The aim of this study was to identify the effectiveness of peer-assisted learning while giving presentation on assigned anatomy topics in class by medical students for enhancement of their learning and communication skills. Sixty top performing students were selected for the study. They were given assigned topics related to anatomy to be presented in the class after taking their consent. The duration of the study was 32 weeks. At the completion of the projects by the students, each of them was interviewed for three to five minutes; the questions were very precise and few in number and were then analysed. Focus group discussions were conducted from the rest of the class who were the audience and enjoyed the activity. The study showed that by conducting such an activity among medical students their knowledge about the subject, communication and teaching skills and confidence are enhanced. It is a fun activity for them and can be added in the routine timetable for its beneficial outcomes. The aim of this study was to determine if suicidal and non-suicidal self-injury can be predicted by the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and if non-suicidal self-injury predicts suicidality in young adult females. In this cross-sectional study, 150 undergraduate females (mean age 20.47±3.17) were conveniently sampled and assessed on McLean Screening Instrument for Borderline Personality Disorder, Suicidal Behaviour Questionnaire-Revised, and the Inventory of Statements about Self-injury. Borderline Personality features significantly predicted suicidal ideation and behaviour (b=.383, p less then .001) and non-suicidal self-injury (b.282, p less then .01). Likewise, non-suicidal self-injury was positively associated with suicidality (r =.330, p less then .01). Even sub-threshold BPD features in a non-clinical population may be predictive of suicidal and non-suicidal self-injury. Future research should be based on the management and interventional strategies for tested constructs. Further, screening measures need to be introduced to better detect population at risk of subclinical BPD, suicidal ideation and self-injury.Pakistan is one of the only three countries in the world with an enduring poliovirus transmission, making poliomyelitis an important health concern for Pakistan. Paralytic scoliosis is a common musculoskeletal dysfunction associated with poliomyelitis. To determine the occurrence of paralytic scoliosis a cross-sectional study was conducted at Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi from 2015 to 2018. All patients with poliomyelitis reporting to the hospital were included, whereas patients with scoliosis but no poliomyelitis were excluded. Cobb's angle was used to determine the severity of scoliotic curves. Pearson correlation was used to determine the correlation of Cobb's angle with age and Independent T-test was used to determine the difference in terms of gender. Confidence interval was kept at 95%. A total of 51 patients with poliomyelitis were included in the study with a mean age of 28.58±15.07 years. The overall occurrence of scoliosis was found to be 60.8% with mean Cobb's angle of 23.35o±7.40o, and risk of developing paralytic scoliosis in males was 0.90 times the risk in females. DMX-5084 No significant correlation (p=0.833) was observed between age and Cobb's angle. No significant difference (p=0.72) was observed among males and females in relation to Cobb's angle.Creativity and innovation are essential life skills in the 21st century. These skills are even more important in the healthcare sector of a resource limited country like Pakistan. The narrative review was planned to examine published research on child malnutrition, factors associated with malnutrition, gender discrimination regarding nutrition and their related outcomes. Studies included were those based on data related to child malnutrition in Pakistan. Total 12 articles from the preceding five years were reviewed to assess the nutritional status prevailing in Pakistan. Most of the studies used the World Health Organisation z-scores for the assessment of stunting and wasting. Majority of the studies had a cross-sectional design. Other studies conducted in South Asian countries were also used to make a comparison and to see if the prevalence of child malnutrition and the factors associated with malnutrition were the same as in Pakistan or not. It was concluded that maternal health and maternal education were the most important factors for enhancing the probability of child malnutrition. No gender difference existed in terms of child malnutrition. Economic conditions and financial status of the family played an important role in child malnutrition. The performance of healthcare professionals is now becoming a great apprehension for health care organizations to deliver quality services.
