Conclusion Home administration of apatinib shows promising efficacy and manageable AEs in patients with RR DLBCL. © 2020 Ma et al.Introduction Subthreshold micropulse laser treatment with a 532 nm (532-SML) wavelength has been suggested as a treatment option for the treatment of chronic central serous retinopathy (cCSR). The objective is to present its effects and complications. Methods We present a retrospective cohort study of cCSR patients submitted to 532-SML. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) parameters - central macular thickness, subfoveal outer nuclear layer, external limiting membrane, ellipsoid band, interdigitation band, subretinal fluid and choroidal thickness - were evaluated before and 12 weeks after treatment. A power of 50%, a duty cycle of 5%, exposure time of 200 ms and a spot size of 160 µm were the applied laser parameters. Results We included 26 eyes. Overall there were no significant changes in visual acuity (median 0.20 (IQR 0) logMAR before and after treatment) or SD-OCT parameters. However, visual benefits occurred in 42.3% (n=11) of the patients and in half of the cases, subretinal fluid was completely reabsorbed. There were no complications. Conclusion In this study, 532-SML was overall ineffective on cCSR as it did not lead to significant changes in the overall median visual acuity and SD-OCT parameters. However, some patients may have benefited functionally and anatomically from the treatment; further investigation is necessary to understand the potential of 532-SML. © 2020 Sousa et al.Purpose Simultaneous cataract and glaucoma surgery has traditionally been challenging for the anterior segment surgeon. The introduction of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) in conjunction with cataract surgery appears safe and effective in lowering intraocular pressure. Although a significant visual impact leading from the combined procedure is unexpected, we aim to describe the refractive outcomes in a cohort of patients undergoing simultaneous cataract removal and iStent inject and discuss the potential implications of combined surgery in patients with co-existent glaucoma. Patients and Methods This is a retrospective consecutive case series inclusive of patients undergoing combined femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery and the insertion of two trabecular micro-bypass stents (iStent inject). Visual acuity, refraction and astigmatic vector analysis were collated and analysed from the preoperative and 4 weeks postoperative visits. Results One hundred and six eyes of 89 patients from 2 surgeons were included in the original cohort. The mean absolute difference from target refraction was 0.36 ± 0.25D. 73.9% of eyes were within ± 0.5D of the refractive target and 98.9% of eyes were within ± 1.00D. 73.8% of eyes had 0.5D or less residual refractive astigmatism following the procedure. Conclusion We present a novel cohort of glaucoma patients undergoing combined trabecular micro-bypass stents (iStent inject) and cataract surgery achieving excellent refractive outcomes. Materials and Methods A multiple endpoint analysis (MEA) approach was applied to the reconstructed human corneal epithelium (HCE) model. Sodium hydroxymethylglycinate solution (0.04%) and two ophthalmic ointments containing microglycine (Protectorial, containing 0.02% of sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, and Edenight, containing 0.04% of sodium hydroxymethylglycinate) were investigated. The buffered solution and the ointments were tested on HCE after acute (one application in 24 hrs, followed or not by 16 hrs of recovery) or repeated (one application per day for three consecutive days) exposures; benzalkonium chloride (BAK) 0.01% and saline isotonic solution were used as positive and negative controls, respectively.
