Climate change will reshape ecological dynamics. Yet, how temperature increases alter the behavior and resource use of people reliant on natural resources remains underexplored. Consequent behavior shifts have the potential to mitigate or accelerate climate impacts on livelihoods and food security. Particularly within the small-scale inland fisheries that support approximately 10% of the global population, temperature changes likely affect both fish and fishers. To analyze how changing temperatures alter households' fishing behavior, we examined fishing effort and fish catch in a major inland fishery. We used longitudinal observational data from households in Cambodia, which has the highest per-capita consumption of inland fish in the world. Higher temperatures caused households to reduce their participation in fishing but had limited net effects on fish catch. Incorporating human behavioral responses to changing environmental conditions will be fundamental to determining how climate change affects rural livelihoods, food production, and food access.In a phase II trial, responses were seen in 24% of patients with advanced or metastatic cervical cancer.The bone microenvironment induced metastatic cancer cells to further disseminate to other organs.The objective response rate was 25% in 55 patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).The "immunocytokine" PD1-IL2v, a fusion of a PD-1 antibody and modified IL2, may circumvent some side effects of the decades-old recombinant IL2 therapy aldesleukin while also enhancing efficacy. There has been little research into the prehospital management of cardiac arrest following hanging despite it being among the most prevalent methods of suicide worldwide. The aim of this study was to report the characteristics, resuscitative treatment and outcomes of patients managed in the prehospital environment for cardiac arrest secondary to hanging and compare these with all-cause out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
Data from a UK ambulance service cardiac arrest registry were extracted for all cases in which treatment was provided for OHCA due to hanging between 1 January 2013 and 30 June 2018. Cases were linked to outcome data obtained from the Trauma Audit and Research Network. Comparison of the cohort was made to previously published data from a UK study of all-cause OHCA with 95% CIs calculated for the proportional difference between the studies in selected presentation and outcome variables.

Because the potential cardiac complications of COVID-19 were unknown at the time of her presentation, we chose to avoid the potential risks of haemodynamic collapse associated with afterload reduction from adenosine. Instead, a transoesophageal pacing catheter was placed. Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) with an aberrated QRS morphology was diagnosed and the catheter was used to pace-terminate tachycardia. This presentation illustrates that the haemodynamic consequences of a concurrent infection with largely unknown neonatal sequelae present a potentially high-risk situation for pharmacologic conversion. Oesophageal cannulation can be used to diagnose and terminate infantile SVT.Cytomegalovirus (CMV) can cause recalcitrant recurrent keratouveitis and secondary glaucoma. We report a case of chronic recurrent anterior uveitis with secondary glaucoma presenting with acute visual loss and interface fluid 9 years after laser in situ keratomileusis. Based on clinical presentation, a viral aetiology was suspected. Aqueous tap was positive for CMV-DNA by real-time quantitative PCR of the aqueous humour. The patient was treated with systemic antivirals, topical corticosteroids and antiglaucoma medications. The interface fluid resorbed rapidly. The intraocular pressure (IOP) was controlled by trabeculectomy. There was no further corneal deterioration at 7-month follow-up and the IOP had also stabilised. We believe this is only the third reported case of CMV-related interface fluid syndrome. This case highlights the role of quantitative PCR analysis for establishing viral aetiology in recurrent unilateral hypertensive anterior uveitis and reports the unusual finding of interface fluid which resolved after starting systemic antiviral therapy.Controversy continues about the significance of fomite transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Recent papers continue to advocate concern. However, designs of studies showing virus survival on surfaces under laboratory conditions are unsuitable for extrapolation to real life. Although viral RNA is frequently found on real-life surfaces, actual tests for infectious virus are almost entirely negative, even in hospitals with COVID-19 patients. Fomite transmission should be regarded as no more than a very minor component of this pandemic.The present study investigated the impact of on-farm anaerobic digestion on the abundance of enteric bacteria, antibiotic resistance-associated gene targets, and the horizontal transfer potential of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) genes. Samples of raw and digested manure were obtained from six commercial dairy farms in Ontario, Canada. Digestion significantly abated populations of viable coliforms in all six farms.
