The Ohio Department of Health identified dental care as the number one unmet health need for Ohio's children. The purpose was to conduct an outcome evaluation of the Dental HOME Coach Program and to compare the outcomes before (2010-2014) and after (2015-2019) the incorporation of the new Dental HOME Coach.

Using a longitudinal outcome evaluation research design, the data were analyzed from 10 years of the Dental HOME Coach Program at the Ohio State University (OSU) College of Dentistry during the academic years ending in 2010-2019.

A total of 1063 dental students provided dental care to 26469 children in the Columbus City Schools. The top 3 performed procedures were sealants, prophylaxis, and resin composite fillings. Despite significant increases in the number of dental students providing oral health care, there were significant decreases in the number of amalgam fillings and stainless-steel crowns from before to after the incorporation of the new Dental HOME Coach.

Recent studies have nonetheless shown that Fsp1 is also expressed by other cell types, including small subsets of endothelial cells. Since no detailed and systematic description of Fsp1 spatio-temporal expression pattern in cardiac vascular cells is available in the literature, we have used a transgenic murine line (Fsp1-GFP) to study Fsp1 expression in the developing and postnatal cardiac vasculature and endocardium. Our work shows that Fsp1 is expressed in the endocardium and mesenchyme of atrioventricular valve primordia, as well as in some coronary venous and lymphatic endothelial cells. Fsp1 expression in cardiac venous and lymphatic endothelium is progressively restricted to the leaflets of cardiac venous and lymphatic valves. Our results suggest that Fsp1 could play a role in the development of atrioventricular valves and participate in the patterning and morphogenesis of cardiac venous and lymphatic vessel valves.An increasing number of publications have brought attention to COVID-19-associated cutaneous lesions. The food that people and animals consume leaves microscopic traces on teeth in predictable ways, and analyses of these markings-known as dental microwear analyses-allow us to reverse engineer the characteristics of diet. However, the microwear features of modern human diets are most often interpreted through the lens of ethnographic records. Given the subtle variation within human diets when compared to other species, we need better models of how foods and processing techniques produce marks on teeth. Here, we report on the second study to target the occlusal surface microwear of living human populations, and the first to target populations other than foragers.

We collected 150 dental impressions from five Kenyan communities El Molo, Turkana (Kerio), Luhya (Webuye), Luhya (Port Victoria), and Luo (Port Victoria), representing a range of subsistence strategies and associated staple diets-fishing, pastoralism, and agriculture. Our results suggest that the occlusal microwear of these groups records differences in diet. However, biofilm obscured most of the molds obtained despite the steps taken to remove it, resulting in only 38 usable surfaces.

Due to the biofilm problem and final sample size, the analysis did not have enough power to demonstrate the differences observed statistically. The results and problems encountered are here explained.

We encountered a case of a poorly differentiated chordoma with evidence of whole-genome doubling arising from a SMARCB1-deficient conventional chordoma. The tumor presented as a destructive sacral mass in a 43-year-old man and was comprised of a highly cellular poorly differentiated chordoma with small, morphologically distinct nodules of conventional chordoma accounting for less then 5% of the total tumor volume. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) revealed both components were strongly reactive for brachyury and lacked normal staining for INI1. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array analysis identified multiple genomic imbalances in the conventional component, including deletions of 1p, 3p, and 22q (involving SMARCB1) and loss of chromosomes 5 and 15, while the poorly differentiated component exhibited the same aberrations at a more profound level with additional loss of chromosome 4, low level focal deletion of 17p (involving TP53), and tetraploidy. Homozygous deletion of SMARCB1 was present in both components. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis confirmed the relevant deletions in both components as well as genome doubling in the poorly differentiated tumor. This case suggests that SMARCB1 loss is an early event in rare conventional chordomas that could potentially evolve into poorly differentiated chordoma through additional genomic aberrations such as genome doubling. Further studies with additional patients will be needed to determine if genome doubling is a consistent pathway for evolution of poorly differentiated chordoma.

Cognitive behavioural analysis system of psychotherapy (CBASP) is an effective individual treatment for persistent depressive disorder (PDD), but evidence on group treatment (Group-CBASP) is limited. Our aim was to review the effect of Group-CBASP on self-report depression severity in outpatients with PDD, overall and by age of depression-onset.

A retrospective chart review study (November 2011-March 2017) in 54 patients with PDD (29 late-onset, 25 early-onset). Patients were previously treated by pharmacotherapy (92.6%), psychotherapy (98.1%) and/or electroconvulsive therapy (11.1%). Group-CBASP involved 24 weekly sessions during 6months, followed by individual appointments over 6months. The Inventory of Depressive Symptoms -self rating(IDS-SR) was used at baseline and after 3, 6, 9 and 12months, computing mean differences and response rates.

The mean IDS-SR score decreased significantly from 39.83 at baseline to 33.78 at 6months a decrease from severe to moderate depression after 24weeks of Group-CBASs needed to improve patient assignment for Group-CBASP.

Group-CBASP seems to be a good alternative for CBASP in individual setting. Patients with late age of depression-onset seem to benefit more from Group-CBASP. This study shows that clinical relevant effects of Group-CBASP, followed by individual contacts, remain at least for 6 months. Research on personalizing treatment strategies is needed to improve patient assignment for Group-CBASP.A new species of the sand-dwelling catfish genus Ammoglanis is described from a marginal habitat of the lower Atabapo River, a left-bank blackwater tributary of the upper Orinoco River in Amazonas, Venezuela, adjacent to the border with Colombia. Ammoglanis natgeorum is distinguished from all congeners by trunk pigmentation pattern consisting of scattered ventral chromatophores concentrated around the anal-fin base and numerous additional meristic and anatomical characteristics. A. natgeorum is the second species of Ammoglanis described from the Orinoco River basin after Ammoglanis pulex, and several shared character states (e.g., eight total dorsal-fin rays, overall coloration pattern and presence of two finger-like papillae posterior to chin) suggest that it is more closely related to Ammoglanis obliquus (from the central Amazon basin) and A. pulex than to other congeners.

Agenesis of the ductus venosus (ADV) has been associated with additional anomalies in up to 83% of cases. We sought to investigate characteristics, co-morbidities and outcomes of ADV in the current era. We hypothesized that rates of cardiac and non-cardiac diagnoses and survival would be higher, due to advances in genetic testing, prenatal diagnosis and surveillance.

A retrospective series of cases diagnosed at our institution from 2007 to 2018 were identified by searching our database. Cardiac and obstetric charts were reviewed for cardiac and extra-cardiac anomalies, genetic results and outcomes.

Fourteen cases were diagnosed at a mean gestational age of 23.9 weeks (range 13-33). All had associated genetic, cardiac or extra-cardiac anomalies. Eight (57%) had cardiac anomalies and one other developed cardiomyopathy by 6 months. Extra-cardiac anomalies were present in 93% (13/14) and genetic diagnoses made in 75% (6/8) of those tested. Cardiac output Z-scores were >2 in 60% (6/10) prior to delivery. Two had hydrops, there was one intra-uterine death, 13 live-births and two neonatal deaths.

Benthic invertebrates, particularly insects, are key taxa for freshwater bioassessment. Nevertheless, few studies have so far assessed markers for metabarcoding of freshwater macrobenthos. Here we combined in silico and laboratory analyses to test the performance of different markers amplifying regions in the 18S rDNA (Euka02), 16S rDNA (Inse01) and COI (BF1_BR2-COI) genes, and developed an extensive database of benthic macroinvertebrates of France and Europe, with a particular focus on key insect orders (Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera and Trichoptera).
