violifolia. The downregulation of cysteine-rich kinases and calcium proteins would enhance Se tolerance of C. violifolia is a novel proposition that has not been reported on other Se hyperaccumulators. This study provides us novel insights to understand Se accumulation and tolerance in plants.3-Monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD), 2,3-epoxy-1-propanol (glycidol), and their esters are well-known food contaminants mainly formed by the heat processing of certain refined oils and coexist in various kinds of foodstuffs. However, the combined health effect and the underlying mechanism of 3-MCPD and glycidol coexposure are not well-understood. In this study, we investigated the systemic toxicity effects and the nephrotoxicity mechanisms of 3-MCPD and glycidol coexposure with in vitro and in vivo models, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis. It was found that 3-MCPD and glycidol coexposure for 28 days synergistically induced toxicity in the kidney, lung, testis, and heart in C57BL/6 mice. Kidney was the most sensitive organ to coexposure, and the coexposure had a synergistic effect on inflammation and cytotoxicity through activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, and the induction of necroptosis, and autophagic cell death in NRK-52E cells. Moreover, the NGS results revealed the genes changes associated with nephrotoxicity, inflammation and with the broad toxicity effects induced by 3-MCPD or glycidol alone or in combination, which were consistent with the results of in vitro and in vivo models. In summary, we report for the first time of the comprehensive toxicity effects and the mechanisms caused by 3-MCPD and glycidol coexposure.Due to the blooming development of nanotechnology, the further understanding of nanomaterials-induced toxicity has been demanded. Following their introduction into a biological matrix, the surface of nanoparticles (NPs) is covered by protein layer, namely corona, which imparts a new biological identity to NPs. Here, we showed that fibrinogen (Fg), but not albumin (BSA) or hemoglobin (Hb), decoration on the surface of silica nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs) ameliorate their pro-autophagic activity in non-phagocytic cells. Surprisingly, this effect of Fg was compromised in phagocytic cells. Further mechanistic investigation suggested coronal Fg has dual effects on the tuning of SiO2 NPs-induced autophagic response. First, Fg decoration blocks SiO2 NPs sedimentation through stabilize SiO2 NPs suspension; secondly, Fg coverage inhibits SiO2 NPs' cellular internalization. These findings provided important insights into the understanding of NPs-corona complexes behaviors and indicate future directions for the investigation of corona-mediated biological activities.Charcot Marie Tooth disease (CMT) is a progressive motor and sensory polyneuropathy, it is characterized by a very heterogeneous molecular basis and phenotype. MFN2 and GDAP1 participate in mitochondrial energy metabolism and the rare coinheritance of its pathogenic variants has been associated with a cumulative effect in the observed phenotype. We describe a patient with a severe axonal CMT and inherited heterozygous MFN2 (p.Leu741Val) and GDAP1 (p.Gln163*) variants. In accordance with a possible digenic inheritance, none of the heterozygous carriers in his family were symptomatic or exhibited electrophysiological abnormalities. We also review all of the previously reported patients with coinheritance of variants in these two genes; similar to our patient, all exhibit a predominantly axonal severe CMT phenotype. Our findings expand the genotypic spectrum of CMT and further support that digenic inheritance should be considered for analyzing and counseling CMT patients.

Pressure ulcer development is a known indicator of the quality of care. Negative attitudes towards the prevention of pressure ulcers can lead to preventive care with suboptimal quality. There is no valid and reliable instrument in Iran to assess clinicians' attitudes towards pressure ulcer prevention; therefore, this study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Attitude towards Pressure ulcer Prevention instrument (APuP) in Nurses.

In this cross-sectional study, 250 nurses were selected using a convenience sampling method. Face, content, and construct validity were examined using exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Internal consistency was assessed using the McDonald's omega (ω), and reliability was assessed using the test-retest method.

In the EFA, five factors of Competence, Responsibility, Perceived Consequences of Pressure Ulcers on Patients, Priority, and Confidence in the Effectiveness of Prevention were extracted that together explained 50.26% of the total variance. A McDonald's ω of 0.891 demonstrated the internal consistency of the total scale, and internal consistencies ranging from 0.70 to 0.86 were found for different dimensions of the instrument. In addition, an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.876 was found that indicated the reliability (stability) of the total scale (95% Confidence Interval [CI] 0.736-0.963).

The Persian version of the Attitude towards Pressure ulcer Prevention instrument (APuP) has good validity and reliability in Iranian nurses and can be used in future clinical studies.

The present study was carried out as a comparative observational study in order to determine the effect of prophylactic dressing on the prevention of skin injuries due to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in health care workers (HCWs) working with COVID-19 patients. Selleckchem Ilginatinib In addition, the effect of nasal strip on the prevention of discomfort in breathing with mask was also investigated.

The present study was carried out with 48 HCWs (Control Group-CG, n=20; Experimental Group 1-EG1, n=20; Experimental Group 2-EG2, n=8) who use PPE on the face region and work with COVID-19 patients. Data was collected with Data Collection Form developed by researchers. In participants in CG, normal procedures of the institution in using PPE were followed. In EG1, prophylactic dressing was used on risky areas on the face. In EG2, nasal strip sticky on one side was used in addition to prophylactic dressing. The evaluation of the facial skin was made once a day by a researcher with expertise in wound management.

Groups were similar in terms of demographic characteristics of participants.
