Lymphoedema is a disorder of the lymphatic system that presents as an atypical swelling and accumulation of protein-rich fluid within the interstitial spaces. Head and neck lymphoedema (HNL) is highly prevalent in patients who have been treated for head and neck cancer (HNC) and may manifest externally on the face and neck; internally within the oral cavity, pharynx or larynx; or as a combination of both. HNL is known to contribute to a wide range of physical, functional and psychological issues, and presents several unique challenges in terms of its management. This review article provides an overview of HNL for clinicians and aims to improve awareness of this condition and the impact it has on patients.During the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, lymphoedema and community clinicians have had to modify how they implement intensive treatments for patients with lymphoedema and chronic oedema. Using novel approaches to treat and move patients towards self-management regimes has enabled patients to be in control of their condition, particularly if they are unable to attend normal clinic appointments. This article explores how using Haddenham easywrap instead of time- and resource-intensive bandaging regimes, alongside the Haddenham LymphFlow Advance, as part of self-management programmes, can benefit patients' quality of life, reduce costs and resource use and enable patients to self-manage this long-term chronic condition more effectively.The widespread availability of high-performance computing and the popularity of artificial intelligence (AI) with machine learning and deep learning (ML/DL) algorithms at the helm have stimulated the development of many applications involving the use of AI-based techniques in molecular imaging research. Applications reported in the literature encompass various areas, including innovative design concepts in positron emission tomography (PET) instrumentation, quantitative image reconstruction and analysis techniques, computer-aided detection and diagnosis, as well as modeling and prediction of outcomes. This review reflects the tremendous interest in quantitative molecular imaging using ML/DL techniques during the past decade, ranging from the basic principles of ML/DL techniques to the various steps required for obtaining quantitatively accurate PET data, including algorithms used to denoise or correct for physical degrading factors as well as to quantify tracer uptake and metabolic tumor volume for treatment monitoring or radiation therapy treatment planning and response prediction. This review also addresses future opportunities and current challenges facing the adoption of ML/DL approaches and their role in multimodality imaging. The pathogen was sampled during 2017 to 2019 in all regions with sizable durum wheat (Triticum durum) growing areas from winter (North Caucasus) and spring (Middle Volga, Ural, and West Siberia) wheat. A total of 474 isolates were tested on a set of 20 Lr-gene lines. Molecular genotypes for 105 selected isolates were determined at 11 SSR loci. Variable virulence/avirulence reaction was observed only on three Lr-gene lines, whereas just five SSR loci were polymorphic with two alleles at each. Seven different virulence phenotypes and 11 SSR genotypes were found among 474 and 105 isolates, respectively, indicating a very low variability of the pathogen. One virulence phenotype and three SSR genotypes occurred in all Russian regions. However, two phenotypes were specific to the European regions of Russia (North Caucasus and Middle Volga), while another two were found only in the Asian part of Russia (Ural and West Siberia). Significant differentiation between six populations of P. triticina from durum wheat in the Asian and European (mainly North Caucasus) regions was also shown with numerous metrics and approaches for data with and without clone correction. Relationships among the regional populations of P. triticina from durum wheat established with virulence phenotypes significantly associated with those for SSR genotypes and was similar to the relationships among the regional populations of the pathogen from common wheat.Previous studies have demonstrated that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs12427129 and rs3816153 in HOX transcript antisense intergenic RNA (HOTAIR) might interact with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection to increase the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, it is unclear whether HBV infection is a potential mediator between HOTAIR rs12427129, rs3816153, and HCC. This study, including 1262 HCC cases and 1559 controls, aimed to use a four-way decomposition method to quantify the interaction and mediation effects of HBV infection in the association between rs12427129, rs3816153, and HCC.
