, whereas those in high parasite exposure group (HP) were left untreated. At weaning, lambs were allocated to one out of four groups based on weight and sex (HPE, n = 15; HPR, n = 15; LPE, n = 14; LPR, n = 14), in four nearby non-contaminated ley enclosures of similar size. Activity patterns were monitored from day -7, i.e. 7 days pre-weaning, until day 49, i.e. 49 days post-weaning, by fitting all lambs with IceQube sensors (IceRobotics). Body weight was monitored weekly from day -21, wh with Teladorsagia spp., combined with low proportions of Haemonchus spp. In conclusion, this study shows that lying time and Motion Index of lambs around weaning was affected by moderate nematode infections. This indicates that there is a potential use of automated behaviour recordings as a diagnostic tool for detection of nematode parasites in lambs even at moderate infection levels.Studies often rely on home locations to access built environment (BE) influences on physical activity (PA). We use GPS and accelerometer data collected for 288 individuals over a two-week period to examine eight GPS-derived BE characteristics and moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) and light-to-moderate-vigorous PA (LMVPA). NDVI, parks, blue space, pedestrian-orientated intersections, and population density were associated with increased odds of LMVPA and MVPA, while traffic air pollution and noise were associated with decreased odds of LMVPA and MVPA. Associations varied by population density and when accounting for multiple BE measures. These findings provide further information on where individuals choose to be physically active. This paper examines the association between the frequency of use of urban green spaces (UGS) and the subjective well-being (SWB) of Mexico City's residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. We conducted an online survey (N = 1954) regarding individuals' perceptions and use of UGS and their SWB, evaluated through the short version of the Warwick-Edinburgh mental well-being scale. Multilevel mixed-effects regression analyses were performed to investigate the association between the frequency of UGS use and SWB, including individual and municipal level characteristics as covariates. Our results suggest that respondents who used UGS once or more per week during the pandemic reported higher SWB scores (8.7%) than those with zero visits. These findings have public policy implications that could enhance the role of UGS in urban environments during times of crisis.Mitochondria are pivotal energy production sources for cells to maintain necessary metabolism activities. Targeting dysfunctional mitochondrial features has been a hotspot for mitochondrial-related disease researches. Investigation with cancerous mitochondrial metabolism is a continuing concern within tumor therapy. Herein, we set out to assess the anti-cancer activities of a novel family of TPP-thiazole derivatives based on our earlier research on mitochondrial targeting agents. Specifically, we designed and synthesized a series of TPP-thiazole derivatives and revealed by the MTT assay that most synthesized compounds effectively inhibited three cancer cell lines (HeLa, PC3 and MCF-7). After structure modifications, we explored the SAR relationships and identified the most promising compound R13 (IC50 of 5.52 μM) for further investigation. In the meantime, we performed ATP production assay to assess the selected compounds inhibitory effect on HeLa cells energy production. PF-4708671 concentration The results displayed the test compounds significantly restrained ATP production of cancer cells. Overall, we have designed and synthesized a series of compounds which exhibited significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells and effectively inhibited mitochondrial energy production.During cryopreservation sperm encounter oxidative stress due to higher production of ROS molecules and insufficient natural antioxidant defence system. Therefore, present study was designed to identify the effects of various glutathione (GSH) concentrations on Indian red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus murghi) sperm quality and fertility pre-freezing and post-thaw incubation hours. Semen was collected from eight cocks and qualified semen ejaculates having motility >65% were pooled after initial evaluation. Semen was divided in four aliquots, diluted with red fowl extender (15) at 37 °C having GSH 0 mM (control), 0.1 mM, 0.5 mM and 1.0 mM, cryopreserved and stored at (-196 °C) in liquid nitrogen. Semen quality was assessed at post dilution, cooling, equilibration, and freeze-thawing at 0, 2 and 4 h of incubation at 37 °C. Sperm motility, plasma membrane integrity, viability, acrosome integrity and mitochondrial function were recorded highest (P less then 0.05) with 0.5 mM GSH in extender at post-dilution, cooling, equilibration, freeze-thawing and 0, 2 and 4 h of incubation. Lipid peroxidation in sperm and seminal plasma were recorded lowest (P less then 0.05) with 0.5 mM GSH during cryopreservation stages and post-thawing incubation. Moreover, antioxidant activities (total antioxidant potential and free radical scavenging capacity) were recorded highest (P less then 0.05) in extender having 0.5 mM GSH. Fertility rates were recorded higher (P less then 0.05) with 0.5 mM GSH compared to control. It is concluded that 0.5 mM GSH in extender improves sperm structural (sperm viability, plasma membrane integrity and acrosome integrity), functional integrity (motility, mitochondrial function) and fertility parameters of Indian red jungle fowl through enriching antioxidant potential and ameliorating the oxidative stress.Because of availability and low radiation dose level, low dose computed tomography (CT) is now commonly used to identify illicit in corpore drug transportation. This review illustrates the most common CT findings of in corpore drug transportation and describes complications due to in corpore drug transportation, with a special emphasis on low dose CT. Major information such as number of packets, exact location and aspect of packets must be assessed. Radiologist must be aware of the imaging characteristics of "in corpore" illicit drug transportation, and should know situations that may alter drug smugglers management.

Effective pain management is the key to improving not only patient outcomes but also patient satisfaction. Patient controlled analgesia (PCA) is a pain management method that allows the patient to self-administer their medication. Because of the great variety of physical and cognitive abilities in the pediatric population, involvement of a nurse or parent proxy is necessary.

The purpose of this study was to ascertain the most effective approaches to PCA in pediatric settings.

Criteria for articles selection were as follows (a) published in a peer-review journal, (b) between 2014 and 2019, (c) in English, (d) directly addressing the issues of safety and efficacy of patient-controlled analgesia by proxy in the pediatric patient population.

Databases used in the search included CINAHL Plus with Full Text, DynaMed, MedLine with Full Text, and ScienceDirect. Combinations of the following keywords were used to search each database "nurse controlled analgesia", "parent controlled analgesia", "patient controlren with cancer, both inpatient and outpatient, and new technologies could positively influence the safety of this method of pain management. Conversely, children with developmental and neurological disabilities do not benefit from this method of pain management and are more prone to experiencing adverse effects.

PCA by proxy, although presenting challenges, remains a safe and efficient way of pain management across different pediatric populations, such as infants and neonates or children with cancer, both inpatient and outpatient, and new technologies could positively influence the safety of this method of pain management. Conversely, children with developmental and neurological disabilities do not benefit from this method of pain management and are more prone to experiencing adverse effects.

Sexual violence is a serious global health problem with short- and long-term physical, mental, and reproductive adverse effects. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and factors associated with sexual violence among women of reproductive age in rural Uganda.

This was a cross-sectional study based on the Uganda Demographic and Health Survey (UDHS) 2016 data.

UDHS 2016 data for 5259 rural women aged 15-49 years were used in this study. Multistage stratified sampling was used to select participants, and data were collected using validated questionnaires. Multivariable logistic regression was used to determine factors associated with sexual violence. All analyses we carried out in SPSS (version 25).

The overall prevalence of sexual violence among rural women was 24.3% (95% confidence interval [CI] 23.4-25.7) compared with 18.4% (95% CI 17.0-20.7) among urban women. Rural women who had received only primary education had higher odds of sexual violence compared with those who had received tertiary education (adjusted odds ratio [AOR]=3.
