To analyze patient safety culture in the different spheres of management in the perspective of the nursing team providing services in surgical centers.

Cross-sectional study with 200 nursing professionals, in three surgical centers of Piauí state - one municipal, one federal, and one state - from January to August 2016 through the application of the instrument Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture.

The first surgical center did not present a strengthened patient safety culture; the others presented the dimension "Organizational learning - continuous improvement" (80.6%/75.6%) and "Frequency of reported events" (76.2%) as strengthened areas. In the first, the safety score "average" was prevalent, whereas participants of the second and third judged patient safety as "very good". Most participants of the three surgical centers (80.0%) reported no adverse event in the previous 12 months.

The state and federal surgical centers obtained the best patient safety scores when compared to the municipal surgical center. Therefore, for a more effective and safe care, the strengthened dimensions in each type of management should be enhanced and the weakened ones should be improved.

To understand the epidemiological and clinical profile of snakebite victims in a public teaching hospital.

Exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach conducted in a public hospital in the Triângulo Sul region of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The data were collected from medical records and compulsory case report forms of patients admitted in the Emergency Service from June 2018 to May 2019. The data were descriptively analyzed and presented in tables.

The 137 patients were predominantly male (74.5%), rural workers (33.4%), in their working age (mean of 43.49 years), and in rural areas (87.6%). Bothrops was the most common genus (70.8%), and most occurrences were classified as mild (53.3%). The most performed treatment was snake antivenom administration (73%).

Snakebite victims were mostly men in their working age and rural workers. BTK inhibitors high throughput screening Bothrops bites and mild occurrences were prevalent. Most treatments employed the appropriate snake antivenom. These occurred mostly in rural areas. The prevalent bitten body parts were feet, legs, and hands. Care was provided in less than six hours.

To determine the level of satisfaction with childbirth and the postpartum period.

This is a longitudinal, observational study. Clinical variables of the patients and delivery were collected, and a descriptive and inferential analysis was performed. The validated state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) and the satisfaction survey Care in Obstetrics Measure For Testing Satisfaction Scale (COMFORTS) in Spanish were used.

A total of 381 women was included in the study and grouped into satisfied vs. dissatisfied (94.54% vs. 5.46%). Women having given birth by eutocic delivery (p = 0.005), as well as those who had skin-to-skin time with their newborn (p = 0.012) after delivery, report more satisfaction. Mothers who were separated from their babies reported being less satisfied (p = 0.004), as did those who did not meet the expectations raised in the birth plan (p = 0.013). All the women with minimal anxiety are satisfied (p = 0.004), the same happening for those showing postpartum anxiety (p <0.001).

The percentage of satisfied women is high; it is necessary to monitor childbirth and postpartum care, promoting good practices in childbirth care, as well as in women's emotional well-being.

To evaluate the functional capacity of women with breast neoplasm undergoing palliative chemotherapy.

Cross-sectional study with an analysis of medical records of women with breast cancer undergoing palliative chemotherapy.

Out of one hundred evaluated records, most registered 50 years or older (66%), primary education (53%), an income of 1 to 2 minimum wages (87%), invasive ductal carcinoma (95%), positive hormone receptor (64%), and histological grade 1 and 2 (57%). Performance status 0 (49%), 1 (39%), and 2 (12%) were prevalent; these imply, respectively, active patients, with mild and moderate activity restriction. One to four chemotherapy schemes were associated with the inappetence (p =0.00) and weight loss (p =0.001) symptoms. The main complications were neuropathy (31%), medullary compression syndrome (21%), neutropenia (9%), and death (28%).

Out of the analyzed women, 88% presented functional capacity 0 and 1, had no or mild restriction of daily activities, were multiply treated, and manifested manageable symptoms. Others, however, presented moderate to severe clinical complications during the treatment, progressing to exclusive palliative care or death.

To verify the prevalence of burnout and its relationship with the academic satisfaction of nursing students in traditional and integrated curricula.

Quantitative, observational, cross-sectional, and analytical descriptive study with nursing undergraduates in two public universities. The data were collected in the classroom through a characterization survey, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and the Nursing Student Satisfaction Scale, and analyzed through inferential and descriptive statistics.

The participants included 301 undergraduate students. The prevalence of burnout in the traditional curriculum was 30.2%; in the integrated one, this was 16.2%. Academic efficacy (p=0.004), satisfaction with curriculum and teaching (p=0.011), and professional and social integration (p<0.001) were higher for students in the integrated curriculum. Satisfaction with the educational environment was higher in the traditional curriculum (p=0.012). Burnout was statistically associated with low academic satisfaction in all dimensions.

The prevalence of burnout has differed significantly among students in the analyzed curriculum models and is directly associated with academic satisfaction or lack thereof. Educators should develop preventive actions against burnout in future nurses focusing on the promotion of academic satisfaction.

All 24 samples were collected and analyzed for detecting macrocysts and macroscopic lesions. Subsequently, subdivided for direct examination, polymerase chain reaction and histopathological examination. All sheep tissues samples had grossly white round to oval tissue cysts, ranging from 0.3 to 1 cm in diameter. In contrast, cattle tissues did not present grossly visible cysts but had randomly distributed white-yellow foci with irregular contours. All samples from cattle and sheep had microscopic cysts. In the histological examination of sheep tissues, circular to elongated, encapsulated, basophilic structures ranging from 30 to 3,000 µm in length and 20 to 1,000 µm in width were observed within the skeletal muscle fibers. In cattle tissues, all cardiac muscle four fragments analyzed contained circular to elongated basophilic structures inside cardiomyocytes and in some Purkinje fibers. PCR were performed using the primers 2L and 3H. In conclusion, all 24 tissues were infected with Sarcocystis spp., and S. gigantea (in sheep) and S. cruzi (in cattle). were the identified species by sequencing.

to describe the sociodemographic and health characteristics of elderly people, measure the score of total resilience and by sex and verify the association of sociodemographic and health variables with total resilience and by sex.

this is a household survey with 808 elderly people, assessed by validated instruments. Student's t test and multiple linear regression (p<0.05).

most were female, 60|-|79 years old. The total resilience score was 78.06, for men 81.53 and for women, 76.32. Total resilience was associated with males; positive self-perceived health; greater participation in Advanced Activities of Daily Living; fewer morbidities; absence of depressive symptoms. Among men and women, resilience was associated with greater participation in Advanced Activities of Daily Living and absence of depressive symptoms and, specifically, among women, positive self-perceived health.

these results contribute to nursing care, aiming to encourage resilience.

To assess the quality of triatomine identification in the laboratory network of the state of Pernambuco, Brazil.

The participating laboratories received support material with dichotomous keys and a panel made up of seven triatomine insects known in the Pernambuco, in order to identify specimen status on receipt (intact or damaged structure), as well as species and sex.

Nine out of 12 laboratories took part of the study. The proportion of correct answers was 56/63 for sex identification, and 45/63, for species. The answers did not present a direct relationship with occurrence of damage to morphological structures during insect transportation. Panstrongylus megistus identification was correct for all specimens (9/9 laboratories), while correct identification of species of the Rhodnius genus was the lowest (3/9 laboratories).

Despite the good performance in entomological identification, the weaknesses observed may guide improvements in the laboratory network and will be essential for Chagas disease vector control programs.
